there is so much running with vista it's using all my memory 65-80% I have 1GB of memory I know I don't need all the extras running but what can I shutdown I don't want to do the trial and error any ideas?

You're better off upgrading to 2GB. Don't run Vista on 1GB of ram. Four is great. I wouldn't even run Windows XP on less than 1GB of ram, let alone Vista on 1GB.

Its never a good Idea to shutdown anything unless it is something you installed yourself, but I would second what semperfidelis said, and that is to max out or upgrade with more memory,

...This Vista machine that you have...was it purchased with Vista on it ...or did you upgrade from a previous version of windows?
