Well, I would say that they are not saved.
I think this parable is warning people, especially non-believers, that they can't make God a priority "later on." Some people will say, "All right, I'll sin until I'm 40, and then I'll get religious," or something like that. Jesus is telling us that this is a dangerous attitude to have, since we don't know when our time will be up. Jesus is telling us accept Him now, not "rest" in sin until it's convenient for us to begin serving Him.

All tens virgins were expecting their groom(s) five were prepared for the their groom(s)with fully oiled(to accept the Holy Spirit)and trimmed lamps(of obedience)ready for their wedding celebrations. The other five were ill prepared for their groom(s)with no oil or obedience but had the trappings of a counterfeit celebration never the less.

I would be very cautious about dogmatic interpretations of any parables, since they were addressed to a particular group for particular reasons.

To those groups of whom the Lord addressed, which were arrogant and presumptuous, He gave very difficult and challenging messages and responses; not to condemn them but rather challenge them to repentance.

As the scriptures say:

quote:

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men....For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

--1 Tim. 2:1-4

Now if some should say that "all men" means only "the elect", how shall we know for whom to pray for? How can we discern who the "elect" are from the "reprobate"?

Answer: we can't

So, in order to avoid Gnosticism, and it's presumptuous spiritual elitism and epistemology, we ought to take this passage at face value and pray for all human beings; believing that God really does love everyone.

Therefore, God loves those whom He gives more difficult challenges.

In addition to the Lord's more challenging parables, we also have parables that speak about the graciousness and mercy of God, like the Prodigal Son; which the Lord addressed to the more humble and down-spirited among us.

Therefore, it's important to avoid hammering verses on yourself or others, fomenting personal torments, that were really addressed to a different sort of crowd; especially if you or someone else are already despairing of the mercy of God!!

God deals with and judges each one of us on an individual basis. Therefore, His expectations and exhortations are not going to be the same for each person, since we each have different levels of understanding and experience; experience and understanding are the parameters which give shape to our individual consciences (1 Cor. 8).

That is why the Gospels and Epistles repeatedly warn against judging our neighbor; since God alone is the only-wise Judge.

Just go to god in prayer and ask, believe he will answer, for he will and you will know the truth and be set free.
To me no one gets filled on their own. The virgins were counted filled from their belief. for God filled them by their believing in him.

to me the others were trying to get filled, have not sought out truth, tried to take from the ones that were filled.
We all are each accountable to seek out the truth for ourselves, not steal it from others.
So please let us all seek our own personal experiences with The creator of all, and each shall know him and praise him instead of praising others for their wonderful words of wisdom, deceiving the people, having them follow after them, instead of the real christ.

Our mediator is Christ between God and man. Thus we can approch the throne with confidence to seek how to walk circumspectly. Thanking god for his forgiveness already given at the cross, thus seeking how to say no to not loving your neighbor as yourself. Better than that how Christ loves us period. unconditional.
From this knowledge one does not take advatage of grace, one appreciates it so much that they automatically love as they are loved.

So if one knows they are loved complete, will not one love back complete. If one knows they are forgiven complete, will not that one forgive back complete.

Tell me, if you knew that god lives in you and through you and you also knew you could never be seperated from him. Would one ever doubt, or worry again?

ineffable love

Jesus Himself told them what they were missing: "But he answered, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'" (v.12).
"The foolish took their lamps." They joined a congregation (church) and its dogma, but was strangers to Christ who is only revealed to salvation by grace! Grace "alone!" Faith "alone!" No deeds of man! The works to your salvation is already done, before you hear about it - it is the works of Jesus Christ in your place, accepted by the Father. It happened about 2 000 years ago!

"For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." (1 Cor.2,2).

Yes, the foolish virgins represent those in the church who are not saved. The "oil" represents the Holy Spirit which they did not have.

The same as in the parable of the wheat and tares or even the parable of the sower and seed - the saved and the unsaved in the churches.

And, on the last day Christ will separate His sheep from the goats.

Actually they did have oil; just not enough to make it thru the night. If oil is the Holy Spirit (which only "saved" people presumabley have) they were saved at one time....

It's a PARABLE - not meant to be literal. The point is that verse 3 declares "They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them".

in the next parable, the servant who buried his talent was sent to outer darkness where there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth.

is this the fate of the 5 virgins who ran out of oil?....... why wouldn't it be?

That certainly is the result of not having the Holy Spirit/oil. So, I agree both parables are teaching the same spiritual principle.
