Currently, I live one hour from Harvie (in fact, I have to go to her city to go to the airport), halfway across the country from Sarah (west from her, so she's east of me, and I think southeast), and across the country (she would be northeast of me) from Maggie. And across a portion of the Pacific from Saraimay. Even though I'm west of most others, I'm East of Saraimay. In other words, I live in Hanford, CA, USA. However, I have also lived in San Diego (where I was born), Hanford (when I was little), Charleston, S.C., back in Hanford for 2 months, the L.A/Orange County area, then San Diego again, then Laton (very near Hanford), then Virginia (nanny job), then Georgia (college/nanny jobs), then back to Hanford. My paternal grandfather was Canadian though, and my dad lived in Ontario, Canada from ages 10-20, so I spent a fair amt. of time in Canada. I've also been to Mexico (just to visit).

I live in a small town in south-west Hampshire, England, UK, 2 miles from the sea and 2 miles from the New Forest (a National Park of 10,000 acres). If you want to look us up on a map, we're kind of southwest of Southampton, on the south coast, and about 10 miles east of the "resort" of Bournemouth. A bit about the area in which I live from a local town partnership site: quote:
The area is remarkable in that, within one parish, there has been found evidence of almost every period of pre-history. The Roman army of General Vespasian was certainly in the area around 43AD, and various Roman relics have been found locally. Hunting, fishing and farming were the obvious means of livelihood of the Germanic inhabitants of the area during Milton's first millennium. Milton and its surrounding villages and manors were listed in the Domesday Book (1086). The name Milton derives from Middletune, meaning middle farm. The Jutish or Saxon settlement was in the midst of other tuns, namely Barton, Wootton, Chewton and Becton. Milton is one of only a handful of Hampshire villages with a storehouse of mediaeval deeds. For this we must thank John Fromond, owner of a scattered estate centered on Fernhill, which he bequeathed to Winchester College in 1445, along with documents which take local history back to around 1200. So things go back a fair way here!

Sarah, just before I respond to the new question: The New Forest (there's a photo link where you can find pics for every month) (FYI Wild ponies graze the New Forest, along with commoners' ponies, cows, donkeys and even pigs at certain times of the year. This includes them being present in the villages that are in the New Forest - residents there have to have cattle grids across their driveways to stop the animals coming in and eating their gardens!) Barton on Sea (our nearest beach)

We thought about doing one last year, but never took the time to stage it. Might do one this year.

Most likely not doing them (or sending out Christmas cards). DH and I haven't changed that much from year to year.

We don't do "official Christmas" pictures. We often send out the kids' school pictures at Christmas...but that is about it.

In the past we have occasionally done casual pics of us as a couple around Christmas and have had professional pics of Josh done. This year we will have a family pic done of the 3 of us and some of Josh. I am planning/hoping to coordinate outfits for those. I usually try to work with something that at least 2 of us have so that I don't buy a lot of dressy clothes we won't wear very often. We will also do some casual ones, outside if possible that we'll either use Mark's tripod for and do ourselves or have my SIL take them. For the formal pics I tend to prefer more of a winter/snowy background than a traditional Christmas type. I'm actually not hung up on getting family pics done this time of year but "Family Christmas Picture" is something Mark is willing to do even though he hates having pics of himself normally. I really want one this year since next year we'll be a foursome. I am still upset about the nice couple pics we had done on vacation while I was pregnant with Josh - they were B&W close-ups (sort of) and they turned out great. Literally the best ones we had in over 10 years of marriage, but the reprints got messed up. It was the final day of our cruise and they wouldn't fix them. Kris

if we do Christmas pics they are informal and taken when the family is together. I usually post them online.

I voted other because my family never did Christmas pictures growing up, and it would be pointless to take Christmas photos of myself. However if I had kids (and the $), every year, yes, I would get professional Christmas photos done of them, and yes I would also color coordinate..I would also get professional pictures done at other times too, as well as a lot of snapshots (I hope I would anyway). My sister gets lots of pro shots done of her two, but not nesc. Christmas ones, but they do always have Christmas snapshots, and yes they color coordinate (very well). My other sister only has one and has taken a lot of pictures but not professional ones....She has one on the way..they will probably color coordinate for pictures as my sister is an artist.....I don't know how holiday specific they plan to be. Lord Willing, we will all be together for Thanksgiving, and we have talked about doing an extended family portrait, but I don't know if we will or not. If we do, we will color coordinate, but it won't have a holiday theme. I would actually like us to do one on the beach with the ocean behind us.

Voted "other" because our holiday will be over before Christmas -- it's from the 11th through the 19th this year.

Manda, I didn't see any snow photos. Not much snow there? None? The photos are wonderful, though. Enchanting place!

Beautiful! And I love the igloo! I thought you had snow, but started to think I was wrong. What months? How late into the year does the last snow stay on the ground? In Minnesota, I saw it snow in June once, and the snow often stayed well into what should have been spring.
