Max Lucado children's books are great for kids of all ages. Berenstein Bears are cute and have good messages. If you do a search on cbd.com, you'll find all kinds of good stuff.

Hmmm...I guess you could take different things from them. I see him more as a fun-loving, hard-working Papa. He likes to play and he knows how to build lots of cool stuff. A little goofy? Yeah...but so is my husband, so I guess I like goofy men.

I really love children's literature. My advice is going to be a bit strange coming from me. You know this child better than I do so your best beat is to go to a local library or bookstore and spend some time paging through some books, talking to librarians and considering the child in question. I mean - the books I would choose for my eldest dd when she was 5 were a lot different then the books I would choose for my younger dd when she was 5. But you asked for suggestions. Jan Brett has so beautiful books H.A. and Margret Rey of Curious George fame - EXCELLENT authors and illustrators. The Little House series - it's a great time to start the series or pick up one of the many books written especially for younger audiences - stories usually taken from the original series. Beatrix Potter - her little creatures were always getting themselves into some sort of bind or another and her stories always seem to end with a moral of some sort or other. The Winne the Pooh books speak a lot about honestly, friendship, hard work and other character traits as well. I personally adore Patricia Polacco's books - but some are turned off by some of the topics she chooses to tackle. Also Robert Munsch. I too enjoy the Berenstein Bear books. I guess I see Papa bear as being a hard working bear that sometimes gets to confident in himself and thus makes mistakes. But he always seems to continue to have the respect of his children and his wife even when he goofs up. Blessings, Garsy

The Henry and Mudge series by Cynthia Rylant is a cute series. Also Mr. Putter and Tabby series also by Cynthia Rylant. Also anything by Rosemary Wells is so cute. The Clifford series. There are so many books to choose from and so many cute ones. Also books by Bill Peet are good books.
