That is what I understand as well. Vertical means baby must be out NOW.

Yes I realise that - I was just curious because the reason for the section was the same as mine (and I didn't have a vertical).

Well, just because I haven't caused any trouble for awhile.... The vertical incision is not always for emergencies. I had one due to other issues not related to childbirth at all. I am, however, the very, very rare exception to that rule. But emergency or no, it still means I am not a candidate for VBAC. Hence the scheduled c-section. One thing to note if anyone ever finds themselves in my position - it is possible for them to do a vertical abdominal incision and a horizontal uterine one, but you will probably have to ask/specify that. And I have no idea if there are specific criteria, just read in several places that it is worth asking about because it is primarily the type and location of the uterine cut that determines if you can try a VBAC rather than the external one. Just something I wish I had thought about at the time. Kris

evegirl, are you thinking of having any more children? It's just that after a vertical C-section, it's usually to have repeat C-sections. At this moment, I am taking it day-by-day. Yesterday I wanted to have more, today its a no. LOL My husband is so confused, he is fine with whatever God decides for us. So if I end up pregnant sometime in the future, then it was meant to be. quote:
My emergency C-section was for the same reason - foetal distress. Jonathan's heart rate dropped when I had a contraction and would take increasingly longer to recover. I was nowhere near pushing though - was only 4cm dilated. Maybe they did a vertical on you because your labour was further progressed and Dylan had perhaps started to descend. Manda- I was fully dialated and I pushed for 30+ minutes. He started to descend, but just didnt wanna come out that way. I dont think it helped for my body to be in labor a full 2 days before I had him, I think it was too tired to help push him out. Maybe it was a good thing I did have a C. quote:
Speaking of incisions...I'm shocked how well mine is healing. I just wish it were not so itchy... But, I know it is temporary. Oh golly gee the itching is terrible! Mine is finally not itching as bad, but I still have the part that is raw and where they cut the stitch out on monday, so I am sure that will itch when it finally heals!

I was in labour for two days before I had Jonathan (by emergency caesarean), and also with Sarah too (I had a VBAC, but by ventouse, due to "maternal exhaustion").

Gabby's were 7, then 9. When we saw her cord knot we expected them to be lower but she did pretty well.

ORIGINAL: SweetLittleErin Isaac's Apgar scores were 8 then 9 five minutes later. That was pretty impressive for a 28 weeker, it encouraged me. We were afraid because he was SO purple/blue when he was born but it was from bruising. Poor kid had black eyes for a month from it! My PP AF came around 4 months or so and Isaac was still waking up 2-3 times a night. I think PPAF is so variable... It is very variable......even if one follows the LAM method of breastfeeding..it can return as early as 6 weeks after birth....or as late as 18 months after birth.

It actually is not as bad now since the doctor took off the strip things. You know what is irritating though? My stretch marks below the belly button. I'm having to put lotion on 3-4 times a day.
