I pay extra on my mortgage. It varies a little depending upon other bills and income zigzags (like 56 hours of unpaid furlough in 2009 and unexpected medical outlays). No balances on the credit cards - pay in full every month. At a guess its been at least 20 years since I had a balance, and I always paid extra (i.e. more than the minimum). No student loans, I cashed my way through all three degrees. Part of the year I pay extra on gas & electric but other months less than usage since I am on a level pay plan. I do track my monthly usage and if it appears the level pay is going to be shy, I sometimes tack on extra. Other times, I let the utility bill me for the catch-up.
