Just like McCain's daughter wore that tank that showed too much (I think it was a tank?)... I can totally wear the same top and not show anything. If I were extra blessed up there though, I might have let the tanks go, or find ones that have more coverage up top. I totally agree! I used to have this one dress that showed my knees, and once in choir I mentioned it (I think we were discussing what we bought at the church garage sale, and that's why it came up in conversation.) I said that I generally don't wear dresses above my knees. Well, a few weeks later I wore it anyway, and the older guy who looks just like Santa Claus said, "I remember that you said you don't wear dresses that show your knees. I just wanted to let you know that your knees are showing. But that's okay, because you have nice legs." I about died! I was so red. I don't think I ever wore that dress again!

I don't wear short shorts. Having said that, I don't mind people seeing my knees, as long as they don't see much of my knees. People seeing my shoulders on the other hand is something I don't feel comfortable with. I'm a chunky lady and it really shows around my arms, shoulders etc.

I wear sleeveless and shorts and short skirts. My skirts mostly come to my knee these days though. I don't wear sleeveless to church. I always put a sweater on at church. Just my upbringing. LOL!

I'll do both, though I won't generally go strapless simply because the only way I can wear strapless without it looking trashy is if it's a dress with a lot of boning in the bodice so it stays up and properly covered, and that's not exactly comfortable. For skirts I generally go with somewhere between just above my knee to just below it, skirts that hit much farther down my lower leg aren't usually flattering since they tend to hit at the widest part of my calf, and at my height it's too hard to find truly ankle-length skirts. As a general fashion rule of thumb though, if I'm going to be showing a lot on the bottom half, I'll show less on top, and vice versa, I think it looks better that way.

I'm good with either as far as modesty is concerned, but I won't often show my shoulders for the practical reasons mentioned; I have yet to find a strapless bra that really does its job, and a tank top would have to cover wide bra straps and the sides, so normally I don't bother. I also don't tend to buy much clothing that would be either too cold or inappropriate at the office, and I think tank tops aren't all that professional in an office environment. Maybe if we didn't have freezing cold a/c it would be different. OTOH, my wedding dress was sorta strapless; straps were just off the shoulder; of course, it was boned so the support issue wasn't there, for a change. Am I the only one crazy enough to want more boned clothing? LOL Never had an issue with the knees; many of my summer skirts, and a couple pairs of capris, come just to the knee. I have to admit that I didn't wear them much last summer, but that's because they were too small and they let my legs stick to the vinyl bus seat (ick) so I wore longer skirts, but it wasn't really about modesty. I find if the skirt is A-line I never have an issue with it riding up; my pencil skirts tend to hit at the knee so even they don't do it much. I have to admit it's funny discussing this in fall; it was below freezing on Monday and I've just resigned myself to the fact that I will not wear a skirt until April; I certainly won't be showing my shoulders. On cold days, not even my neck! Ya know, I'll bet you that burkas are toasty warm in winter.

The day I wear a Snuggie is the day I have officially given up maintaining myself as a woman. I'm sorry, Snuggies are on par with UGG boots, Crocs, wife beater t-shirts, Zubas, lip plumpers, sand-washed anything, dresses over leggings, and any style using underwear-as-outerwear.

Sure they can--all they have to do is wave their hands and say, "Snuggies are perfectly acceptable wear for a Jedi Knight" and everyone will believe them!

Ya know, I'll bet you that burkas are toasty warm in winter. Seriously, I sometimes find myself wishing that salwar kameez clothing was in style for white, Christian girls like me. I like 'em. I have a white Christian friend who wears some of that clothing sometimes; she was invited to an Indian wedding, which started her. She gets skirts at an Arabic store and wears regular tops with them; it looks more bohemian than culture-borrowing. I don't think Jedi would find Snuggies easy to fight in. Not enough range of motion. I had to google Zubas. I didn't know they had a name, but I'd agree they're all kinds of wrong. quote:

It's not fair that my friend can wear an adorable top and when I wear it I look like a harlot on Saturday night. I agree; definitely not fair. Esp since you will never find a version of a similar top that actually fits over the girls. You know it's sad when the seam that's supposed to go under the bust hits above the top half of the bust. I've even had that problem when shopping for maternity wear (which you'd think would have a longer top half of an empire top, since pg women usually get bigger up top) but no... whoever designs them assumes that only small-busted women get pg these days.

Any Jedi Knight that uses their powers for unscrupulous purposes--such as, causing others to not follow their natural inclination to recoil from the Snuggie--needs to reacquaint them self with the Jedi Code, and other silly stuff. ; )

I show both knees and shoulders, but there is a time and place. I don't show either at church, or school. Mostly just around the house, or at the lake, or the park. I don't wear skirts that come above the knee, but I will wear shorter shorts. I will wear tank tops, but I wont wear anything strapless.
