I forgot to mention - my Mother would sit and read an entire Cookbook like it was a novel. I never understood why, though, because she was a fantastic cook and never measured a thing! I don't think she even had a set of measuring cups or spoons! Yet she loved to read the books (perhaps it was the pictures! Just thought of that!)

I like true stories, biographies, some classic fiction, and Christian fiction. But I can branch out if a different type of book is really interesting.

Maybe, just maybe, it was because she actually did read all those cookbooks that she was able to pull out awesome recipes from her brain? Just thinking out loud here, but if she read them that much, she obviously would develop an understanding of what ingredients go together and in what quantities. Thus when she went to cook, she had the foundation of good cooking in her head and did not need any individual recipe from a book to go by. She just "knew" how to do it I would suspect. And she knew this not from some pre-packaged recipe list, but by being a comprehensive reader of recipes and knowing how cooking "works".

If I told you how old I was...LOL! Let's just say that I remember the debut of MTV (I graduated from high school the same year)

Me too about MTV. I think I was a sophomore that year.

What kind of books do I like? That depends on my mood. Nothing too "deep" or my mind goes blank.

I think most people find this strange but I really like reading non-fiction books. Especially ones that improve myself in some way like learning a new skill or learning more about a certain topic.

Gotcha beat, I remember the debut of the Beatles. Seriously. No lie. I was 7.

8ball, I'm the polar opposite. The only non-fiction I read are sports illustrated and the local paper. And half the content of both is probably made up. I read to escape and be entertained.

There was no "other" option on the poll!

I love anything with enduring value, any and all genres. I currently have about 50 books on my shelf a home waiting for me get to them, and nearly all are at least 60 years old, many over 100!
