His, That is a good report. I'm glad you are being blessed and will continue to pray that your faith will be built.

I posted a new thread in the parenting folder about developmental eye exams. Mr. Manly had one and it was revealed that he has problems with his eyes working together and this is likely the main problem he is having with reading. The thread is called Reading and Vision.

Judy, I do get what you're doing, and frankly I think you should have done it a long, long time ago. One caution - you might have to keep your kids in the dark about your wherabouts too, or he might squeeze the information out of them.

I'm really tired of rain. Just so y'all know.

My grandmother passed away this morning. She is with Jesus now. I am thankful that we will see her again, but will miss her a lot. This will mean a lot of changes for my extended family, as her home was the focal point of family life. I am wondering when I am going to see some of my relatives now. Grandma has had the Thanksgiving celebration at her house for 45 years straight. Last year there were over 40 people there. I cannot imagine how small it will be to have Thanksgiving with only the six of us. My husband said he has spent more Thanksgiving at my grandmother's than he has with his own family. Hopefully we will still have Thanksgiving there this year since my aunt and uncle will be living there for a while. It would be good for us all to be together this year.

A lot of things like Thanksgiving fell apart when my Mom passed away. I should have taken over... Praying for you and your family.

Thanks everyone. Yes, grandparents can be a tremendous blessing. I am thankful that I have had such loving grandparents both on my side of the family and my husband's maternal grandparents were also wonderful. I spoke to my cousin about Thanksgiving and she said she thought that would be a great idea. Her parents will be living in my grandmother's house for a few more months, so it could work well. They moved in during the summer to care for Grandma.

Sorry about your grandmother too Cynthia. I am glad you have so many wonderful memories of her and you will have at least one more Thanksgiving at her place.

It seems that the person who gave me so much grief at the beginning of this year in dance is back at it again. There have been a couple of small incidents last night and last week as well.

One of the dances we are doing tomorrow has a few pauses in one section and she refuses to pause and complains about how hard it is to pause and they throw her off cause we move then pause, move again then pause, move again then pause.

She should be careful though cause if she refuses to pause she is going to run into someone. I am going to make sure it is not me. This is not the first time she has commented about pauses either.

I am not of the mindset that we need to move all the time, simply because music is playing.

Cynthia--so sorry to hear about your grandma. Grandma's are special!

Roller coaster day here... I injured my leg last week. I went for a massage yesterday and the MT was certain I had a stress fracture. Uh oh... three weeks until my marathon! My doctor was booked today but agreed to work me in. He went over every inch of the bone. He doesn't think it's broken. He thinks it's soft tissue. He told me to go ahead with the 20 mile run on Saturday! Within 24hrs, I went from a most likely DNS (did not start) to a green light to race! If everything goes right, I should qualify for Boston.

I carved pumpkins with some friends yesterday. It's wonderful how many pumpkins and apple cider $20 will give you!
I roasted the seeds too =] My first time and I think they turned out pretty darn well.
I tossed them in a little olive oil, some sea salt. I want to try some more but with butter, sugar, and cinnamon =]

Sounds totally yummy. Sara!

His, hope your race sets one of your best times yet.

Well, it's official. My dh has a job starting November 2nd. Thank you to all who were praying for me.

For all who are still looking, I have not stopped praying for you! I pray that God will meet all of your needs in every way- your financial needs as well as your needs to be productive and useful.

My dh has been depressed by his former work situation for probably over a year, and our marriage greatly suffered for it. So I will be praying for your families hearts too.

Yay, Shadow! I'm glad things are looking up.

His, I hope your race goes well!

It is still raining. The barometer I have built into my right ankle is letting me know that it's raining, just in case there was doubt, and that it's not likely to end anytime soon.

And, to top off my day, I almost had a very large truck implanted into my passenger door on my way in to work.

OK, I'm done whining . . . how is everyone else today?

Still don't have a functional shower. Substitute "taught" for one of the discovery center teachers this afternoon. One period the kid did his own thing. THen later I helped a boy convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and back and then decimals to fractions and back.

Cindy,

I am praising God for that little word "almost"! I didn't see it the first time I read your post. I am so grateful you are okay.

Zoe, it's fun to help people understand new things. Hope your shower is fixed soon, or that you really enjoy your baths, or both even.

Yes, the "almost" does make all the difference, doesn't it?

I left Brandon at Melissa's doing guy stuff with Steve - they've asked to keep him for the weekend so he can help with some projects around there. He is so loving it - no way I could say no. Fortunately I have enough boys (and girls!) at my place to get my weekend projects done. Erin may not be much help, though - at the rate she's going, she'll be on dishes until she's 23 . . .

What is it about doing dishes?! Just do it and get it overwith! The longer you stall, the more dishes there are to do! I've been working on that with dh for 21yrs now...........

Still doing a lot of thinking. I have the CD that the RD sent me in my van and have been listening to it. Starting to think about maybe finding a new church. But, not until after my race. But at least I'm making progress???

I went to the fabric store this afternoon. I had dropped my van off at the oil change place and they said it would be at least an hour. I needed more fabric for the baby quilt I'm making. Then, since they were only on #1 and I had #14, I had a wait to get my fabric cut. Do not leave me unattended in a fabric store... I ended up with some fabric to make Benny the hound a bandana. It has signs that say "Watch Dog on Duty!" and "Beware of the Dog!". Uh, yah, Benny would be my little beagle.

I thought you good folks would get a kick out of this. I don't home school (eldest is only 2), but I know all the laws in my state. I struck up a conversation with a lady at the bookstore, and she said she was thinking about homeschooling, and she asked me how to become "certified" to HS. I started filling her in, when another mom, who actually is HSing, walked by and joined in with her knowledge. A young lady who worked at the bookstore joined in and said she'd been HS'ed from K-8th grade and added her experience.

I'm thinking the lady I first started talking to got more info then she bargained for.

LOL Sideways. Of course you were in a bookstore...

I have joked before that the real reason I started home schooling was to indulge my penchant for books. I love books! All kinds of books!

Hi there! I'm new here, wanted to say hello. I'm a HS mom of 3 boys. They've never been to "traditional" school (which gets me more questions and "suggestions" from relatives about considering other options for schooling as time goes on... I guess no one really thought I was serious when I said we'd homeschool as long as the lords allows us to ). The boys are in grades k, 2 and 4. I'm an electic homeshooler who loves to design our curriculum using free and low cost materials. I used to spend massive amounts of time online, and reasearching so I have lots of links. You'd be surprised at all the free resources online. you really can give a child a great education for free (although I do ake small donations to the site we use the most when I can). Wow, I'm ramblin'!

I've been popping by from time to time to see what you all are up too so I suppose an introduction is over due .

Oh yea, my hubby was laid off an so he's home with us now and I know that some folks here can relate. He is looking for a job (he HAS to submit applications regulaalry to get the UI benefits which are much than he was making). He hasn't had an interview or a call for a while but I am happy that he's still trying and keeping a good attitude about it lately.

I'm off to bed but hope to make some friends, so lord willing I'll talk to you all soon!

Hi butterfly; welcome!
Sounds like you read the forums for a while before joining? That's what I did; was quite helpful.
