When I first went back to school for my BA(now I'm in grad school), I used to obsess about how old I'd be when I completed school and finished my internship. I realized I was looking at it backwards. Now I don't see how old I will be when I finish, but what I will have accomplished by the time I turn x amount of years. I got my BA at 44, and will have my MA at 46.

The fact is, we will age regardless of what we choose to do, or not do. I can either be 46 with my masters or 46 without it. I chose with!

My only suggestion is to make sure you are pursuing something you are passionate about. That's what keeps me going when it all seems overwhelming. Having that passion drive me makes it mean something much more than just a degree.

it's too late to live life and have it to the full on this earth when you enter the pearly gates...before then, you are never too old for anything!

I totally agree with this statement. This was the attitude I took when I went back to school to complete my bachelors degree at 41. Now at 43, I'm looking at grad schools. I look at it as continuing the journey that the Lord has set out for me.

Don't worry about your age, I found most students were intrigued and very supportive of me going back to school at my age. I made many new friends of all different ages and I was most definitely not the oldest in the class. There were many people in their 60s and one in their 70s attending who were filling their retirement time with classes they were curious about or completing the degrees that their jobs kept them from years ago.

I say go for it!

I'll be the voice of caution. Rich, are you interested in grad school or medical school? If I read correctly, it was medical school. Factor into the decision that unless you have independant means to pay for school, it will be very expensive. I have several friends that are doctors and their student loans are in the multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars. From your other posts,I would infer that you are interested in marrying. Consider what it would mean to put you and your bride into the position of being in debt for student loans more than many people's homes.

My husband has very high student loans for law school. We are provided for but we pay out huge sums each month for these obligations. It is just something to consider.

I am 50 and getting ready to pursue an associates in applied science iipublic protection with a concentration in environmental health and safety.

It may take me a while to accomplish this feat, but I really intend to see it through.

I recently heard of a 93 year old woman who graduated from Harvard with a law degree.

Too old for grad school or any school? Not hardly.
