Looking for a good game today when my Gators play Arkansas. It looks like the Razorbacks have a real good offense, and I know the Gators have a real good defense, so they should get tested today. I hope our offense will finally get on track now. They have not had to score much to win so far, but I hope they can light it up against the "Hawgs". We'll see in about 15 hours. GO GATORS!!

Well the Gators pulled it out after a hard fought game. Arkansas hung tough, but lost on a last seconds field goal by the Gators. It's tough to win a game when you give up four fumbles in the red zone and let your quarterback get sacked six times. Hand it to the Razorbacks, they were well prepared for the Gators offense. They are a very good team and should end up with a real good bowl invitation. When all is said and done, though, Florida is still unbeaten and #1 in the country! GO GATORS!!

Alabama is #1 this week. As far as the AP (media) poll is concerned this is correct. In the USA Today poll (coaches) and the BCS (the one that counts), Gators are still #1. I agree that Florida did not look very good Saturday, and neither did Alabama, but both were playing very good SEC teams. Texas did not look the best either, but look who they were playing. What really matters is that all three still found a way to win, and that is what will keep them in the championship hunt. I like all three teams, but I'm a Gator fan, so GO GATORS!!

NEW YORK -- After a steady climb, Alabama has reached the top of the AP poll. The Crimson Tide jumped Florida and landed at No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday. The unbeaten Gators had been in the top spot since the preseason, but the Crimson Tide has been gaining ground for weeks by winning more convincingly than the Gators. The final surge came after Alabama beat South Carolina 20-6 and Florida needed a field goal in the waning seconds to beat Arkansas 23-20 at home. The Crimson Tide, which received 10 first-place votes last week, got 39 out of 59 from the media panel. Florida received the other 20 first-place votes. Texas is No. 3, followed by Southern California, Cincinnati and Boise State at No. 6. The Broncos dropped a spot. The first BCS standings also came out Sunday and Florida was in first place, followed by Alabama, Texas and Boise State. more news Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford had an MRI and an X-ray that revealed "no new injury," only an "aggravation" of the previous shoulder sprain, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Sunday night. That source also said a course of action for treatment will be determined in the "coming days." Sooners coach Bob Stoops said earlier Sunday that he had no update on Bradford's condition. [seems like Bradford now injury prone. sad to see in such a humble quiet talented athlete] Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike, who was injured in Thursday's win at South Florida, might be able to play as soon as this week against Louisville, coach Brian Kelly told the Cincinnati Enquirer. Kelly had ruled Pike out this week after Thursday's game, when the senior Heisman Trophy candidate sprained his left wrist and aggravated a plate that had been inserted in his left forearm last year. [ here's praying he does. talented kid with a future ahead of him] SAD NEWS. pray for the family STORRS, Conn. -- A Connecticut football player who was an expectant father was stabbed to death early Sunday after an on-campus dance, just hours after helping his team to a homecoming victory. Jasper Howard, 20, of Miami, and another student were stabbed during a fight after a fire alarm was pulled during a university sanctioned dance at the UConn Student Union just after 12:30 a.m., police said. Police had not identified a suspect or released the name of the other victim. Connecticut coach Randy Edsall said the team was heartbroken and devastated over the loss of Howard, a junior and the team's starting cornerback who came to the school to get away from the violence on the streets of his hometown. He became the first person in his family to go to college.

My Horns and Tide are both suffering from a lack of offense. Sure Ingram ran for over 200 yds again. But w/o him the Defense is having to pull too much weight. Still not sold on Mcelroy at QB. He got better but seems like he's stalled out. Same goes for Texas. Colt must settle down and just play ball. He appears to be trying to make things happen. trying to force a play, pass etc. still think they're 2 of the best 5 teams in the country.

Monte Kiffin will have a better time against their offense than he did with the spread offenses. As long as the score stays down, the Vols have a chance.

Even in this day of a heated rivalry with the hated Gators, the Tennessee-Alabama game is still special for Tennessee fans. It goes back a long way, and there are a lot of memories. I'm not sure how much a chance the Vols have, but I will say this: they played Florida a lot closer than anyone had thought possible, and they ripped Georgia a new one. I'm thinking it's going to be a tough game, no matter what. It is, after all, Tennessee-Alabama! GO VOLS! Mike

I am so happy to see the entire crew of officials suspended in the SEC. After horrible calls in both games the Ga-LSU and the Fla -Ark. game it's clear they needed to go. Too bad it wasn't fired instead of suspended. What a horrible rip off for the teams involved.

For the first time in a long time, I yelled at the TV. Seriously. For longtime observers of the Tennessee/Alabama rivalry, this was a classic, and in many ways, typical. A low scoring game, a lot of defense, and only one touchdown (scored by the Vols, by the way. I was very proud of the Vols. This is the second game they've played this season against a number one ranked team. And, as we all know, Tennessee is coming off a horrible season last year, and is in the first year with a new coach. And, there is a lot of youth on the roster. But they played both number one teams...Florida, and yesterday, Alabama, very tough. To some, the loss to Florida felt like a moral victory, because the Vols were such underdogs. But the loss to Bama yesterday was very hard to take. Two blocked field goals, and another missed field goal...any of which would have been enough to win. Oh well...I think Tennessee showed they are going to be a power once again in the SEC, maybe as soon as next season. But the game might have shown something else: is Alabama overrated? We'll see. GO VOLS! Mike

It was a good day in the state of WV yesterday. First of all, the Mountaineer Maniacs showed a great deal of class in their welcoming of the UConn football team - a standing 'O'. Then, the moment of silence prior to the coin toss and the handshakes at midfield. What a gesture! The game was almost anti-climactic . . . and a huge shocker, but the Mounties prevailed on the strength of a huge 2nd half for Noel "A Touch of the" Devine. ESPN's College Football Final crew gave the WVU fans a helmet sticker for their treatment of UConn . . . and "Lisping Lou" actually admitted that he was born in WV (a little town called Follansbee). He wouldn't do it any other time!! Secondly, Marshall played an excellent game against UAB and won fairly easily 27-7. With only one more win, the Herd will be bowl eligible for the first in the Mark Snyder era! And people say that the age of miracles has passed. I had high hopes for Tenn. against 'Bama, but it wasn't to be. USC got some revenge against Oregon St., but their defense looked a little porous - better work on that. Texas really is playing well; they might make the BCS Title game. Florida won again. YUCK!! Cincinnati won again, as did Pitt (****!), so the Mounties upcoming games with USF, Cincy, and Pitt are going to be really important. I can hardly wait!! Duane

is Alabama overrated? We'll see. They are not any more overrated than Fla. Being number 1 in the polls does not always mean you are the best playing team in the country. Other factors influence the rankings. This season I would pick the Hokies as the best playing team I have seen all year. Ga Tech played an awesome game against them and won, but I still say considering the season as a whole my vote would go to the Hokies. Team with the most promise would prob have to be the Vols.

I would agree that Florida has not played to their potential this year, but they have played well enought to still be undefeated. As to being #1 in the polls, I agree there are a lot of factors to consider, and one is the fact that Florida has to play SEC teams, and they are all focusing on Florida. I wonder how some of the other highly rated teams would fare if they played in the SEC. When Florida solves the mysterious red xone jinx, I think they can beat anybody. GO GATORS!!

Well I must give congrats to the Bunch from ole Rocky Top. I do believe the Vols will be back sooner than expected. That said, my Tide MUST go back to the power I. Ram Igram down their throat, with upchurch and Richardson as well. Roll out, play action, short slants to the flats and middle.! Mcelroy would serve much better because he would lose his tunnel vision for julio jones, and I think this would free up Julio. Mcelroy just isn't gettin it done with the spread in D-1. I can see running the spread 50% but not all the time. Bama is bulit for power and to me that is where they need to go. This reminds me when Gene Stallings was there and they only avg 16 points per game. Course that's okay whne your opp only avgs 12. Horns looked good, but OK ST ain't gonna be easy. Both still will rely on their D to win. As Gene said "I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty".
