I'll bet boy then, Sharon

The "rules" for a boy are basically-

Wait for a positive on an OPK in the AM, test again in the PM then wait 12 hours... then begin your best efforts

The theory is that male sperm are faster, but weaker meaning they die sooner then female sperm. You wait until ovulation is confirmed and then "do the deed" to give them the chance to get there sooner then the girls, who are slower.

It actually is supposed to have an 85-90% accuracy for conceiving a boy.

I don't think so. AFAIK, she tried temping and charting as per TCoYF, but found it confusing and her sleep too erratic to get accurate readings. She thought the opk's sounded easier, and so used those instead... which would have her timing intercourse only a day or so before ovulation, not the several days before ovulation needed (in theory) for a girl.

Sandy if you'd like to send me your info, I'll be happy to let you know when she gets here.

Yeah, the dr said that I am a good candidate for an induction (I've had two already) and my last was quick and easy. So we will make a more definite decision on my next appointment on Tuesday. It's funny my ankles aren't too bad (you can see some swelling) but my toes look like miniature sausages and are really stiff. I've been lounging on the couch today, but Mary makes it so hard to stay comfortable.

Ryanne -- We do have a name, but I like to wait to share it when I announce her arrival.

I just need to vent for a quick second.....I'm REALLY starting to rethink the laboring and birthing in the tub deal and not getting the epidural. With all the little aches and pains and stretches, my sister and doctor and everyone else I talk to said they are "uncomfortable" but should not hurt. Well, mine hurt! If these things hurt, I can't imagine what labor and birth pains are going to be like.

Ugh....I don't know what to do.

I think you are worrying too much Momma!!

imho...I would make plans for laboring in the tub...but also be prepared and open to getting the epidural..and all the things that go along with it (no tub, in bed, limited to no movement) and that's okay.
Getting the Epi doesn't make you less of a woman (not that I think you think that Sharon..just sayin') You get the baby..and that's what counts!!

Dont worry Sharon, we still have a little bit of time to decide on birthing methods. I wanted to go natural with my son, but I so opted for an Epi when I was in labor, as I had extremely terrible back labor. You might make a decision now, but change in the middle of labor. Do what you need to do to have that baby!

Praying Nicole. Hoping you have a quick and smooth induction, and that your BP comes down.

Keep us in prayers, as we are fighting the bought of the flu in our house. My son had it first, which wasnt a terrible case, then I got it. I never EVER felt as bad after a bought of the flu as I do now, being pregnant changes that whole dynamic. My eyes hurt, my whole body feels like I got hit by a truck! Though the baby is rocking and rolling inside of me, evidently it didnt do anything to slow him down! And possibly my son got it again, as he threw up tonight when we got home from seeing my FIL. :( Though hubby hasnt gotten it yet, which is just as good. We need health in our house!

Oh man, my prayers with you definitely. Back in Nov/Dec our house got hit with the flu and I got it 3 different times. Talk about draining! Take care of yourself; keep those fluids going!

I posted this on facebook, but here is my most recent belly picture. I'm on the left and on the right is my cousin who had her baby last week Thursday. I'm 36 wks in this pic.

{{{Nicole}}} Hope it goes well for you!

Sharon--you can make plans and then change them, you know. You might be surprised at how you handle labor, or might not. I know I am a complete and total wimp when it comes to any sort of pain or grossness. I'm pathetic. But labor was different for me, even the last one where the pain was very much there and very much back labor. Who knows, maybe the tub will be enough. And if it's not, that's what the anesthesiologist is for. Although, even if you didn't want medical pain management, you'll probably hit transition and think "I can't doooooooooo this!". Because that's pretty much standard for labor. And it usually means you're almost done.

Repentance, what day?? What day?? How exciting to be that close to the end!

I've been doing well, just hanging in there! I'm feeling the baby move more consistently which is nice. Still stuck for a name though. If you know me at all...I like to have my "ducks in a row" and I wish I could decide!

We do a car wash fundraiser tomorrow. I'm hoping the heat & humidity will be okay with me. I get short of breath so easily, so I can't imagine what tomorrow will be like...but we will see.

Thanks everybody!

So here's how everything went:

Last tuesday, I had my 39 week appointment and I was 2 cms and 50% effaced. I had a feeling I would probably go by the end of the week. So the next day, wednesday, I noticed I was having a few more contractions than usual, but nothing regular. I was overly tired that day too. Anyway, we went to bed, and I woke up around 1:20am having strong contractions. I started timing, and they were three minutes apart. So I timed for about 10 minutes and we decided that we had better get moving, so we called hubby's mom to come stay with Chase, and she was there pretty quickly. I rushed around packing the last few things in my bag, and we headed to the hospital. It's about a 40 minute drive, but it was the middle of the night and no traffic, so it was quite a bit quicker. Contractions were 2 minutes apart for the whole drive. We arrived at the hospital at 3am. They checked me right away and I was 5 cms. So she brought me right to the delivery room and I asked for the epi... but alas, the anesthesiologist that was on call had already left, and by the time they got my blood work back and paged her, it would be too late. At that point I was in despair, because I remember last time how much stronger the contractions got after my water broke. So, I made it through each contraction and cried in between each one just knowing that I wouldn't have any relief. So by 4 am, I was 7 cms and they broke my water. The contractions were so strong then, and quickly got a lot closer together. The OB came in about 20 minutes later to check, and said I was almost 10, but couldn't push yet, then with the next contraction I said "I have to push!" and they said ok, so I pushed about 4 times over two contractions and she was born at 4:25... so it was only 3 hours of labour from start to finish!
My first labour was over 12 hours, so I never dreamed it would be so fast this time. It's a good thing we left for the hospital when we did!
I was so glad when it was all over, and we were so overjoyed to find out she was a girl!!

It wasn't my ideal birth plan, but she arrived safe and sound, and we are all healthy and happy, so I can put it behind me and enjoy my new family!

Best wishes to all the ladies up next!!

Ugh....I don't know what to do.

You plan for the worst and hope for the best. You have two plans set up in your mind and when you need to switch gears you are ready to go.
I will tell you this...every labor is different. Every woman handles labor differently. I have seen some women that really could handle the little pain they had very well...I mean, look at Erin...she didn't even know she was in labor. Some women have much more intense labor though, and I am one of those. Mine is always VERY intense and starts very suddenly...I never go from 10 or 15 down, I start at 3 minutes apart. So I always plan to go the route of epidural...and so far I have had one all five times. It works for me. I have tried other methods, and they really didn't help me. Because of my bp issues it is much safer for me to have the epidural anyway since labor tends to really raise my bp.
Anyway, sorry, chasing a rabbit there....just have whatever plan you need in place, and when one thing doesn't work try something else. Some women love tubs for laboring in, some hate them. It depends a lot on the way the abby is laying in there.
