Trish I've got the CD 'Revelation'. We've got about seven songs or so that the band is interested in covering off of it. A couple songs are hard-rock and we can't use them. But overall, it's a great CD.

Hi Marsha, Bethany, Ray. How are you all doing today? I'd never heard of Revelation until yesterday. It's good though.

Just having a day of recovery today. I went shopping yesterday to use one of the gift vouchers I was given for my birthday. The pain started not long after we got there, and today, I'm really paying for going out. I ended up getting some DVD's. Has anybody heard about Christian the lion? That's one of the DVD's I got. It's been on youtube as well. Years ago, 2 men bought a lion from Harrods and brought him back to Australia. He lived with them until he got too big, and then was taken back to Africa to be with his own kind in the wild. There was a man there who was given charge to care for Christian. He has something to do with the Born Free movie. Not sure what. Anyway, a year later the men went to see Christian. Christian remembered them, and went and gave them hugs and just loved on them. You see what happens on youtube. A year later than that, they go back again to visit him. Again, he still remembers them, and he is very affectionate towards them. Later in the visit though, Christian sits looking towards the wild. He walks back into the wild as if to say that I've got lion things to do now. It was shown on TV here, or at least part of the footage. I have the DVD that shows a lot more of the footage.

Yep. And he certainly made an impact too, just like we should be.

Hi everybody. Today has been a really full on day. Errands and all that we had to do took a lot longer than planned. We also had errands to run for other people. This afternoon, a friend's premature baby passed away. He only survived a few days.

Exactly. I think I'm going to have to head to bed. I can feel my head nodding already.

Thanks Ray. Last night was the coldest night we've had since last winter. It got down to 42F. Just as well I had the polar fleece blanket and quilt on the bed last night. It wasn't supposed to get as cold, according to the weather forecast, but it sure managed it. Relaxation day today. After yesterday, I sure need the rest. I didn't sleep very well, so I'll probably try and get some more sleep later on, and maybe do some reading. I don't know if I'll be able to do any more of the scarves today as my hands are so swollen that they won't close.

Hey there, Joy! So good to have you back! How have you been? Yeah, new rule that once you get 10 000 posts, you have to start a new thread. So it was time to start another thread. I was hoping to have got my thread as long as Denny and Darcy's and some others, but oh well. Denny and Darcy's thread is one of the more popular threads around the Personally For You folder. Yeah, I like shepherd's pie too. I'll have to remember to make more of it next time our friends are here. Everybody had seconds. Some of them had thirds. Nobody else did because there wasn't any more!

Thanks for the welcome, Trish! Glad to be here! You mean Denny and Darcy have new threads, too! I must go see this! Our son and his friend ate a shepherd's pie I made with 2 lb. of meat. All in one sitting!

Wow! Big appetite! Yep, pretty much everybody had to start new threads. Any threads over 10000 posts had to be started again. That's the new rule in PFY.

I know they are in the deep sorrow. Likewise. That is so sad! After what I've been through, a loss like that is my greatest fear. I will pray for God's peace and strength for them; I don't know how anybody could get through something like this without His help.

I know that my friend's mother is a Christian. Don't know where my friend and her husband stand. She used to go to church years ago, but only goes on special occasions now. Her dh was raised in the Catholic church as a child, but hasn't been to church since. I don't know whether they will call on God for His help and comfort. She came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. She and her dh don't want to see anybody, talk to anybody. They don't want flowers, cards or anything. They've just cut themselves off from everybody. They stopped by her mother's on the way home from the hospital yesterday to pick up some meals, but other than that, don't want to see anybody.

That's not unusual; not healthy for them in the long run, but not unusual. Withdrawal from society in the first stage of grief after a loss like this is the natural reaction, but in the long run it's the support of friends and family that help you to face what has happened. I hope and pray they will realize they can grapple with this more easily if they can lean on others. I may not have experienced what they did, but the grieving processes are similar (from what I've read). We actually did the opposite when we found out we were losing our baby; that was probably the grace of God talking. Trish, if they or their mother are receptive to the idea of books to help with the grieving process, pm me and I'll send you a list. One of the books I read was not faith-based and might be more helpful if they're not sure where they stand with God. I'd also be happy to share with you some ideas on what I've found is most and least helpful when you're supporting someone who has encountered a loss, if and when they are open enough to let their friends in.
