What's a vacation?

Actually, I'd love to go to New England and visit relatives I haven't seen for some years. But that will have to wait until I get a job and some money.

I had a vacation planned, its on hold til I get a job. My parents might offer to pay but I don't want them too because then are hidden strings attached. Ugh can't decide.

And once you get a job, likely vacation cannot be had until after a year.

It depends on the job and the management. Last job I only had PTO time so you used it for vacation or sick, and you could be up to two weeks negative. Govt type jobs are very generous on the time off policies. But I understand Ray, some of my relatives who work for Ford/GM have to take their vacations only on shutdown.

I've heard of that too. Thankfully where I w***, they are very generous about vacation time and when you can take it. Like you said though, some of my neighbors have had to take vacation only during the summer re-tooling shutdown.

Jill, I didn't know you were looking for a new job. Will be praying. Praying for all the are looking.

Had a good day off yesterday. I found out that my hairstylist of 20+ years is closing his salon this weekend. He said 10 years of being ultra busy is long enough. He will be working at a salon in Ala Moana Shopping Center.

I'm tired. I need a short nap before I start da job this afternoon.

It's a long story but I got laid off.. normally at that building they keep the same people but change contractors.. my boss acted real confident that they would hire me but they never called. The whole thing could have been handled better by the other managers. My managers were great and I really liked working there until that stuff happened.

What a bummer Jill. I guess the new contractors were downsizing. How's the search going so far?

Hi everyone, how is your weekend going so far? Not much going on here. John and I have been busy in new ways lately though. It was also really nice to off again on Saturday. But our last person at da job is going on vacation this week so another Saturday of w*** this week. Then things should really go back to normal. Lookinf forward to that!

No, the new contractors were not downsizing. Like I said, long story and I did ask if I was going to be laid off and never got a definitive yes or no - I would have been more prepared. When you tell me "not to worry about it" or "no one is going to lose their jobs" and then you do when you ASKED it is like a slap in the face. Ifthey would have been honest upfront then I would saved a lot more money and been looking a lot sooner.

I have applied for a few jobs but don't have any solid leads right now.

Understood. Keep us updated to your progress.

So Mike, still not Hawaii eh? That's ok, it can be your 2nd next.

One more day at da job and then two days off. Tomorrow I want to relax and have fun as much as possible. Not sure what I will do yet though. Then on Wednesday I take a friend to Costco with me and it's pretty much cleaning the rest of the day. I'm going to try this recipe. It's fried rice rissoto. Sounded interesting so I'll try it. It will be rich though with the butter. Eh, eat small portions. Ha.

I started a series on my blog about our love story. Not sure how romantic it will sound but I pretty much am doing this because I plan be blogging more about us and posting more photos in the future. Every family began with a love story right? I promise that this new one will remain that way for awhile. No more changes unless I am adding to it. And gosh, it will be more fun if you posted comments there. Please do. Please?

Hi Yaw!!!
I know how bad the unemployment rates are. They are high in the production towns not only of Detroit,Cleveland,Pittsburgh. Most of those cities relied on either steel or the automotive industry as a driving force of their economy. Things are so tough near Cleveland that over 800 people applied for a janitorial position at a high school to earn $16 an hour.

Happy Monday everyone!

I've been posting less and less here huh? Just trying to figure out what I wanna do. Should I keep the thread or just visit others? What do you think? If I keep it, I'd like to know that I can generate enough good conversation and traffic. Hmm....

Anyhoo. How was everyone's weekend?

Busy.

W***ked on Saturday. Church/bible study on Sunday. Should have sung with the choir, but our regular organist was sick. So the choir didn't sing.

Went out for lunch and then got started on the leaves. I'm just mulching them with the riding lawn mower. Then I spent some time with my lovely wife.

KEEP THE THREAD!

That is unless you do not have any intention to be participating in it that is.

My weekend was ok, not too much happened with me at all.

I think a lot of PFYs have been generating less traffic these days. Mine included. I say keep it so we can continue to visit
