Hello, and thank you all for your prayers. I am willing to have the radical mastectomy surgery. I AM NOT willing to have chemotherapy, I've decided. I do not want remission. I want to go home to Heaven. Would my not taking chemotherapy be considered the equivalent of suicide, by God and by people? It seems the choice is mine, really. Your thoughts and ideas, please.

ORIGINAL: Gentlenatured1 Hello, everyone, and so thankful for all your prayers! Yesterday was a fantastic day in our Lord! My neighbor and friend---Yolanda---came over and made breakfast for me. The scrambled eggs were delicious. I received about 15 phonecalls yesterday, also. The former Assistant Manager, Evalee--- came over, saying the current Manager had told her the news about my having cancer. The former AM is a Christian, and we had a wonderful talk and time of fellowship. Then, Robin---my Senior Pastor's wife---visited. She brought me many kind and generous gifts, as well as bringing a big rawhide bone for my dog, Jack Jasper. That big goofy mutt loves Robin so much! He is a traitor! LOL. Robin brought me three pillows, brightly colored pillowcases, Christian music CDs, Christian books, a beautiful flower arrangement, a pair of pink gardening gloves, a gardening trowel, and flower pots. Robin and I had a beautiful time of fellowship in our Lord. My friend Yolanda came over also, and she and Robin and I all enjoyed one another's comforting presence. A brand-new friend here at the apartment complex came over. She is a breast cancer survivor, which is what I intend to become. (What I wanna be when I finally grow up). Her name is Mary. She is precious. Mary got me signed up for the American Cancer Society's program in which they provide a patient with a monthly gasoline card for appointment trips. Mary also signed me up for "Meals on Wheels." Last night, a friend and her two beautiful, intelligent young daughters, Sarah and Savannah---accompanied me to my church for our Good Friday service. It was purely Heavenly! I actually sang along with the songs! Afterward, they came over and I taught them to play "Skip-Bo" which everyone enjoyed. Praise God! I am having the time of my life! Love from your sister in Christ----------- Thank you, Father.

Thank you all for your prayers and comments. Today a friend from church is taking me to my appointment at the Regional Medical Center. This is my appointment for my Pap test, which I truly dread. I will be seeing my Nurse Practitioner today. She is a Christian! This is only the second time I've had this particular test. All I can manage to say while it is occurring is: "ARE YOU DONE YET?"

This is how I was feeling several very frustrating days ago: I've asked two people to sift Flossie and Reiko's litter box. They will not do it. Angrily, I did it myself. Had to lift a new, 14-lb. box of litter with both hands/arms. Had to brace myself to keep from falling from dizziness. Having to do this does not help the severe swelling which has delayed the modified radical mastectomy. I am tired of joking about cancer. I feel like I am decomposing from the inside out, and it is just a matter of time before I am totally rejected and alone. This is not a joke. This is not something to be discounted and minimized. This is not a broken fingernail, a papercut, or the common cold. This is one of the most serious, life-threatening illnesses known to mankind. This illness is a killer. You know what infuriates me? When friends say "it could be worse." No, to me it really could not be worse. I am not a Drama Queen. Nor do I tend to exaggerate. I am thinking of not going to chemo. Of not having surgery. I really truly want out of this evil, corrupt, perverted world. I'm tired of trying to be brave for the sake of others. Is there no human with whom I can feel safe just crying? Or would crying even help?

Yesterday, the Regional Medical Center called to cancel and reschedule my Pap test appointment. O joy! I called a friend from church to ask if she would do grocery shopping for me. Not only did she shop two stores to get the best prices for me---she also did housework for 3 hours! Praise God---it was desperately needed. She cleaned everything except the ceiling! Then, as she was leaving, another friend came to my door. I had a revolving front door yesterday---like Grand Central Station. My other friend and I had a good time just talking. Her name is "Mary" and she is a breast cancer survivor. She had her mastectomy just months ago, and is an enormous comfort to me. Mary also helps me get signed up for various beneficial programs. A couple of hours after Mary left, my friend and neighbor "Yolanda" came over. She'd made tacos and asked if she and her daughter could come over and have dinner with me. Of course, I said yes! We had a wonderful time of fun and fellowship. These are the best days of my life!

Father, Thank You for sending loving friends to fellowship with Gentlenatured1. I ask that You walk with her through everything ahead and carry her through the valleys. Remove all fear and help her to rest totally in YOU. Let her experience Your Peace and Love and Grace. Help her and lift her up, give her comfort and encouragement. If it is Your Will, heal her. If it is Your will for her to go through treatments, speak to her heart and let her know what is best. Help her through all of the decisions that she will be required to make and help her seek Your Perfect will in all of this. Protect her from all harm caused by the evil one and his followers. Keep her in Your Loving Care at all times. Thank You, Father, for hearing and answering our prayers. In Jesus' name I ask these things, Amen.

Yesterday was a good day, although I was a little restless, bored and lonely. Two RNs from St. Martin's Hospice came over and evaluated me. (They know everything about me except my shoe size!) Both RNs are Christians! Praise God! I'll soon be getting: a wheelchair, a walker with a seat, a bench for my shower, a portable, discreet oxygen tank, and other things. They tried to talk me into getting diapers, but I emphatically said NO to that. Wednesday night Bible Study at church was superb! Pastor Sammy taught on John 14:1-4---the first verses I memorized as a new Christian way back in 1972! Excellent teaching! My friend Evalee sat with me through the service. We also observed Communion, which was effused with God's holiness and awe. Today I see my doctor in Riverside, and deliver the news about the cancer to her. I wonder what her reaction will be?

According to various websites I've researched about my type, grade and stage of breast cancer: 5 year survival rate is 40 percent. That, to me, is excellent news! I want to go Home to Heaven. Not languish in this increasingly-evil world. Oh, to be free from physical pain, to be free from emotional pain, loneliness, and especially---the mental illness which I inherited!

Father, I know that You love Pamela and have a plan for all that is ahead of her. I thank You that You have given her moments of joy and peace in the midst of the challenges. I thank You for all of the loving Christians You have sent her way to help with matters large and small. I thank You that she is getting the medical care she needs and everything is being paid for. Lord, continue to rain down blessings on her and lift her up when she is sad and afraid. Remove the negative feelings and let her experience Your Precious and Perfect PEACE. Draw her close to Your Father's Heart and keep her in Your Tender and Loving Care every minute. Protect her from the evil one and from all harm. Make her way smooth and carry her through the valleys. I ask these things in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you, everyone---for your prayers and posts. Today was a good and enjoyable day. A Christian friend came over. She had made a homemade Shepherd's Pie and brought it over for our lunch. It was delicious! I'd never had Shepherd's Pie before. Then, she cut my hair, and it looks very nice. I have naturally dark brunette hair, wavy and curly, with some silver, and blue eyes. I look five years younger, which is always good. My friend then read John 14 to me, and it was wonderful! I closed my eyes, and it was just like being there in Israel while Jesus spoke. Following the Scripture reading, my friend took my Ford Ranger to the carwash. (Dusty vehicles at the apartment complex are assumed to be abandoned, and towed away at the owner's expense.) Such a wonderful blessing---she also drove my Ranger on the nearby freeway, charging the battery. My friend scooped Flossie and Reiko's litter box, and then went home. Another friend came over briefly to let me know she would be leaving for the weekend. I'm very tired, so will go now. Love and hugs from your sister in Christ----------
