I remember the Grand Pooh Bah from the Flinstones... The Royal Order of Water Buffaloes LOL
And thanks to all who mentioned my avatar... Just so you all know... I don't look like that!

What??? You don't look like that sheep?? I'm shocked!! LOL!!!

So tell me Maggie... Do you watch the Flintstones on a regular basis? Or is it just that you have a great memory and remember that Water Buffalo thing? I use to watch the Flintstones years ago, but haven't seen it in a long time. Is it even still on TV? I use to like Barney. He was my favorite character on that show.

No... I dont' watch them anymore.. it's just the phenomenal memory like a steel trap!! now.. where did I put my car keys??? BA hahaha
and I have to mention this.. my hubbys first name is Timothy.. Goes by his middle name though... too funny
and I know.. its shocking that I don't look more sheepish.. too hard to type with the lack of fingers.. LOL
And speaking of the Flintstones.. I envy Betty and Wilma.. I gotta tell you.. they've got the most obediant kids EVER!!

Is his middle name Matthew? ...mine is. And it's the name I go by on this forum. Is that too funny or what?? ~You don't have to answer my question revealing your hubby's middle name of course.

You already answered my next question... What was Barney's wife's name? Betty!! I had forgotten that. Also forgot that they even had any kids, but now remember Pebbles and Bam Bam. I'll bet Bam Bam was a handful 'eh?

Next question.... Is it spelled "Flinstones" or "Flintstones"??? I'm confused, and too lazy to check the Wiki.
Hey! Maybe Psalms274 could do that for me. She did before. LOL!!

it's Flintstone. That threw me off for a second

Heh.. here is my say anything nice
Matthew-59 challenges me to research and better myself by learning more

and the hubbys middle name is Lee. thats what he goes by.. LOL it was funny when we were planning our wedding. I go by both Maggie and Peg (peg by close family) and when we were doing our invitations, I laughed and said that noone would come to our wedding if we put Margaret and Timothy.. who the heck are they? They all know who Lee and Peg are!

So it is Flintstone?? Are you sure? Somehow that looks strange to me... but then maybe not too.

And you can feel free to drop the "-59" and just call me Matthew, Matt, Timothy, or Tim. Your choice. It's good to have choices isn't it?

Glad I can be of help in getting you to expand your horizons and learn more.
That's what I'm here for. I only give "nice" challenges, so that's easy to handle 'eh? I hope so!!

I was looking around on your "Only in Canada" thread earlier and came up with a question that I've had for years and years and years and.... well, you get the idea.

My question for you Maggie, since you're Canadian:
Why do Canadians refer to people in the United States as "Americans"??

My thought:
Aren't we all Americans? Canada, The United States, & Mexico, are all on the North American continent. Right??? So then, we are all Americans. Right?? Yes/No??

When I think of Canadians or Mexicans (those living in Mexico), I think of them as Americans too. Am I wrong or what??

Okay, now I gotta say something nice... just in case I haven't already. Wouldn't want to break my own rule here. LOL!!!

Prairiehiker and Maggie... ya'll are hilarious!!! I read some of the stuff you wrote on your "Only in Canada" thread and laughed my butt off!!! Thanks for the laughs! {Unfortunately, I found my butt again, so I didn't laugh it far enough off. Maybe I'll have to go back and read some more to finish the job. ]

Prairiehiker,

Just wanted to say thanks for letting me see your profile.

I like that quote you have on there by Keith Green.

Interesting....

Is that you climbing a mountain?? Looks scary and cold!

No birthday???
How will I be able to wish you a happy birthday if I don't know when it is?
Maybe I'll have to wish you a happy birthday every day so I'll be sure to hit it right at least one day.
Just kidding!!

Good question.. And good point. Being a canadian/canuk, I'll have to answer it this way

You hail from the United States of America right?
ergo, you're american... I wouldn't know what else to call it.. United staters? U.S. ers? You guys? hey you? LOL
I think being called a yankee is derogatory, so I wouldn't say that.
What state are you from? I can always call it ___________er, ________ian, ________ator,_________ite, etc etc
I guess that makes me an Ontar(ian)

Back to the challenging me! LOL

And sweetie... the only funny I am is looking! LOL LOL LOL But I'll never say no to a compliment

Maggie,

You're right, that is a quandary. I had thought of that too... What would others call us??
"People who live in the United States of America." <<<Too long to say all of that.
I guess it has to be "Americans" for short. What else could it be?? I was hoping you knew.

If you look under my avatar pic it says that I am from; The Land of 10,000 Lakes.
That's the motto for the state just south of Ontario's west side... Minnesota.
If you're from Toronto, then you live almost straight east of me, and north of New York... right?
It looks like Toronto is even a little further south than where I live. But not much.
Yes, I had to look at my globe!!

And you called me sweetie! ...but we've only just met. *blushes* LOL!!
And I doubt you are funny looking (unless you do look like that sheep).
I'll just ask your hubby on that one. *looking for his phone number*

I live close to toronto.. I can give a hint.. Hockey player Wayne Gretzky and I share the same hometown. I know it's debatable, but Alexander Graham bell invented the telephone here too..

I hope you didn't mind being called sweetie.. I use terms like that a lot as a term of endearment..
and... LOL the hubby is biased! He won't tell you I'm awful looking.. well.. maybe first thing in the morning.. I can be a little scary..

I'm not much of a sports fan. I know, that's weird for a guy, but I make no apologies for it. However, I do remember that Wayne Gretzky was, or is, a great hockey player... I just have no idea where he is from or living now. And I wouldn't debate that Mr. Bell invented the telephone in your town. I do however doubt that he just invented it last week. So, it's a good thing you didn't try to throw that at me. LOL!! *smile* I'll bet he'd be very surprized to see a cell phone... and how practically everyone has one. He'd freak!!! LOL!!

No, I don't mind being called sweetie by you. I call a friend of mine sweetie too. Well, she use to be my girlfriend over 20+ years ago, so we have that special bond, which is probably why I call her that. I would recommend though that you discuss it with your hubby before calling any other man by a name of such endearment. If he's okay with it, then I am too. However, don't just assume he is okay with it simply because he's probably never said anything before. Actually talk to him about this. Yes, I believe it's important. Reason I brought it up, is because I know how some of us guys can be somewhat insecure, or maybe it's better stated; protective of our woman, be it a girlfriend or wife. You wouldn't want to hurt his feelings I'm sure. Right?? Would you mind if he called other women "sweetie"? <<Just a thought. I have never been married, not even a girlfriend in over 14 years, but do still know how some of us guys are. That's all. Just trying to help. *smile*

And, I am sure you are a beautiful woman Maggie. I want to share with you an excerpt from a PM I sent to another woman on this forum named "BeautifulFemale". I was so impressed with her name that I had to comment on it. Here's what I said, and it applies to you as well as all women... and men.
--------------------------------
Hi BeautifulFemale,

I really like your forum name! It is so true!! And I don't even know what you look like, or even your real name, but I know for a fact that you are truly beautiful. Do you know how I know that?? I know that God never created anything less than beautiful, so since He created you, you obviously must be beautiful. You are beautiful in His eyes, and who would be able to argue with Him? Nobody!! *smile*

I guess I was just hoping that this will bring great encouragement to your heart today. Just by you creating such a wonderful forum name for yourself, tells me that you see yourself as God sees you... a Beautiful Female. I wish all women could see themselves that way. I wish all of us men could see ourselves as God sees us too. We're all beautiful in His eyes.
-----------------------------------

Her response was very nice. But, I won't share it without her permission. I try to be a man of integrity. Guess I'm just funny that way.

Hey! I just "Say Anything... Nice" about myself. Cool!!! LOL!!

You know what? I really appreciate and respect the fact that you've taken my husbands feelings into consideration. A lot of people don't and tend to try and take what I thought was friendship further than necessary and I end up in a bad spot. It's bittersweet because I am *what others would say* a very attractive woman and I get really tired of people only wanting to be my friend because they think they can get somewhere with me.
He doesn't mind me calling people sweetie.. But Honey or Hon.. that's his.

Thanks Matt.. seriously.. Thank you for wanting to be my friend for who I am and not what I look like. Thank you for respecting my husband and my marriage

Something nice.. You've got a good heart and I feel privaleged to call you friend

LOL!! Silly girl Maggie. I don't even know what you look like, so how could I be attracted to you just over this forum?? As far as I know, you look like that sheep pic you use. LOL!! Just kidding!!

But, thank you for calling me "friend". I do not take that lightly. Also something you might not have thought of and I do since you are married.... When I think of being your friend, I include your hubby in that. Reason: When the two of you got married, God then sees you as one, united in the marital covenant. You are one with your husband in marriage in God's eyes. That's the way I see you too. That's why I would never flirt with you. If I did, I'd also be flirting with your husband. Yikes!! I ain't into that. That would be an abomination against God and I ain't goin' there!! No way!! I stay clear of that sin, that's for sure. I am attracted to women, but not married women... or even women who have boyfriends. That's just the way I roll.

Thank you for your nice compliments. I do appreciate that. And you can tell your hubby I says "Hi", and that I really like his "real" first name. Gee, I wonder why that is?? LOL!!

I had no clue that my profile was still hidden. Hmmm. Anyway, yes, that was me ice climbing, but it's not a mountian. It's a climbing tower which simulates mountain slopes and conditions. It's just not as high. I live in the prairies...no real mountains here. It's really cold here. For the past few weeks, it's been -45 to -50. But the temp went up to -10 a few weeks ago when we went climbing but it's back down to -30s C this week. And no, it's not scary if you like climbing.

Sorry, I can't give any other info other than that. I love Keith Green. I don't listen to a lot of new Christian music. I like the older stuff.

Hmmmm....so I guess I have to say something nice. Matthew, I'd vernture to gess that you're good with conversations and people always feel like they matter when they're talking to you.

Prairiehiker,
I hope you weren't offended by what Psalms274 said. I think she maybe was just trying to get a point across that "Queen Poobah" could be a derogatory term. I think she was more trying to protect you by giving that information to you, just in case you didn't already know. Understand? I am certain that she meant no harm or ill will toward you. I have seen her on other posts (Prayer & Praise Reports) and know that she has a warm heart. I also know she is going through a really hard time in her life. I can relate... Hence my quote at the very bottom of my posts. I think the two of you have some things in common. You're both very nice people, and God loves you both. I do too! *smiles* ~Matt. 22:37-40

I guess since I'm 44, I tend to like the older Christian music too, but have listened to some newer stuff. Stuff that was new back about 4 or so years ago when I was yet able to listen to music. Due to health reasons, I am unable to listen to much music now. I'm not deaf. I just get really stressed and anxiety attacks from it. I can only listen to about one song and at very low volume, and that's about it for a day. I use to be a HUGE music fanatic years ago. Never did listen to much Keith Green though, and don't really know why. I know I like his music. I was really into Stryper; Bride (not their new stuff because it's steeped in false doctrine); Guardian; Newsboys; Third Day; Gaither Vocal Band; Amy Grant; Michael W. Smith; Rich Mullins; and Minnesota's own... Jason Gray, who I personally know. Check him out: www.jasongraymusic.com ...And that's just to name a few of the artists I like... or liked.

Thanks for the nice compliment you gave me. *blushes* I do so appreciate that. And I'd like to think that what you said about me is true. It's something I can't judge for myself I guess. I hope I exemplify Christ Jesus to everyone I meet and know. *smiles*

Now it's my turn to say something nice about you....
Prairiehiker, I perceive you to be a person of great inquiry and desire for truth. Yes, I've read your thread "The Bible" and know that you are seeking to know God better. There can be no higher quest than that. Those two books I recommended on your thread... get 'em and read. I just know you will enjoy them, and they will be a great help to you. I wish I could buy them for you. I would. Also, I count it an honor to have met you here... and call you my friend. *smiles & hugs*

May God bless you as you walk with Him.

I know ... I was just teasing too. It can be used as a compliment also (but I will not admit to this elsewhere for the record ) ... when you are teasing someone ... like you (!) ... you have to emphasis the side that makes 'em think, "I didn't think of that." At least that's what I was doing.

Many Blessings to all, and to all a good day!

Hold Me Jesus ~ Rich Mullins

Sometimes my life just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
And my faith just seems so small

(Chorus)
So hold me Jesus 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of peace

And I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It's so hot inside my soul I swear
There must be blisters on my heart

(repeat chorus)

Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight you for something I don't really want
Then to take what you give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls,
I'm falling down, I'm falling on my knees

And this Salvation Army band is playing this hymn
And Your grace rings out so deep,
It makes my resistance seem so thin

(repeat chorus)

-------------------------------------------------

This is the song of my life.
Thanks goes out to the late Rich Mullins for writing it.

Oooooo..... if we're able to post song lyrics here is my favorite! I think it is just beautiful and my nice words for the day.

"Our Hope Endures"
by Natalie Grant

You would think only so much can go wrong
Calamity only strikes once
And you assume that this one has suffered her share
Life will be kinder from here

Sometimes the sun stays hidden for years
Sometimes the sky rains night after night
When will it clear
But our hope endures the worst of conditions
It's more than our optimism
Let the earth quake
Our hope is unchanged

How do we comprehend peace within pain
Our joy at a good man's wake
Walk a mile with a woman whose body is torn
With illness but she marches on

Sometimes the sun stays hidden for years
Sometimes the sky rains night after night
When will it clear
But our hope endures the worst of conditions
It's more than our optimism
Let the earth quake
Our hope is unchanged

Emanuel, God is with us
El Shaddai, all sufficient
Emanuel, God is with us
El Shaddai, all sufficient
Emanuel, God is with us
El Shaddai, all sufficient

We never walk alone
This is our hope
Our hope endures, the worst of conditions
It's more than our optimism
let the earth quake
let the earth quake
let the earth quake
Our hope is unchanged

Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” ~ Matt. 22:37-40

In that respect... I love you all too!!

I'm so grateful to have found this forum. To know that there are still so many people out there who love the Lord and Jesus, so many that (as Matthew said) love their neighbor. It is so comforting to know that there are still good Christian people out there.
