Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil, and those Catholics who do so place themselves outside of the full communion of Christ's Church and under the judgment of divine law. Persons in this condition should not receive Holy Communion until and unless they are reconciled to God in the Sacrament of Penance, lest they eat and drink their own condemnation Shoot, I may just have to become Catholic if they have wise and strong leaders like this! Of course I am kidding, but I wonder why there haven't been more prominent Protestant pastors/preachers/reverends/ministers that have stated the truth as boldly as this. Too many namby-pambies out there who aren't willing to stand on God's word.

Though if one's heart isn't right taking communion can be bad for your health... Folks died in the bible...

Fenced table meaning communion only open to those who are "right" with God (I assume). I don't completely agree with this, but the Lord's Supper IS supposed to be done in remembrance of Jesus, and you can't really be in full communion with Him if you are in willful sin... anyway, I was more impressed with the "cooperation with intrinsic evil" bit.

It can be very dangerous according to the bible to be in willing sin, while taking the Lord's supper. I am with you, on pastors not speaking out, priest seemed more outspoken against Obama, except for the crazy one that is his friiend do not recall his name. quote:

ORIGINAL: lightshineon A fenced table? Enlighten me John. The latter verses of 1 Corinthians 11 covers the subject... It's a term... Pastors and Elders in a sense guard the communion table... People are to examine themselves and it's arguably the duty of the Pastor and Elders having oversight of the flock to make sure that people don't make mockery of the Lord's Supper... Some Reformed Churches and Covenanters generally have a fenced table where only members are allowed and not visitors. It's a bit to read, but this is very good stuff on the subject... http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/2865.htm

I guess you're right. Everyone who considers themself a sinner should forgo communion; it is only for perfect people. I think you're interpreting Paul the wrong way. quote:
The Lord's Supper isn't a joke... As stated, people got sick and died who partook hat didn't respect it... Church's and folks that treat it like a snack are asking for it... It isn't a joke and we should take the Lord's Supper seriously; it was paid for by the blood of Christ, and what Paul is actually getting at is that those who understand and respect this are worthy of Communion.

The bible doesn't have to say verbatim it's wrong to support someone who champions evil agendas... One's choice of whatever and whomever is accountable... As well the church has a standard and if people don't desire to honor those standards they should find a group that shares their view... quote:
It's been pointed out here numerous times why this line of thinking is faulty both from theological and pragmatic perspectives. By those who believe they can claim Christ and support agendas that conflict with His word... Though I haven't seen much of a theological perspective, other than people claiming to be Christians saying it's wrong which doesn't make it a theological perspective, but a rationalization.

Which is why "high standards" are an issue for you? Btw. we got at what Paul was getting at 10 posts ago...

I applaude the Priest for holding to the Principles of the church. I think its about time that American Churches rediscover this little thing called Church Discipline. I think that if more churches practicecd church discipline like they are suppose to America would not be in the shape it is today.
