I have $2 left on my iTunes card and I want to use it to buy some SG that I may not have heard of before. So... what do you think are the best 2 SG songs available that I should download? The songs with the most suggestions get downloaded.

I have so many favorites, it would be very difficult to narrow it down to just two. Maybe you could go to youtube and see if there are songs that have videos there that you don't already have on your list. That way you could download them after hearing them in their entirety...

Just a thought. Like I said, there's no way I could narrow it down to just two.

I would also suggest the second song but by Greater Vision rather than the Freemans because I like GV's version better.

"God Handled It All" and "I Believe" both by Gold City

...or the Dove Award winning "Long As I Got King Jesus" by BF&A, "When God Ran" by the Kingsmen, or SN Song of the Year "He Saw It All" by the Booth Brothers.

If you like straight-ahead, solid SG songs by a phenomenal, kickin' male quartet, go with Gold City's songs from their days with legendary bass singer Tim Riley.

Wow, this is tough! But narrowing it down to stuff still in print makes it a little easier.

I think I'll recommend:

"Till the Storm Passes By" by Greater Vision, off of NQC Live Vol. 1. This was recorded just a few days after 9/11 (which happened during NQC 01) and the response this song gets is just amazing.

and then, either (if you like ballads)
"The Depths of the Fathers' Love" by the Kingdom Heirs, off of NQC Live 2002

or (if you like quartet songs)
"I Know I'm Going There" by the Kingdom Heirs, off of NQC Live Vol. 4

I did confirm that all three tracks are available on iTunes.

Here's a few suggestions:

What We Needed - Kingdom Heirs
When God Ran - Kingsmen
Hello After Goodbye - Legacy Five

Here are a few I really enjoy . . .

He Never Sleeps - Mark Bishop
Meanwhile - Legacy Five

. . .I recommend those two because they have strong messages to them.

(He Never Sleeps is a slow song, you might even hear it on the radio, it's Mark's new single. And Meanwhile is a medium tempo bass feature).

I see several people recommended "When God Ran" by the Kingsmen which is a good song. On the second one, you may just need to eenie meenie miney moe.

I was going to recommend the live version of the song, but then I realized that NQC 2008 wasn't out yet.

I like both versions, but I think I like Greater Vision's a little better. But then, I admit I probably start out biased to a rendition by the writer of a song (or a group he's in).

I like The Freemans version a little better, but that's probably because It was the first version I heard. It is hard (but not impossible) for someone to top the first version I hear of a song. Or maybe it's because the Freemans make it sound a little more Pentecostal than Greater Vison does. BTW, I am Pentecostal.

I agree. The CD version is good, but the live version is soooo much better. If it don't make it on to NQC 2008 then Crossroads has badly missed the boat.

same here. GV does a good job but its more i dont know professional sounding. Freemans sounds like one can clap hands to and sing aloud in Church

Controlled / contained enthusiasm vs. unbridled enthusiasm?

Yes, and they just have to include the encore with Billy Hodges' high ending! I never got to see the Kingsmen in their Big and Live days, but after hearing that, I think I know what it must have felt like to be there!

Hey, you two! You don't think you're a little biased, do you? I can unbiasedly say the Freeman's version is the better one. (Okay. Maybe I am slightly biased.)

There is absolutely no way to limit this to two songs, but "God Wants to Hear You Sing" would be at the top of my list!!
