Yeah, I hear the lies from the enemy too, and I rarely remember to turn to my other shoulder (where the angel is ) to hear the truth.

I'm trying not to let this get to me (the enemy immediately piped up and whispered "see? not even your own mother gets excited about being with you...nobody gets excited about being with you. No one ever will. You are not exciting to be with...in fact, no one wants to be with you because you're ugly and never any fun, never any good for anyone...yadda yadda--I'm still trying to shut him up.)

shallbe

Shallbe - It is good that you recognize that this is the enemy. This rejection/ugly/not fun thing is a BIG lie straight from the pit of hell. satan tries that trick over and over again - to get you to make condemn or believe lies about yourself based on a circumstance. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried it on you at different points in your life previous to this time; there is nothing new under the sun.

The reality is that you are simply at a point in your life where you are a single mom with kids - you are in school - you have a lot on your plate. What you are experiencing now is not uncommon. It certainly does not mean that you are rejected, unlovable, ugly, or that you never have any fun. No, you are just in this place for right now, and a time is coming when you will not be. You are such a neat person (I've thought that to myself several times since I've posted here) with a lot to offer. You seem quite thoughtful - genuine. It also seems like you tend to notice those that would otherwise be unnoticed. When I first started posting here, you were one of the first people to reach out to me, and I appreciated it greatly. Shallbe, in the right time, God will bring friends into your life - or he'll prompt you to make changes so that you'll be more open or might initiate some things. They'll be people that you enjoy and that enjoy you. There is absolutely no way that God is going to let all of your "coolness" go to waste .

You be blessed today!

I am with those who find themselves becoming more comfortable doing things alone as they get older. There was a time when I wouldn't even dream of going to a movie alone, but that has definitely changed now. If there's something that I want to see and my friends aren't available I will go alone and enjoy it very much. Valentine's Day is normally a real drag for me, but last year there was a new flick that premiered on Valentine's Day and I went by myself to see it and had a really nice time! As for dining out, if I'm going to eat alone I do feel more comfortable going at less-busy times of day, and I usually take a great book and no one seems to notice.

Sunday? Meh, that is a long ways away.

Here you go:

I'm just a lonely boy, lonely and blue
I'm all alone with nothin' to do
I've got everything you could think of
But all I want is someone to love
Someone, yes, someone to love, someone to kiss
Someone to hold at a moment like this
I'd like to hear somebody say
"I'll give you my love each night and day"
Somebody, somebody, somebody, please send her to me
I'll make her happy, just wait and see
I prayed so hard to the heavens above
That I might find someone to love

I know. God will provide. Fall is difficult for me as it was our time to get out and shoosh through the leaves and do the little crafty shopping that M liked so much.

I know the feeling....I felt sad when I read your posts about readying the yard for winter. My husband and I used to do that together, and I always enjoyed it so much. It was like the passage into the holidays. I really miss all those simple things. I really did not know how special they were until now. Hmm. my husband hated shopping for crafts.....

I will go out alone, although I normally end up meeting someone to talk to anyway! I seem to be a people magnet, not for sure why though...LOL! (Which is cool unless they are a creepy guy with more eyeliner on than I wear, just a little strange!)

I don't go out to restaurants alone, usually. If I do, I go ahead and do a carry out most times. But I do go out to church and church functions alone. If I don't go alone, I basically wouldn't go, and that's not an option. I do love my church and my church family.

I empathize with John, though. Even in a crowd, I still feel alone. I try not to let it get to me most of the time. It certainly doesn't solve anything to dwell on it. But, it's usually there. Although Jesus is always there. I just wish that He was physically tangible... I just want to cuddle, KWIM?

Be thankful for that.
People don't tend to talk to me unless they know me.
I went out alone tonight to the coffeehouse. Spoke briefly to a couple of people I know, but nothing else happened very interesting. I got some typing done.
Another autumn...

As of yet I have not. If I can't find someone to go along with me, I just don't go at all. What's the fun of going places or seeing movies/concerts if you have no one to discuss them with later?

I hear ya. Although if I do go, I usually call one of my friends and make them listen... more poor kind friends!

If you are 'deep in the heart of TX' it's too bad you are not closer to the desert of west TX cuz you might have a buddy to do stuff with then.

I've been to the cinema alone once. No desire to repeat the experience. No films I wanted to see that badly. I felt a little uncomfortable.

Lunching by myself is ok in the park, or in the canteen. Not in a restaurant.

Ok, I thought to come out of hiding and post for a change ...

I go out alone often, though I wish I had someone who I could call in the spurt of the moment to do stuff with. The level of comfort depends on where I go and when. I go to coffee shops, movies, and casual eateries alone most of the time and enjoy it, but I probably would not feel secure and would feel like some lonely loser doing so on a Friday or Saturday night (date night).

Last night I went to a concert (Thursday night) I really wanted to attend, but since I knew that there was a small chance I might be late getting there (knew I couldn't get off early that day and it's a rush hour drive from work to the concert venue) I did not try to ask anyone to go with me. Actually it seems like almost all my friends dislike concerts so the truth is there is no one to ask , thereby the reason I don't even bother asking.....

My worst fear at these types of events is to run into people I know (acquaintances/friends of friends) and have them notice I'm ALONE. That's an example of a situation when I feel lonely in a crowd (other than have Jesus' protection over me). Unfortunately, I ran into a group of married couples and singles with dates . Only one person saw me (I think) and I waved at her while walking away. You'd think on a Thursday night it'd be less likely to run into this vs a weekend night, oh well. I pretended to be on a cell phone my whole way out of that concert, yes, pathetic isn't it LOL.

I still did not want to be seen but I really did not want to miss this one concert so I went. I considered going to the same concert but in a different city so I would be unlikely to see anyone I know, but decided to swallow my pride and just go to the one in my town instead (and save several times as much money on concert, plus air & hotel costs).

Yes, I do go out alone, on occassion. Mostly to the movies, when there's a show that I want to see that no one else is interested in. I don't feel uncomfortable going to the cinema alone, but is it a bit cumbersome managing your snacks and drink and trying to push down the seat at the same time. Somehow mankind unintentionally built cinemas for twosomes.

I swore that I would never eat alone, but what's a person to do when it's lunchtime and you're hungry. I remember a friend of mine being aghast that I would go to the cinema alone, she said that she would go to the beach alone, but never the cinema. I, on the other hand, would never go to the beach alone.

I don't go to movies . . . whether alone, or with someone else.

I do go out to breakfast and lunch alone.

I don't go out to dinner alone; but that is because I don't drive, and I'm not wild about walking, biking or bussing after dark. Although I'm trying to overcome that. When I do, I can imagine myself going someplace at night alone.

I go to the theatre alone.

I go to art galleries alone.

I walk all over town alone.

In the summer, I take the chair lift up Snow King alone and hike around up there.

etc., etc., etc.

I would do day hikes (alone) out in the Park (Grand Teton National Park), but I can't get out there without a driver.

I don't mind doing things alone. Sometimes I actually prefer it.
The times when I don't want to go somewhere alone, I will either stay home and amuse myself there, or I will call a friend to go with me.

If someone calls me up to do something together, I'm all for it . . . but it's not a necessity for me.

When CS was alive, we were practically joined at the hip . . . we went everywhere together. I loved that. But, what I loved about it was WHO I was with; not that I was with just anyone.

I loved being married to CS; I loved doing things with him.

But. I am no longer married; I am a single person. And as long as I am / will be single, I plan on enjoying myself . . . and if that means that I do things by myself, then so be it.

I go out alone......and as i've gotten older i've felt more comfortable going out. I even went out for my birhday dinner by myself! That was a little weird......feeling......i had a great dinner.....but, just kept being drawn to people around me who were with someone.
Anywayz......i've gone to places like, Panera by myself for dinner. Thats a little more enjoyable with the high backings on the booths and tables, etc.
Movies.....yeah, i've gone a couple of times.....the first time was for the Lord of the Rings......me and my sisters had gone to the first two on opening night.......but they didnt want to go to the third one......well, i was like, Tradition said so! lol sooooo...............i took myself to see that one on opening night......and then a week later went out again w/them.....to see it all together!
ummm................i am learning i guess to enjoy me, more and more!
like, now that i am actually making a decent (sp?) wage......i'll be able to do exploring......and i think i'll have a fine time looking around by myself!
