I've got my cards, but I'll wait till I get the bookmarks for my book so I can include one in each card.

That's a lovely thing to do, Maggie.

Thanks, Trish. It's why I ordered them.

I looked at my mailing list last night to see who should get the 200 Christmas cards I have. I was as sparing as I could be, but I still counted close to 300. Nope. Can't do that. But what to do? There are some people to whom I'm sending announcements about my book that would feel hurt if they didn't also get a Christmas card. So I found a solution. I always include a Christmas letter about the family in my cards. Some years I've printed the letters on nice Christmas stationary in matching envelopes instead of cards. So this year, the ones who won't be getting cards, will get one of these Christmasy letters and all is solved. I'm so pleased with myself. (You all here are getting cards.)

I'm going to be purchasing my cards either this evening or tomorrow, and I'll start the addressing right after that. Not sure, though, if the "Blessing Letter" is going to be included this year; I haven't heard from the Lord yet. It's very tempting to lay off this year after all that Mary and I have been through, but writing that letter may be just the thing to do. I'll wait and see.

Well, whether you send a letter or not is fine with me, Duane. If He gives you something, then great. If He doesn't, then maybe it's a year to recover.

Good idea, Maggie.

I still haven't decided whether to make cards or buy them. I think I'll make them....I just bought several ink cartridges, so maybe I should get creative.

I'm printing envelopes as we speak. I figured out mail merge. I'm so relieved. Last year I printed them one address at a time. This is much easier.

Yeah, mail merge can be fun, once you get the hang of it.

Well, I've had a few hiccups with it. The card envelopes were fine. The business envelopes took forever to make sure everything was aligned right. And then I forgot to put in the state/province field for a bunch of them. Oh! And for some reason, there were blank lines in the middle of some of the addresses so those had to be fixed and redone, but I didn't know how to tell which would do that ahead of time. Finally I figured out the problem, but had to go through each address in the database individually to find which ones would do that.

Some of the business envelopes are a very soft blue with white snowflakes scattered over them. They're so pretty. They have stationary to match.

I will probably work on mine while tending the store tomorrow. Now you guys have me wanting to play with mail merge. I should make a mailing list of all my past e-bay customers!

Anyway, I need to get going on the cards! I need to design special labels for the exchange. The ones I have are designed for my pen-paling.

It's been years since I did mail merge. I've forgotten how now. Oh well, just as easy to print them on. Time consuming, but oh well...

So that means I didn't address cards at basketball the week before...

There's still plenty of time, MBee.

All my envelopes and letters are printed. Now I have to clean up the horrendous mess around the place I sit with my computer so I can start the hand-writing, folding, stuffing and stamping parts. I think this is when it would be a good time to watch an entire season or two of some TV show on DVD. Someone in the house has West Wing on DVD, except for the first two seasons. I might watch that.

I can relate to the mess part, Maggie. I've got cards in the lounge room in piles waiting for me to mail.

We've got people coming over for lunch tomorrow and I need to tidy everything up. I've also been trying to make some of my gifts too, which also needs to be tidied up. I SO don't have the energy for this.

I started writing my Christmas letter today. I hope I can get it finished this weekend and get the cards designed. Then I'll print them off when I get home.

I didn't do a Christmas letter this year. My mother did and had me laughing quite hysterically.

She mentioned the family cruise we all took together and how when we were swimming with the dolphins in Cozumel, she couldn't keep her bum in the water. She had to have some local boy hold her down and then ended up kicking him in the groin by accident.

Ahhhh....good times with the family.
