I guess I would then ask how much your family makes esp with your husband working 60 hours a week.

G

We're military lol. Enough said?

Thank you and your husband for his service to the country.

first, thank you for your families service to the nation. I personally appreciate it.

I live in a military town, that consists of a navy base and a nuclear submarine base.

So is it that you are struggling because you are behind or is it that you are struggling because you are not making enough money to meet current bills. Do you live in military housing? you do have military health care right?

Well that's all a bit personal but I'm not a private person. We're both behind and not making enough. I know the next question will be why so I'll answer it before it's asked. I was receiving disability and that ended abruptly. Because of that our income was drastically reduced. We do not live in military housing because there was none available, we were living in a hotel for 2 weeks when we decided to take a home off base. At the time, when we were making more money, it was affordable. On top of that not long after the disability ran out I found out I was pregnant. Why did I get pregnant when we were short on finances? Because I thought I was unable to conceive... Yes, we get military health insurance, but we also have to pay for that.

And to the other poster... no I'm not here for advice. I'm posting here because it seemed to be the common idea that if you work hard you will have lots of money. My husband works very hard, I am unable to. No, don't ask what my disability is, that's personal. I'm posting so that others can see that there are hard working people who struggle financially.

Rami, if you don't mind my asking...what branch of the military is your hubby in? Has the base housing been privatized where you are stationed, and are you on a list to get onto base housing?

It sounds like you guys should also qualify for WIC, if you haven't already done that. That would help with groceries.

What about your church family and those you helped in the past when you were able to work? Have you turned to them for advise and guidance? Our church is small and relatively poor. However we work in cooperation with hundreds of other churches in our area to provide free counseling of all sorts, free medical help for your family, free food, free meals already cooked, free temporary housing, free school uniforms and supplies for your children, and a host of other services that are too long for me to post.

I am a Christian. I have a disabled neighbor who lives down the road from me. She has NO FAMILY and has been pretty much homebound for the past 25 years. Meaning she really has no friends other than those of us from my church who have chosen to "befriend" her.

Because it's not just the federal gov. wanting to take more money from me but the state and local govs as well I am going to have "less" to give to her and her taxes have gone up as well. (our local gov. use to exempt elderly and disabled from some taxes we pay.....because the fuel prices, katrina and a slight drop in our economy they have now decided to tax both the elder and disabled in our area) Our Chruch is helping to pay these increased taxes on these SOME of these people don't have the "ability" to do any sort of work or increase their income. They simply don't have the money.

One of my "pet peeves" is that the government wants me a taxpayer pay for converter boxes for people. Why in the world is the government involved in that sort of wasteful spending!!!!!

When people ask "more" of the taxpayer they are asking them to not only provide for our military, civil servants, buildings, etc. they are asking us to give up the people we KNOW in our lives who are hurting and allow them to "hire" people, build yet another building and stock it with supplies inorder to turn around and give people who may or may not need help a "fraction" of what they took from us.

We the workers and taxpayers know better than the government WHO really needs help in our areas. We are able to give that assistant in an extremely cost efficient mannor. When we are allowed to help people in that way we are doing it from love not force. Those to recieve the help give God not the government glory and it saves them the humiliation of having to ask "strangers" for their money or help.

It appears to me that you understand what I do. The government is NOT the one who is most dependable/reliable to give you help when you really need it. It's the people in your life who know you personally. The less taxes we are forced to pay the more help we can give to the people in our church, family and community that are truly in need.

P3, it's great that you can see a need in your community and that you have a desire to fill it. Unfortunately if there were no taxes there would be very few people getting any help. Most people do not care about what is going on in their neighbors life. If it were not for taxes who would assist us in buying my daughters formula? That is 300 dollars a month, I don't know anyone who would.

But we are not "most people". We are Children of the Creator of the Universe.

God cares. He provided for His children an umbrella of protection. It's called our local fellowship or church. In scripture God gives us the best instruction for how to get the help we may need in a way that draws both the giver and the reciever closer to Him.

Are you a part of a local fellowship?
Start today calling around to see where your friends attend who are Christians. Ask if they know of the work of the Chruch in your area.

There is somewhere else you may want to go. MOPS that stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. It's a Christian organization for mothers of preschoolers. They do all sorts of things. They have what are called Mentor Moms who are older and may be able to direct you to may of the Christian Charities in your area and a good Chruch close to where you are living.

www.mops.org

go there to find out more about the organization and a group that may be close to you.

Thanks. I have a great church but no one is going to pay my bills lol. I'm just one of many in this area who are struggling right now. It's life.

I don't think she is suggesting that anyone pay your bills. But I think there is help out there.
