I never complained on the forum or in RL about having a problem with too much money so I don't know where you get that from.

I have prayed before that God would slow it down or stop but I have never complained.

My complaint is that people want to spend OPM and NOT support the military with "their money".

If you have bills that you cannot pay I would suggest you sell whatever you have and/or get another job or a second or third one. I have found that working all the time "stops" dead in it's tacks wasteful spending.

I'm asking because I sincerely do not know. I know basics about taxation, but not much. For someone who earns, say, $600K a year, what is the general complaint regarding their taxation?

I'm curious why you think that I spend wastefully? You seem to have a big problem with people who don't make as much as you do. How sad.

If you must know, I do not work, but I did enjoy that 1200 stimulus you gave me. That was very kind. Can't wait for the next one. Since you also seem to have a problem with people who don't work I'll take this opportunity to tell you that my husband works 60+ hours a week and we have a 4 week old baby. That must be the wasteful spending you're talking about! Spending all this money on diapers when we just use them and throw them away, what a waste!

Just sayin'

Sure, I'll get right out and do that. Except it would cost more for daycare than I would make. Thanks for the input tho. Fantastic advice!

I think most people spend wastefully and don't even know it. this happens when we think our wants are our needs.

I am not saying you don't at all. But When people start talking bout not having money and needing stimulus money, I ask a few questions:

1. Do you have the internet.
2. Do you have a cell phone.
3. Do you have a budget.
4. Do you eat out.
5. Do you go out to movies
It could go on and on and this is NOT directed at you but I think in general that people almost look at the above and more as needs and not wants.

I could never find fault in anyone who wants to stay home with their children while they are young. Some simply cannot fathom doing such a thing. Personally, I think it's a great choice. Obviously, if you can't afford life's simple necessities, then it might not be such a great choice. It might take some adjustments and sacrifices. I'm not sure why the above question was asked. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I sort of took it to mean you were implying she shouldn't get that stimulus check because she doesn't work. Some people turn their nose up to women who choose to stay home with the children and not work. I hope noone here would do such a thing

I don't think it's a bad thing to stay at home either!

Rami my post was general in nature and not specific.

May not have been directed at me but since I seem to be the topic lol I'll answer it anyway.

1. Internet, yes. Cable, no.
2. Cell phone, yes. Home phone, no.
3. Budget- yes.
4. Eat out, no.
5. Movies, no. And I don't buy DVD's either. Or CD's for that matter.

I'm putting my personal life on blast here because it seems as though some think that honest, hard working people don't need some extra help sometimes.

I think if you really need help there are really ways to get it. I think there are other ways besides a stimulus package to get it, that will be beneficial to you.

I am a penny pincher, always have been. I live the same now as I did when I was making half of what I am making. I like to have every single penny accounted for. It's just how I am.

Well it's not like she's applying for a stimulus check like someone would apply for welfare. She's either going to get it or she's not going to get it. I agree that are government is run by a bunch of quacks and the debt of our country as a whole is very unhealthy, but I'm not sure any of us have a say in the stimulus package. I guess if one is so opposed to it, they can tear the check up.

first, thank you for your families service to the nation. I personally appreciate it.

I live in a military town, that consists of a navy base and a nuclear submarine base.

So is it that you are struggling because you are behind or is it that you are struggling because you are not making enough money to meet current bills. Do you live in military housing? you do have military health care right?

Did you want suggestions, advice or budgeting help with those bills that you cannot pay? There's a wealth of information to be found from the people who post in the Finance Forum.

I don't think you stand for the majority of the people. Most people in the lower economic community where I live welcomed the stimulus package.

You mean most of the people welcomed the TAX WELFARE since they aren't paying taxes to start with

But you should not force the individual who "did sacrifice" to pay more in taxes than you did. That person needs to be able to savor the fruits of their reward whatever that reward may be.

I should not force you to give up time with your children and no one should force me to give up my money because they "chose" to spend more time at home.

I disagree. If you earn more money, you pay more taxes. Period.

But you DO pay MORE in tax! I fail to see why you should pay a HIGHER percentage than the next guy!

I'm good with that, and like you I pay a healthy 6-figure amount of tax. Anyone who wants to pay less in taxes is welcome to earn less if they choose. Most of the people I know in my bracket just aren't willing to make that choice.

Then make a contribution of the amount you think should be paid but don't tell the rest of us that we should happily pay more! We shouldn't as a percentage of income be forced to pay a higher amount.

Am I thinking of someone else or isn't it you who said you didn't have a job?

Must be someone else since I have a job (tax accountant/volunteer EMT/fireman) but you can have it if you need it.....I'm sure I can find/create another one. I do know that I could not sit around for very long and let someone else support me on welfare

They pay a disproportionate share of the tax and a significantly higher percentage of their income is taxed. The percentage should be equal, acroos the board in order to bring equity back to the system

I agree that it is commendable to stay home and focus on raising your kidlets. Thank you Rami for the sacrifice.

That being said if you pay NO taxes then you should NOT be getting the stimulus check
