ORIGINAL: Grace-N-Mercy Y'know, I just remembered why I had backed off my Bible study a few months ago... I felt I was doing more studying/reading than actually living out what it said. Yeah, I was feeling guilty too, like I wasn't living up to what He expected of me. Just being honest here. I know we're not supposed to feel guilty, but I did/do. I think I backed off because I was seeing the Bible under a microscope instead of stepping back and seeing the whole picture. Under the microscope, I was becoming very anxious; with the big picture, I could just see God for who He was. Ooh, Grace-N-Mercy, good point! I wonder how many people give up on God because they might see a specific without the balance of all of God's Word, and figure it's impossible to do? The biggest over-all I've seen (next year God will probably show me more, if I'm paying attention ) is that we are sinners and God forgives sinners and teaches them how to live. There's lots of room in that. Thank God!

I think part of this guilt and shame issue stems from how your parents raised you. If you were always shamed, you'd always feel shame when you make a mistake. And it snowballs into every relationship that we have, including our heavenly relationships. So, that could be why I was feeling guilty or shamed. I believe there's a big difference between feelign convicted about my sins, and being shamed. For example, a month ago, I felt that I had done something really wrong to someone. I was deeply convicted of my wrongs and I felt led to ask for forgiveness which I did. It took a while for me not to feel the guilt, but I am finally feeling as though I've been forgiven by God. Now, I only ask God that He would create a time and place when I can ask the person for forgiveness, which is not possible at this time. But I didn't feel ashamed or guilty, though I was guilty. I felt loved and corrected. That's the difference when God truly nudges you.
