Honestly, yes, he is lately.

Cool on saving an afternoon trip, Kylie! So not everyone gets a spot on the bus there?

Garsy, does her homework count for much gradewise? Or you just want to make sure she gets it?

I just want to make sure she gets it and understands what she is doing. Math skills are something that build on each other over the years and it is important to me that she understands so she doesn't have problems in the long run. I don't know for sure how much homework reflects on her overall grade - that's what I wanted to talk to her math teacher about today - but I didn't see her at all, which is really odd really. I usually see her every time I'm in the building. Aryn said she was in school today - so maybe she was just hiding out in her classroom and busy with something. I'll drop her an e-mail this weekend and see if I can get a chance to talk to her next Tuesday when I'm in the building again.

Blessings,

Garsy

If you book in before the beginning of the year then you are much more likely to get one, but I started working in early March when school was already one month into the new year.

There are public buses J and X could have caught but they would have been dropped off about two kms from home in an area I really wouldn't have felt safe with them being in every afternoon.

{{{Donna}}} I wish I had some advice for you.

I'm having issues, not with Linz but with a teacher. Linz has an A- average except for this one class. She has a C-. She is a new teacher, and Linz says no one is doing well. I'm not quite sure how to approach it. From what I understand the stuff on the test is not what the kids are told to study. There is no homework, all she does is grade from tests and quizzes. Linz doesn't choke on tests, so ... I'd email her but conferences are the 27th so I will find out exactly what is going on. I am sure I am not the only parent with concerns.

We are dealing with the same thing with Rae (6 year old). She loves to throw out the "I don't know" when you ask her a question. The other day she had cut a hole in her pants (in the crotch area). When the teacher questioned her she came up with this elaborate story that the night before Zach had a pair of scissors and she fell on them. Cutting a hole in her pants is one thing, but flat out lying to her teacher really cuts the cake.

I don't even want to think about ants. We've battled carpenter ants for way too long. But, now those are decent sized ants!

The neighbor at out rental house told me I need to be checking for carpenter ants at the house because they had been battling them. When Larry went to move a few sheets of old plywood, way back in the yard, there was a hive or nest or whatever you call it, of carpenter ants. They had moved to california though, so I didn't get a chance to tell them we destroyed the nest and the ants.

and of course, out here at the farm it seems like we can't find all the nests. Larry did burn a big one in a tree, and I've been setting out Terro liquid bait traps.

I wonder if she had a motive or was just messing around. Sometimes jeans have a thick center where all that material comes together, and it could have rubbed her wrong.

What a story.

Did you ask Rae about it yet?

Or fire ants! We had to burn out a fire ant nest, or the contractors did before they dug the foundation of our house. Those ants were NASTY! Thankfully it wasn't a big hill and they must have gotten them all because we haven't seen any since.

We went to the zoo today on the free passes Aryn has won over the past couple of months. It was the last day this year that the zoo would be open so it was very busy! But we spent nearly 3 1/2 hours there and took it nice and slow and had a lot of fun! Ty's girlfriend came with us too.

Before hand though we thought we might have to be off to the ER! There is a tree right in front of the zoo in the picnic area that has a low branch that kids climb on and hang from all the time. Ty - in his usual fashion was playing possom and hanging by his hands and legs and he slipped! He landed flat on his back in a mass of acorns! He had the wind knocked out of him and by the time we got to him finally had gasped his first breath and was able to sit up! He hit HARD and on those acorns! I was more worried about him bruising a kidney. He was in a LOT of pain. We just sat there for a long time until he was able to catch his breath and breathe normally. He's got a good bump on his head too. His poor girlfriend was near tears for the kid. Kelly's a cutie tho and he ended up going to church with her and her family tonight. She was homeschooled up until this year so this is her first year in public school and her twin brothers 3rd. Ty is friends with him too.

We had to get our brakes fixed on the van today too. Thankfully the brake pads were only about $20 and we have a friend that will install them in exchange for zucchini bread. Brian and his friend were done installing them in a half hour. It will take me longer to get the bread made Monday night so Brian can take it into town for him Tuesday morning!

So now we are hanging out at home - It's pizza night, so supper was very easy and everyone else is watching the NasCar race!

Blessings,

Garsy

How scary for Ty!

I'm sick so I'm not doing much. I was in bed but Linz got locked out and now I let the dog out so I'm just killing time till she comes back in, then I'm going back to bed

Gotta share this somewhere - I'm irked at my mom. Why? Well, there was a situation where I work and I didn't tell her when I was talking to her. Why not? Because I didn't know, and then when I did know, I didn't know much and didn't want to gossip and it didn't effect her.

She found out. And she was peeved I didn't tell her and made a snippy - jokey remark in an email, along with a serious comment. I responded professionally to the serious question the way my employer would want me to. Why, instead of calling? - because I was torqued by the snippy comment and it was safer to email. I ignored the snippy part.

I wasn't truely irked until I got her reply that was almost mean if you hear it in the tones that my mom would use.

Poppa is peeved, I'm peeved and meanwhile I really wish I was scheduled off work today...better days are coming. I know that.

I'm not saying anything else about it. If you want to pray for the sitution - pray that my mom doesn't email or call us about work again, that my co-workers think before they speak, that we all have wisdom as well as discernment in all things but particularily this situation.

And, now that I have it out of my system...if you know me, you know I won't answer any questions about what happened because it would be identifying information.

One of the things I like about CW is that you can say that you won't say any more and most folks respect that. In this case, I'm not only protecting my identify, I'm protecting my job. Back to my mom for a second. I'm not saying ANYTHING that isn't public knowledge or common sense because to do otherwise could be considered grounds for dismissal.

LOL! I do that sometimes. Probably should do it more often.

Noah doesn't have school Thursday because there will be a funeral at the church. Haven't decided yet if he'll go to the funeral with us or not. He and Brian did a lot of handyman type work for this man and his wife. The wife teaches kindergarten at the CS, so the school would have closed for the funeral even if it wasn't at the church.

I went to J's subject choices night with him tonight. He's looking at Graphics, Home Economics, and Information Technology as his preferred choices with Music, Hospitality and Drama as his fall backs. He has to have his preferences in by Friday.

That's Kath!

I'm headed to school in about an hour. Working with the art teacher this afternoon. And hopefully getting a chance to talk to the principal as well. Zoe's got a girl scout meeting after school as well. Aryn and I will likely go grocery shopping while Zoe is at her meeting. It will save me a little bit of time and not leave the boys to fend for themselves too long.

Speaking of girl scouts - I think I found Aryn a new troop! It only meets once a month at the school and then they sometimes so other field trips and service projects outside of the school! In November this group is going to one of the Ronald McDonald houses in town here and fixing a meal for the family there! I have a feeling this is Aryn's last year in scouts too. It's just hard to find groups - especially for the girls, that go past elementary school.

Ty was pretty stiff Sunday after his fall on Saturday. Poor kid. I don't know if I mentioned it earlier but he didn't get a part in the school play. He was a bit upset by it but is more then willing to work on the crew and backstage. It'll be a new experience for him and that is a good thing!

Blessings,

Garsy

Hey all!!

Kath, I hope you feel better. I've been getting sinus headaches so I started spraying my nose with saline. It seems to work.

Garsy, poor TY. Ds has fallen out of a few trees in his short life. Thankfully, he's never broken anything.

Mamabee, how's the church thing going??

Kylie, I thought about you a few weeks ago because Darlene Check( I know I spelled her name wrong) was at our church. She's very energetic for a Sunday morning. We also have an Aussie on staff who's taken a lead pastor postition and he's really good.

Everyone here is fine. Dd is going to homecoming this weekend and I'm nervous for her. She's never been to a dance before and has only danced at a wedding awhile ago. I have to buy her a purse and a few other things for her big day. I'm just doing laundry today.

Deb, who is the Aussie on staff there? I'm wondering if it will be a familiar name.

I think the surname is spelt Zschech or something like that.

The Church thing?

On Friday night, the plan was to go to church at the church that offers the 8:30 service and then Sunday School, then go get the Boy Scout at camp. But when he got there his psudo-concussive headache got the better of him so he came home. He still needed to be there Sunday at 11 so the plan became go to the worship service only, leave to get him to his meeting but we'd need to RUN so that he wouldn't be late.

Then SOMETHING HAPPENED I can't say what but I couldn't go in that direction. The road was CLOSED!

(Kath, back me up on the something happened thing - please)

This week the men are in camp and I think I may go without them.

The kicker being his meeting time was changed and no one told him so we got him there at 10:45 and it was already done.

There are two work things, one is winding down, the other still worries me... But at least I am doing something to fix each problem as best I can...

Kylie, what sorts of things do they teach in Hospitality? I've never heard of that.

Kath, that's the worst. It's not just the sickness, it's the annoyance about not being able to fix it! I hope you feel better.

Donna, have you decided about the funeral yet? I, for one, am all for taking kids to funerals. It helps them understand death, or at least not be afraid of it. I know too many people who were sheltered from funerals as kids, and now as adults have a very hard time with death and funerals.

Garsy, now that you mention it, I don't see older girl scouts at all. I know there are active boy scout troops for older kids, tho. I miss my popcorn seller this year! I have gotten a cookie order in, tho.

Mbee, I am getting so frustrated with my church that I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it. This election is really drawing people apart. I hope that most of it is superficial and it will die down, but it's still hard to deal with. Maybe it's just not a god time to find a church!

Deb, I don't think you need to know how to actually dance at a school dance. From what I remember, it's mostly just bouncing around.

It's been a good week so far. Monday and Tuesday are our quiet days. Han has band today, and Gracen has his pumpkin patch field trip. It is WARM- been in the 70s all week, and supposed to be near 80 this weekend. My baby turns 5 on Friday (!), so we'll be making cupcakes tomorrow. I have the cake mix but need to get some frosting.

LOl, I'm picturing these teens bouncing.

I made my kids watch 16 Candles because of the dance and a few other very funny things only to realize that there were a few scenes I forgot about. I felt real guilty. The last time I saw it was on tv and cut. So just thought, check your favorite movie before your kids see it.

Oh, Emjay, about church - I went this weekend simply because ds wanted to go to his group and I was really blessed. Our church had it's 33 yr. anniv. and Chuck Girard was there. I guess his music really inspired them in the when they first started out. I was reminded of God's love for me and how I've kind of lost my First Love. I remembered his music growing during the "Jesus Movement"(70's). It was nice. I don't know what we're going to do about "church" yet, but I was blessed.
