Welcome to October everybody!

Can you believe it's here already?

Ok, well, this thread is here for us ladies to chat. So chat away...

RepentanceIsRequired -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/2/2008 1:25:11 AM)

Thanks for starting the new thread!!

Well I got my month off to a great start (yeah right). At 12 noon I realized that the kids had an early out at school today (out at 11:40); and since today is Wednesday they were on the bus to my moms. Now this would normally be okay, but we are in full swing of harvest (dad is a corn farmer) and mom and my brother were helping dad. Luckily they saw the bus drive by them and mom was able to go home. Thank goodness my mom is easy going!!

Business is going okay. Not as busy as we'd like, but we are competing with farmers trying to get through harvest. So we have to just go with the flow right now.

Mary is great. She is doing the army crawl (belly crawl) like a champ, and she loves to play. But boy howdy does she have the Dente temper. (thanks daddy [8|])

Oh, we had a "bomb threat" on the school two days ago. I really didn't think it was anything serious so I still sent the kids to school. I NEVER would have thought something like that would surface here. This is a community of only 1000 people. I think it was a kid doing it out of boredom.

cherish405 -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/3/2008 8:40:14 AM)

Wow about the bomb threat! Scary!

Roberta_ -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/3/2008 3:04:55 PM)

Nicole (RiR) - I know that bomb threats can be scary. I'll keep your community in prayer.

VocalCoach -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/3/2008 4:38:59 PM)

With way things are going in this world it's amazing to me that parents won't wake up and realize that they must be proactive in their child's life. Children that have no direction, involvement or interest from their parents have no where else to turn but to the things they see going on daily in the world around them. I remember many times going to parents night at my sons school and in talking to the teachers, so many of them would tell me how they never hear from many of the parents in their class. I can't imagine having a child and not caring about his/her life. It just makes me so sad and scared for the present condition of our world. I pray that this was just a false alarm in your area but I can't help but wonder about the life this child who has caused all this uproar, just what his life must be like??

I completely agree. I grew up in this community and naturally a lot has changed in the last 10-15 years since I lived here last. However, with all the new families it does sadden me that this once strong church led community is not reaching out more to the unchurched. Now granted we just moved here about two years ago, so I may not see everything yet.

ThursdaysChild -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/4/2008 3:44:48 AM)

We used to have bomb threats at the jr. high where I taught in St. Louis. The first one we thought it was just a fire drill so I left my purse in my cabinet in my room. We were stuck out there until almost 5 waiting for the bomb sniffing dogs brought in from the airport were finished. After that we decided to have a code phrase come on the intercom telling teachers what the fire drill was actually for so we could snatch our purses. If I'd had my purse that first day I could have left after the kids did. Instead I had to wait until it was safe to go inside to get it. {sigh}

Tomorrow it's back to school I don't mind so much but hate the fact that I just set my alarm for 5 am again. [:(]

We went to the beach yesterday afternoon. I spent 2 hours in the water and my legs are so sore! But it was fun. I also slipped on some water yesterday at home and fell. I now have a very tender bump on my knee. But it's not as bad as the muscle pain from the water so I guess that's a good thing. LOL

Roberta- I'm so glad you did it and not me! I rember hearing Dan Rather in an interview talking about working at a small Christian radio station when he was younger. He put on an album of a preacher so he'd have time to run to get something to eat (I think). He ran into the the owner of the station who asked if he knew what was playing. He turned on the radio in his car and the record had gotten stuck. It was saying, "go to hell...go to hell...go to hell..."

Have a nice day, ladies.

cherish405 -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/4/2008 7:41:54 AM)

I've never had to deal with a bomb threat, and hopefully never will have to.

fluffmonkey -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/4/2008 10:24:07 AM)

Hey! I hope your all doing well.. It has gotten cooler and fall is definaitly here!

we had 4 bomb threats and one anthrax scare at my old high school :/ all bomb threats where jokes played by ehm immature people... and so was the antrax scare... its sad how people think that is funny.... but that same year as the antrax scare happened at school it happened at my mom's old post office (which is kinda scary) because you never know what people send in the mail...

Thursday the beach sounds nice :)

Roberta, I am sorry things are hard at the moment but I will pray for you and I hope things get brighter :)

Vocal, The wedding plans are coming along lol but God is really helping me out... and I don't feel like I want to pull all my hair out anymore :)

cherish405 -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/4/2008 10:41:08 AM)

Hi everybody.

How's your weekend going so far?

Got a little bit of reading done today, had a nap and got a little bit of the writing done that I wanted to get done.

Harvie -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/5/2008 3:53:34 PM)

Happy October, ladies.

We're supposed to be in the 90s again on Tuesday. When does the cool, fall weather start, anyway??? Despite the weather, I still went ahead and reseeded the lawn with winter rye grass since the Almanac assures me that winter will eventually arrive, lol!

Not much going on around here ... it's pretty quiet with my wonderful DH gone. We're slowly acclimating a really grouchy cat into our household -- so there've been lots of hissing and growls for the past 3-4 days.

cherish405 -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/6/2008 6:28:01 AM)

Still cool here, not that I mind. Not as cold as it was in winter, but I'm not complaining.

Memaw. -> RE: Women's October Chat Thread! (10/6/2008 10:58:09 AM)

Today is a sad day.
My friends' granddaughter (1mo old) passed from SIDS last week and today is the funeral.
Would you all keep them in your prayers and thoughts?
