Several times! I did it with the last two Harry Potter books and the Twilight Series. Needless to say, I was useless those days :)

I haven't been able to do this since my youth because of the neccesities of adult life, but I did it quite often when I was young. I remember reading Jaws and The Godfather each in a day. I think I did so with The Shining.

Many times, although the only specific ones I can remember are the Harry Potter books. #6 and 7 were each read in one day- I think 10-12 hours. DH was NOT happy. I can get through an average novel in 3-5 hours.

Dang, I was gonna say that! Except it took me a week (1 book a day).

What Megan Said- I was pre-reading for the kids consumption. Only my 18yo read the twilight series after I pre read them, the others (16g, 14b, 12b, 11b, and 9b) said No Thanks. These were all easy reads. I have done the whole book in a day thing with several- as someone has already mentioned if it grabs me I can read an inordinate number of pages an hour and still manage to end up the day with all 6 kids fed and clothed- I might not be fed and out of my jammies BUT they will be. I have done each of the Jane Austen novels 1 a day pace too. Yeah, I swing from classics to JKR and tame vampires. Scary huh.

I used to read Dean Koontz books all in one day. There have been others, but they have to be simple reads. I used to read a lot of Stephen King books, but they would usually take 4 or 5 days. It gets kind of dry. It has to be a pretty easy read and string things together rather than dragging them out.

I have in maybe 12 hrs. total in three days, Jack London- Short Stories Collection and Mini Novels.

His imagery of the Yukon Gold Rush and the snow, kept me reading . His mention of the Resurrection and the life, and His love for animals caused me to believe he was (is) christian. I have found myself questioning people who make determinations about the deceased as to whether they were Christian or not, Like Mark Twain or Thomas Jefferson or A. Einstein to be rather rude or annoying. Nevertheless I mentioned what I think about London.

Sometimes I "judge" a book by the words in it I do not know.
Hawthorne's "House of 7 Gables" was a real vocabulary exercise, and it took porbably 36 hrs. in 4 or five days with a dictionary. I thought it a masterpiece and well worth the dictionary work.

Job keeps me interested enough to read in 3 or four 45 minute sittings.

:D

Some of the Harry Potter books. I recall being very grouchy when disturbed while reading.

I've had it happen while reading the bible as well. I'll intend to read a few chapters and find myself covering several books instead. My eyes are heavy and my mind feels light but my spirit is rejoicing. Go figure.

The Gulag Archipelago -- history that is even more vivid and gripping and memorable than the same writer's novels.

Witness, by Whitaker Chambers. Explains clearly why betraying one's country is less offensive than blowing the whistle on a traitor in the American ruling caste. One of the great autobiographies of the bloody 20th century.

Jack London's book Star Rover, with its theme of reincarnation, had a negative influence on my spiritual life 40+ years ago, as I began to spiral into the insane maelstrom of the new age movement. (parenthetically, after his suicide, his widow had an affair with Eric Weiss, a.k.a. Harry Houdini.)

Two good choices. BTW, I have a first edition of Witness that's in great shape. Wonder if I could sell it for decent price? I saw it on sale for $850 on Amazon.

Have you read Cancer Ward?

I skimmed over, really really fast Levi Dowling's "Aquarian Gospel", it is
in e-book form on the net. I didn't really get that good of a feeling from it and I didn't read it that closely.

I know I, I, I! I wouldn't recommend it for It kinda negates Christ's mission to his own people.
