Wow, Narnia. With friends like that, who need enemies?

Yup Cynthia. I'm glad some other people see things the way I do. Otherwise I might think I'm crazy for feeling and thinking about the situation the way I do.

Narnia, While I’ve been preparing a stew for dinner, I’ve been thinking about you, all you are going through and the assembly you are attending. This scripture came to mind and I think it specifically addresses what is going on in the meeting you attend. The main sins that we can see, from your posts, are enmities, strife, jealousy, disputes and probably envying as well. If this is obvious on the surface, it makes me wonder what other things are going on under the surface. Galatians 5:13-26 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” But if you bit and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire again the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. but if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. One can see why the church split, but the other group doesn’t seem any better. They have lied and I think they were slandering people as well. They are not showing the fruit of the Spirit. Do you see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control in these people? From what I know of you here, Narnia, I don't know what you have in common with them other than your Messianic beliefs. How is your husband getting along in this group? Is he as involved as you are? Does he feel welcome and loved or does he feel rejected too? I understand that you have strong Messianic beliefs and I don’t have anything against that at all, but I’m wondering if you feel that other groups are worshipping incorrectly. You could attend a different group and still follow your traditions. There are many churches that also worship on Saturday. Our church has a Saturday service.

That's a good deal, Jennifer. I'll have to be on the lookout for those deals on turkey soon too. I like turkey.

I thought it was a pretty good deal, especially since chicken is nearly twice the price right now. I want to get some stuff in the freezer for when I am working. Assuming I will be working and able to afford to keep the fridge running, lol. The only problem at the moment is both the thawing and the storing in the fridge of such a large bird! Oh, and I made the mistake if calling it a 'him' and now Nate doesn't want to eat the poor guy, lol.

Dh is not as involved, nor does he care about friends, being accepted, etc... He does say that it won't be any different anywhere else. Friends of mine in this general geographic area that know about my issues say they have seen this in every congregation and church they have been in. Perhaps it's something in this area? And they told me that dh is right-it probably won't be any different if we did go somewhere else. If all the places in this area are having the same problems, they're not worshipping correctly. And I know form personal experience besides in speaking with other Messianic believers, that churches in general look down on people celebrating the Feasts. Many folks have been kicked out of the churches for celebrating them and then telling others about them. Yes Cindybode this is a body of believers. Last night at service they were talking about how important it is that we are a family and they hope no one feels that they are unaccepted, etc.. I found that pretty ironic, seeing what I've gone through. But then there are those folks reading this who would say I'm the problem...No pleasing everyone.

I don't know, Narnia. I feel frustrated for you and I'm not even there. Thank you. It helps me to know that I am not overreacting to the situation and that someone else can see how frustrating, discouraging and hard this is. Maybe I should change my name to cactus-since I am in the desert here.

That seems so odd to me, Narnia. I cannot wrap my mind around people having a problem with the feasts. I find them fascinating and think there is a lot to be learned and enjoyed by learning about them. Could you recommend a good book or resource for that? I’m really sorry you are being so mistreated. On a brighter note, it’s probably a good thing you aren’t fitting in with people like that. You aren’t going nuts. What you are describing is intolerable. You are feeling badly because you are being mistreated. If it were me, they probably would have thrown me out by now, because I tend to speak my mind. We all have different gifts and different personalities for God’s work. He will use you through this, as you are surrendered to Him. May He bless you and give you joy through the hardship.

I was going to buy some the other day and it was a little over $9 for just a couple lbs of tenders. I bought the pork that was on sale instead.

Feed prices have gone through the roof. A 50 lb bag of scratch is about $3 more now than it was in June.

It is too bad you live so far south of where I used to live in Ks.....the little church we went too would not hold it against you for following the feasts...in fact they would probably beg you to lead some classes on them so they could better understand them, even if they did not observe them other than the once class/time that you led. They don't worship on the Sabbath, but they were(and still are) a church committed to living in peace with God and with each other. That is not to say they were/are perfect, but they are fully committed to serving the Lord and to doing His will and being willing to admit they are human and ask for forgiveness and try to avoid the workings you have seen within your congregation. In fact, one of the gentlemen that attends there would be very interested...he doesn't use an English bible...he brings his Hebrew text and uses it most of the time...he is one of the Theology professors at Tabor College. But Hillsboro is about 45 to 60 miles to the north of where you live....so I doubt you'd be visiting Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church anytime soon.

I'm guessing the milk relates to the price of feeding the cows (feedcorn? since alot of corn crops turned to bio-fuel production)....I suppose the chicken could be the same reason (chicken get fed corn too right?). Or maybe it's just all the other financial bruhaha that's messing with our costs.

It also has to do with the cost of fuel...shipping the milk to the processing plant, and shipping the chickens to the processing plant and then from there to the stores. So...no...the famers are not getting any of that money...and in reality...neither are the middlemen......some of the stores are though.....

And even if I could visit once or twice, it is too far to have that be a new home anyway. Tomorrow we are going to be a t a church dancing for them since it is "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem Day". There are two other groups there besides us-I wonder if one of the groups is the congregation that formed from the split? anyway the woman that was speaking to us told us there is a small Messianic congregation there. Might pick up some information about that if possible.

Thank you, Narnia. I'll put that on my list of book wants. I hope things go well for you at the church your group is visiting.

I tried to sing in church. I can sing very quietly, about half my normal range...but I get dizzy if I do. I just am not getting enough oxygen. Cindy, should I try my bronchiodilator inhaler that they gave me when I had the flu? I don't sound like Darth Vader like I did then. Anyway, I think that is why my shoulder problems are lasting as long as they are--I am not getting enough oxygen to both run my body and heal (or sing, lol). I can't breathe well enough to go for walks to improve that, either. It is very frustrating. My shoulder keeps me from sleeping well, so I can't heal, and my cold keeps me from healing so I can sleep...argh! On a more positive note, you know the boy in jukido class that Nate butts heads with so much of the time? On Thursday when Sensei asked Nate to pick a kid to be tested with, he picked that boy! Later on he told me that he thinks the other boy has grown up and improved some, and that he actually likes him, and that he likes working with him in class!
