ROFL! That's not true.

I too add cinnamon to mine. Saigon cinnamon-cinnamon that has a bit of spicy kick to it, which I much prefer to our mild cinnamon. We also have some chunks in ours too-not too big and that's more for little one's sake.

I originally wanted to do apple butter first but it is a two day job so I am thinking I might do that this weekend. Once I get more apples, of course.

And I am glad that I wait until tonight/tomorrow before I start going over the dances for service. This week they dropped two and changed one. There are usually some changes every week and I am glad I am not putting effort into songs that end up not being done at service. They have practice Monday night so I don't do anything until I hear if there are changes to the list. I got the changes a couple of hours ago.

We have a LOT of snow and it is still coming! The kids have had so much fun it already. I was going to have a girls night out with my mom, but we are not going out in it tonight.

I am so glad that we got all those pears down from the pear tree. We made mince meat (with no meat) with them and had pie Sunday. YUM!

As much as I like having a snow day, I am glad the snow is not here yet!! We have been trying to stain our deck. The deck has been done, but the lattice is taking forever. We still have one more piece to get cut by the lumber yard and painted. Should be able to get it done this week....as long as there is no snow.

I get a magazine called "Family Fun". In their November issue there is a recipe for pear maple heaven pie -or something like that. It's for a pie with a crumb topping and uses pears and maple syrup. I think I will try that for Thanksgiving this year.

My blessing is having her second bowl of applesauce right now. Glad she likes it.

Tomorrow it will be 68 for our high.

It is slushing here - big, sloppy drops that splat and occasionally clunk on your windshield. Some of them have been white but so far nothing is sticking. That wind coming over the lake is brutal, though.

We have 12 quarts of applesauce and 18 quarts of apple pie filling done so far. We are down to one basket of apples. I just got a new (to me) Excalibur dehydrator off ebay. I ran a load of apples through it today - it does an incredible, FAST job of drying and with 9 trays it holds a lot. It certainly beats my little bottom heat dehydrator. I've wanted an Excalibur for awhile but they are pricey, so when I saw this one on ebay I snapped it up. It was a great deal.

We just unloaded half the trailer in sleet and rain. Fun, fun! But it is so nice to have our stuff here! Yay!! Most of it won't fit in this house, but we are going to try! LOL Actually we already filled a 10X15 storage unit. The rest of this stuff is supposed to fit here. Ummm, yeah... sure!

It is 42* here. No snow or sleet or slush... My mom called and said they'd gotten some snow out her way though.

Well, my turn... my son was up and on the computer in the middle of the night, because he could not sleep. His sis got up to get a drink of water, and saw him on it. She told me this, and I checked the computer history just to make sure we are not being naive... well he was not on any bad sites last night, but he has been looking at stuff that he shouldn't be... He's only 11.
With the history that hubby and I have, this is very difficult for me. But I think we handled it well, with unity. It is tough to not blame myself, as I turned the filter off so daughter could do something on the computer, and hubby tends to blame himself due to his history.
But I know that is the enemy trying to divide us, and we are not going to let that happen. Please cover us and son in your prayers as we deal with this.
I am very pleased with how son handled this, he did not deny it or lie. That is not easy and he handled it with truth.

So sorry Mis.... Glad everything was dealth with in unity and son was good about the confrontation.

How do you look at the computers history? I would like to do this now and then but am not sure how. I don't think I have a filter. Dh tried to put his (K9 protector) on my computer and it wouldn't let it. I do have a password though, and I try and remember to put it to password anytime we are not around. I also give the kids time limits on the computer and they have to tell me when their time is starting.

I let Noah sleep with us last night so that I could get some sleep. He was so wired!! It still took him until almost mid-night to settle down.

Now news on my van... but I don't mind. It is kinda nice knowing we have to stay home

Misaham,

God is faithful!

We will all be tempted, and children do need their parents and siblings to help them overcome temptation. Sounds like your family is working together well to glorify the Lord.

misaham--I'm sorry! It is just so tempting and so easily accessable for them. We have reinstalled passwords, preventing anyone from getting on the computer when they shouldn't. Ds2 is premitted on the basement computer during the day when there are plenty of people going in and out. Evenings/nights, no. And both computers are shut off before I go to bed.

When you are on the internet, you press "control" and "H" and it should pull it up on the left side of the window. You can look at sites visited by date.
Unfortunately, if you have someone who is computer savvy, it does not take much to learn how to delete the history, cookies, temporary files, etc. So it could look clean but not be. But a big "red flag" would be if there was nothing in the history... seems to be that someone might have something to hide.

Thanks, everyone for your supportive words. When Hazel discovered that he son had looked at porn, I thought, "well, we might be facing that temptation soon", I know that he is not "too young" but I really did not expect to discover this so soon.

I had a strange feeling, though, the last time we talked about this. Always before he would look like he was gonna throw up, but this time he almost looked curious... now I know that he had already opened himself up to it.

I did tell him that to me it is the same as drugs... I would never let him smoke a "little" pot or shoot up a "little" heroin. I know first hand how this can destroy lives and families and rob someone of their potential.

Thank you. I dreamt about them all night.
Do you ever pray for people in your dreams? All night long his wife was in my mind and I was praying for her. Makes for a weird sleep.

I don't know about praying in my dreams, but I often wake up in the middle of the night and feel the urge to pray for someone. I'm sure she needed those prayers at the exact moment that you were praying for her.

I didn't sleep well at all last night. The power kept blinking on and off because of all the snow. I have been waking up very sore and with a pain in my chest that wears off during the morning. I have been really dragging. It doesn't help that I had a really hard time remembering to take my meds last week and I am really starting to feel it I guess.

I have been working so hard on things, but i am not sure if I am getting anywhere. I hope so. sorting and organizing, sorting and organizing, sorting and organizing... This is the first month that I am working off a menu. It is going pretty good so far. I am really pleased. I have to get around to making more bread though.

Russ is building a chimney and he is through the fourth flour now... next is through the roof. That makes me really nervous. I can't wait until the chimney and stove are all built though. It should really help with the heating costs.

I think when we are praying for people in our sleep or awakened from sleep to pray for someone that it is very serious and the Lord is using us to fight for His children.
My heart is breaking for this family. It appears that the man who hit Andy may have done so on purpose. It may have been a suicide/murder attempt. I don't know if he's in jail yet or not. It sickens me. I'd like to go hunt him down and throw him in jail.

Wow, that is awful. It is one thing to do something to mess up your own life, or take your own life. That is a tragedy all by itself. But to take someone else with you for no reason... how horrible.
I have been waking up at night, too, and I have been using that time to pray for whoever God lays on my heart. It is a neat thing to spend that time with God when everyone else is asleep.

DD2's Awana leader said something to her tonight that is rather disturbing. I've already emailed the commander (head of the program) about it. None of my kids are good spellers. SHe told DD2 that "Since [she] doesn't go to school I can tease [her] about her spelling" IF nothing else it's inappropriate to tease a clubber about a weakness to say nothing of the contempt it shows towards HSing.

Umm, yup, I think so. Welcome to the North Coast.

Praying for your friends, Cynthia. That's awful.

I am a mean mom again. Erin didn't do dishes yesterday, so she has lost her internet cable for the next 3 days. I heard all about how she didn't even know she was on dishes till 11pm last night. Well a) the dish schedule has been up all month, b) dish duty goes chronologically by age, so if the sibling directly above you did them yesterday, you can pretty much figure you're on them today, c) you're the only person in the house whose name begins with an E, so if there's an E on that chart, you're it, and d) you didn't go to bed till 2am, so even if you made this astounding discovery at 11pm you still had plenty of time to do the dishes. In other words, no sympathy. We decided 3 weeks ago that every time she didn't do dishes we'd pull her internet cable, and we'd add a day each time. She's up to 3 days this time. She is fairly certain she will not survive.
