cynthia,

I would guess no real razor, or it's a fairly safe bet there would've been blood.

And Mr Manly is how old?!?!?

Mr.Manly is 9yo. I still haven't checked into whether he was actually using a razor what he was doing. I have a feeling he just likes playing with shaving cream.

EWWW. I think shaving cream is one of the smelliest most disgusting things out there. I always hated it when my kids had shaving cream day at pre-school because I hated how they stunk afterwards.

I spoke to Mr. Manly again. He used his toothbrush rather than a razor. That boy. At least he didn't use MY toothbrush.

Yeah, that's what I told him and he said, "What?! Why?! I washed it off!"

What a nice thing to say, Cindy. Thank you. I think I will have to keep that in my mental file as a reminder/encouragement for me.

I'm sorry your finger is still so bad.

Cynthia,

The whole shaving cream and toothbrush gave me a much needed chuckle. I was listening to a short radio bit about Teddy Roosevelt in the White House and his son's escapades. His son buttered all the bannisters before the French delegate visit and ruined all their gloves, put a pony in the elevator, and so much more.

I miss Jen too.

ATTENTION: MODERATOR'S NOTE: ATTENTION

Ladies,
I understand that you love Jennifer. I love her too. She has suddenly disappeared and has posted something about it in her blog.

We are not allowed to discuss whether or not a person is banned or if someone is known to have been banned we are not allowed to discuss the particulars. There are good reasons why we cannot discuss administrative issues on forums. Keep in mind that this bites both ways as it also makes it impossible to defend ourselves.

I wish I could explain this further, but there are actually good reasons why we are not allowed to. There are certain policies and technical issues going on behind the scenes that we cannot discuss due to security reasons.

What I ask is that you think and pray about this. Do not assume that any one person has the whole picture or that those who do would be able to explain it. Continue to pray for Jennifer. Please pray for the moderating team and the staff as well. We do the best we can and seriously do not try to play favorites. I cannot imagine that anyone would actually think that we don’t like Jennifer!

We are also not allowed to give out third party information on forums, so no one can give out Jennifer’s e-mail address. That is one of those security issues and is in the tos.

We have a beautiful fall day here today. Bright and sunny. The leaves are just starting to change. It's in the 70's, so a bit cooler yet not actually cold yet. It was in the 40's when I went for my run this morning. I was actually over dressed in shorts and long sleeves!

School is happening today. Ds1 and ds2 are working on their own in science and history. They have to hand in chapter tests on Friday. This morning I reminded them that today was Friday and it's week 9. I better see chapter 9 tests today. Instead of their usual playing on the computer first thing in the morning, both headed up to their rooms to get caught up! Rule is they have to be caught up or we take the air soft guns away. And seeing that their buddies ahve a "war" set up for this afternoon...

Still struggling with ds4 though... That stinker is worse than a cockroach when you turn on the light. One minute he's sitting there working. THe next, he's slipped out fo the room. We're still finishing up 3rd grade work. And today is the last day of the first 9 week period!

Ds3 has his assignments. I know he'll get them done. Eventually...

After the shaving cream incident yesterday, I was thinking that Mr. Manly's toothbrush would taste pretty gross. In the evening after he brushed his teeth, his breath smelled really weird. I made him go brush them again. I thought it must have something to do with the shaving cream. Well this morning, I checked the toothpast and found that his toothpast has a horrid smell. It's vanilla mint and is going in the trash this morning.

some flavors just aren't meant to be in a toothpaste

Can toothpaste go bad?

Don't know if anyone else is doing Teaching Textbooks precalculus, but it is HARD! I may start a separate thread on it. It only has 95 lessons, but they are each taking Joe 2 days and there are 14 chapter tests. It's good stuff, in fact, I think he'll be pretty close to ready for a math CLEP test when he's done, but it may take more than a year to slog through it. I wish the author had the complete cd set available. This is definitely a course that could use some extra instruction. So far they have explanation cds for some of the practice problems and lesson problems, but not the lessons themselves or the tests. PS has today off and I told Joe that he could have everything but math off if he was caught up. I'm glad math was the only thing we did today because it made my head spin.

Vanilla mint!? That's just wrong. At my running site there are several puking smaces that would apply!

Ds3 is starting a new science book. We're not doing the interest lead thing well this year so I decided we needed some structure. The publisher has an interactive game site and I wanted to check it out before sending ds3 there. The first game was identifying cell structures. Uh oh... I haven't done cell structures since high school. I mean, I've graded the kids work and all, but that was a matter of using the answer key. I was shocked that I was able to identify all structures correctly!

I've had the vanilla mint before and liked it. It tasted a little like the buttercream mints. I'm thinking something else must be going on with the toothpaste.

I just went to the Teaching Textbooks site and they're now saying the instruction cd's won't be ready until fall of '09 ! The rest of the explanation cds are still due to be available this fall. They sent us the first 5 already so we're good to go for everything except tests for now. I guess we'll just keep muddling through.

There are some pretty strange gum flavors out there too - like mixing berry and mint! Gross! I don't like mint that much, and don't want it mixed with raspberry or watermelon!

I like vanilla mint toothpaste. However, I also like liver & onions and brussel sprouts, so maybe I'm just weird.

We are going to Buffalo tomorrow to spend the day with my cousins. I haven't seen them in about 19 years, so I am looking forward to it. My children have never met them. We got back in touch when my aunt passed away and decided 19 years between get togethers was a bit too long, especially since we don't live that far from each other. My aunt and uncle were never good about keeping in touch - after my family moved to OH we only saw them if we went there, and after awhile I think my mom got a little tired of that, so our families drifted apart. It will be nice to see them again.

My best friend from AZ is moving to OH in a couple weeks. I'm so excited, it will be alot easier to visit her now.

We are going to go for a drive this weekend to look for fall colors.

Cindy--we HAVE to get together! I LOVE liver&onions and brussel sprouts! How 'bout some spinnach with that? (PSA--do not attempt to "warm up" brussel sprouts in the microwave. They will explode. So better eat 'em while they're hot!)

Mind you, I think Cindy and I are the closest, only about 3hrs apart. We've only met twice--once when she was here for the HS conference and once at Ellie-Mae's.

My kids are educationally deprived. Ds4 had a "fill in the blank" assignment about The Wizard of Oz. Uh, he's never seen it. I remember as a kid watching it every year. He did finish the assignment. It was, uh, rather unique...
