Good Monday Morning Everyone Thank you for starting us out this week Dee Leah, how is your ankle today? Momma-mo, hope everyone is feeling better this week. You go in today with your daughter right? Bear bait huh? LOL Maggie, hope your week-end with your son went well. Ginny, My son, Cody, is doing well playing football. Altho he was really upset with the Friday nights game. They lost big time. All in all it was a bad game. The other team was playing pretty rough. Cody got hit in the upper chest by the other player. Knocked the wind out of him. Guess that type pf play is'ent allowed...but the ref did'ent see it. The ref did'ent "see" alot of things the other team was doing. I don't like games like that. Guess our guys were angry with their coach. He was calling plays during the second half that were bound to throw the game..which it did. Cody was so upset on the drive home..I think he was crying. I just kept telling him it was just a game, and their coach had their best intrest at heart. As for the unfair plays with the other team, it will catch up with them. Had a busy week-end.. Looked at wedding dresses all day Sat. Katie could wear any dress and look beautiful in it. But at the first Bridal store she tryed on about six of them. Then she walked out with the next dress on, and we all loved it!! That was her!! This was the ONE!!The price tag said $399. But that was the dress she had one. If she would order it, it would cost $745. So we started looking close at this floor model dress, she had on. We noticed a tear on the bottom side, and a few other flaws. But nothing that could'ent be fixed. It was sooo pretty on her. So we ended up telling them we would let them know. She had another appt. at another Bridal shop. She must have spent an hour and a half at this second store..and tryed on about a dozen dresses. I'm not saying she was'ent pretty in all of them. I'm just saying we kept comeing back to this other dress. It was the ONE. So I think she will go back and get it. Guess she already called them even. I would try to describe it, but would'ent do justice to it. Lets just say it reminds me of a old time wedding dress, with lots of lace overlapping the dress. It was just her. We also got to enjoy lunch together. Me and my two daughters. That was fun. After my Friday..I needed that. Long story short about my Friday.. My daughter-in-law used me BIG time again. I was suppose to babysit the grandsons for 8 hours, and it turned out to be a 11 hour day. Sarah decided to spend the whole day by her girlfriends. They went shopping and everything with her girlfriends two kids. The reason they needed me was because Sarah worked overnight and needed to sleep that morning. But she did'ent sleep all day...she played. By the time she finally got here she was to ashamed of herself to get out of the car. Her girlfriend got out to get the boys. I carried Brett to the car..made sure the grandsons were buckeled up, looked at her and said "From now on I will only take the boys from 2:30PM until Tommy picks them up" I walked away shakeing cause I was so mad. I wanted to just let her have it..but I could'ent do that in front of them babies. Guess she has two more sceduled overnight shifts. But that's her problem. I will not babysit them anymore during the day so she can "sleep" Oh..I dislike being used On Sunday I got to can pickles. Got twelve qts. of whole dill and fifteen pints of sliced sweet/sour done. Also spent an hour with my neice showing her how to make a batch of applesauce. And got to see another neice, when she came over to pick up a fridge I was giveing her. Worked in my garden putting up fall decorations, and went to visit my two granddaughters. It was a very full..fun day

Good morning everyone! Today is a beautiful day in New England. How is everyone? First, let me thank you all for your prayers! They are greatly appreciated! Today Emily and I go to the pulminologist. She had a miserable weekend. I'd be surprised if she didn't have pneumonia. After her I have to concentrate on my middle child who has been such a help to me through this. She sounds bad too. She and I did go to church for the first time in a month yesterday. We had a special guest give the sermon at our little Baptist church. MIKE HUCKABEE was our pastor yesterday! How our teeny church did that I'm not so sure...but....WOW! He's a great preacher! He's funny and genuine, and he made a clear and strong salvation message at the end so there would be no doubt that it's all about Jesus! When he spoke to each person individually he took my hand and did not withdraw (like, okay, I've shaken your hand..so let me go.), he hung on, looked me straight in the eye and let me talk. He heard every word and was sincerely interested! I congratulated him and told him how much I enjoyed his new talk show on Fox and the band that they formed from the Fox News crew. My daughter gave him a big bag of chocolate chip cookies she had made. He gave her a big hug! She wants so much to be a chef/baker. This meant so much to her. He had just told a story about his son putting a whole cup of salt in a cake, so he joked and asked her how much salt she put in it! She really needs things like this because she is the middle child and gets lost in the shuffle. Anyway, Mr. Huckabee also played his bass guitar with our praise band for one of the songs. The press was there and church was almost full. (Lately we've only had about 30 to 45 people at our services.) Our pastor would not allow the press to photograph anyone until afterwards. I do hope that some of the people who came just to look will feel drawn by the Lord to come back. I have to say....as a preacher...this guy is anointed. I knew he was a Baptist pastor...but I'd never heard him preach. After church we went to my old gift shoppe. I had heard that the owner was thinking of retiring soon, and I had thought I had a couple of years to make up my mind. Well, she was thinking of selling it as early as this Christmas! We are both going to try to come up with something to help each other. I've offered to run the store part time for her so she can have more time off, and I would be able to put some of my products in there. This way she would not have to leave so abruptly, because she really doesn't want to leave so quickly. She is alone and it is getting hard on her. Anyway, we are praying for favor from God. Good news was that the price of the store was about 2/3rds less than I had expected and the rent is about half of what I expected. (It's still the same landlord I had.) Please pray for us! It's a big step! But, it's the ultimate homeschooling lesson for my kids. All three are interested in business and selling things. And I just happen to be teaching the two teens business math this year! Anyway, wedding gown shopping...that can wear anyone out. And I'm so sorry you are being taken advantage of. I hope everyone got to church. (After a month, what a blessing to finally go again!) I'll check back later. Gotta get Em up and get her to the doc. Have a good day everyone!

I hope you can get what you need from the doc, Momma-mo. And I hope you can work the store thing out. Sound exciting for you! Barb, I'm sorry that Friday didn't go well. The shopping sounds fun! Heading out to library story time in a bit. Dee

The weekend was a nightmare but I survived and ds3 is still alive and in one piece--back at the hospital. Barb, I'm glad your daughter found such a lovely gown at such a good price. Wow! Momma Mo, too cool about Mike Huckabee visiting your church yesterday! Dee, that's a good verse. "The earth is the Lord's." Something we forget too easily. Linda, how's your ankle?

Momma Mo, I just read what you posted in the complaint department. Your husband wants to divorce? You've got that to deal with on top of all the illness in the house and the uncertainty of where your business will be located? OUCH!

Wow -- what a way to start a week, you guys! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{EVERYBODY}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Ok, Momma-Mo, it's good to hear you all are slowly getting better, but now a divorce??? Will be praying your hubby wakes up & smells the roses -- and that this does NOT happen . . . . . Mike Huckabee -- that's just too cool!! Barb, the wedding dress sounds really pretty -- hope you can post pics soon. And shame on you dil! Maybe your son needs to straighten her out . . yeah, I know that's pretty difficult to do. Maggie, so glad you guys made it thru the weekend . . and I'm sorry about it being so tough. Ginny . .. well, just {{{{{{{{{{{GINNY}}}}}}}}}}}} Dee, I also was doing a double take on those signs killing you As for my ankle . . it's all better! As of 1:00 this morning, I no longer have any tenderness or pain. I did keep my appointment, but I didn't need the ultrasound. The chiropractor pulled & twisted every which way on it, and it seems everytrhing is back in place. Oh yeah . . seems it was not a sprain afterall (my self-diagnosis as of Saturday), but he said very likely a small bone out of place. After the dr visit today, I went to Walmart supercenter, then grocery shopping. I'm home now, still pain free, and doing fine. BTW, I visited the complaint thread also . . . I'm so grateful that my foot is okay tho, and that the whole thing only cost me $70 versus the multiple hundreds an emergency room would have cost me, that I really couldn't find anything to complain about (except maybe I ate too many chicken livers while at the grocery store, and am now miserable) . . .give me a few days, and I'm sure I'll come up with something. BTW #2 . . my hubby was super over the weekend, waiting on me hand and foot, fixing all my meals AND bringing them to me, not letting me even fix my own water if he was around! -- gosh, I think he would have gone to the bathroom for me if he could have!! I think he deserves a special something or other . . . what a dear! . . . so tomorrow I shall concentrate on fixing him something special

I'm sorry it was a rough weekend Maggie. I'm glad your ankle is better Leah! Momma-mo, praying about your marriage. Oops, I didn't mean to be cryptic about the signs in the other thread. Garage sale signs that is. Kids getting home any minute. Dee

Leah, Oh, I'm so glad your ankle is better Thanks for the hug...but I must say I feel so much better after makeing that statement to her. Now I no longer have to put up with her lying/useing to me, during the day. It was like a weight lifted off me by the time I went into the house. I feel progress was done anyways. I talked to my other DIL,(who went to school with Sarah, and has known her longer than all of us) and oldest daughter about it. I think a girl family meeting is in order. We have to set Sarah straight. We all miss the old Sarah. She was so kind when she came into the family, 9 yrs. ago. We all worry about her takeing to many depression pills. Mabey we can get her to see this..in a loveing, kind way. We ALL want to help her, we just don't want to be taken advantage of anymore. Talking to Tommy is like talking to my husband...in one ear and out the other. Sometimes they don't even hear what we are saying.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone It's a rather crisp morning around here, with the temps, standing around 49 degree's. Fall is really here. I decorated my liveingroom windows in fall leaves yesterday. Now it looks the season in my house and garden. Managed to get alot done yesterday around the house. All that "little stuff" that wanted my attention anyways. Now that I am done processing foods, I have time for the household stuff again. Our baseball team, from the area, is doing really well. If I follow it right, the "Brewers" are going into the play-offs. First time in 26 years! They are playing in Philadelphia tonight? Talk about "brewers fever" It's almost the only thing on the news. All other news took second to that. The bail out for the bank, and the stock market drop, were not as talked about as much as the baseball team. LOL Even the "Packers" football loss was'ent talked about as much. Speaking about football, Cody played a JV game last night. It was an away game, so I did'ent get to watch it. But they won, and feel real good about it. We had to pick him up around 10:30PM. That sure was a long day for him. Poor kid was doing his homework at 11PM yet.

Good morning, Barb . . . sounds like we're having the same kind of weather! It's all of 54 degrees now, and a bit chilly in here, so I just turned the space heater on. I'd already put a sweatshirt on Garrett cuz his arms were cold, but then I decided it was simply too cold in here anyway . . . . yep, fall has definitely arrived. I got my decorations out last week, and some of them in place already. Others need a bit of straightening up, but I'll get there. My one day at home last week was spent taking care of my injured ankle. I managed to get one outfit done in my sewing room, and that was it. Now I need to try to get back in there. Yes, I'm so thankful my ankle healed so quickly. Yesterday I was on it a good part of the day, and it did just fine all day, and still is doing great. After the boys got home yesterday, the two neighbor kids came down, so they all sat at the kitchen table & had milk & cookies, then we went out to play. The boys wanted to play with the football, so I mostly just chased Garrett to try to keep him out of their way. Then we picked up walnuts for a bit. Garrett chased the ball, the two dogs (the neighbor's and mine), then chased me around when I tried to water the flowers with the hose. He was trying his best to get under the hose. He finally discovered that I was leaving mud puddles in my wake, so he sat down in one of those & splashed for a bit He thinks it's funny to run off from me now . . of course, he can't really run, but he can move pretty fast, so I know better than to let him get too far away. But he gets so tickled when I have to chase him down . . . ornery little stinker! Anyway, after my 9 y/o charge left, the rest of us wandered to the front yard to finish watering the flowers, and the neighbor boys started tearing apart an old, rotted tree stump. It's been needing to be pulled out for a long time, but Bill nor I wanted to tackle it. Well, tackle it they did!! Those to skinny little runts had that thing tore apart in no time at all, and a big mess on my lawn . . . so I retrieved the lawn tractor and trailer from the shed so they could pick up their mess . . . . they were more interested in getting the last tall piece of tree trunk down, but try as we might, even with a rope & the tractor, we couldn't get it. It was really looking like rain, tho, so I told them to hurry & get as much of is as possible into the trailer so as not to leave the yard in too big of a mess for Bill. While we were busy with the tree, Garrett was busy checking out the lawn tractor, climbing on & off of it, which he thought was pretty cool, so he'd cheer himself on with each accomplishment . . . he's such a BOY! Finally, the rains came, the neighbor boys headed for home & we came inside, which Garrett didn't like at all! So I had to fuss with him to get him to let me change his wet shorts (where he'd been sitting in the puddle), and get him ready to greet his daddy, who came before we were quite finished. I told him Garrett had had a great time chasing kids & balls & dogs & water hoses, and playing in mud puddles and on the tractor . . . I think he is really pleased when Garrett has such a good time here -- last night he wasn't sure he wanted to go home! Really, even tho the older boys don't pay a whole lot of attention to him yet, I think it is good for him to be with them. Eventually, they will get used to him and include him more, I'm sure. Right now, I think they are not quite sure how to 'play' with him. This afterschool babysitting is working out well. I only really have the one, but the neighbor kids seem to have adopted me, so it's like I have 3 plus Garrett. Oh! . . when Bill came home, he takes one look at the tree stump mess & the lawn tractor sitting in the front yard and says, "Tell me you didn't drive that tractor!" . . . . . well, one of the kids sure didn't drive it! -- of course I drove it . . . Oh! My foot is fine! Good grief, I chased Garrett all around the yard for a good hour before I got on the tractor, not to mention the shopping I did! . . . . he teasingly accused me of just wanting to be waited on all weekend . . he actually did an excellent job of that, as I said yesterday. And I'm planning a good dinner for him tonight to thank him for that

I bought some cube steaks yesterday, Barb, so I'll simmer them in some brown gravy, then make mashed potatoes & green beans. I think I'll also bake a lemon cake for him. He loves lemon cake, especially the way I've been making it. Lasagna & pistacchio pie sound delicious! He doesn't like either of those, tho, so guess I better stick with my plans . . but hey! can I come to your house for supper???

Good Wen. Morning Everyone Another cool, fall like, morning in my parts. Temps. are at 43 degrees right now. Guess we will get into the 60's sometime today. Had hubby start the fireplace before he left for work. It's 66 degrees inside. A tad chilly for me. I managed to get in my flower/vegtable garden yesterday afternoon. Got all the weeding done again. Gee, it sure looks nice over there. I love that garden It's away from the house, and so peaceful to work in it. Still have big green tomatoes on two plants, so I will leave them and see what happens. My cuccumbers (sp?) plants are all done, so I pulled them out finally. I also was able to balance the checkbook, and pay some small bills. My afternoon was pretty productive. But the best part of my afternoon was haveing that talk with my one DIL. She called me from her moms house. (Her and the grandsons are on vaccation by her moms till today) We had a 72 minute talk. I think I got my point across...and she admitted she was useing me. Never said she was sorry...but I was'ent looking for that. Guess the boys and motherhood are rather overwelming to her. I told her Welcome to motherhood!! We all had to do it, and did'ent use our mother-in-laws or mothers the way she trys to. She asked my for suggestions to this problem. I suggested finding a parent support group for her to attend. Also suggested her looking into sending Ethan to a two day pre-school. Also suggested she and Tommy should fine one day out of the month for a "date night" She should look into finding a teenage girl in her area for them "date nights" (Notice how I did'ent suggest myself to babysit?) She needs to find herself again..it got lost when she had the boys. I told her we all miss the old Sarah around here. How much she means to our family. I tryed to make her feel good about herself again. I hope I did it right. I was very kind and loveing and I did mean what I said. I sure hope it helps her. Motherhood is very hard, and she is'ent the only one going through it. I sure hope she takes some of my suggestions and meets some new mommies in her area. She mentioned bringing Ethan to a story time at the library where she lives. I highly recomended that. She might just meet some mommies there. She told me she does'ent trust anyone watching the boys except me. I tryed to tell her that there are very nice teenagers around her area, and she needs to stop just trusting me. Ethan is old enough to let her know if the babysitter is'ent the right one. What if I was'ent around tomorrow?? She would have to find someone else sooner or later. (not that I'm planning to die tomorrow) I feel sooo good we were finally able to have that talk. Told you all it was comeing...just had to be in the right frame of mind before I did it. Could'ent be angry or anything. GOD IS GREAT

Good morning! Looks like folks are doing better! I'm still icky, but, I'm more active! Getting anxious about whether I'm getting the store or not. It seems weird that it would come when the economy is so stressed out, but I feel God is reminding me that what is going on could actually benefit me as long as I let HIM come up with the deal. Thankfully, I'm dealing with another Christian who just wants to retire....The kids are really excited and want to have their own store. Emily is the only one that would go on payroll though. I can school them in the morning hours right there because that is a slow time. Emily and sister are more independant with their studies. I'd be concentrating on my son a lot. Wow! The ultimate homeschool lesson.....running a business together! My e-bay store is picking up a bit and I got it up to 150 items yesterday! My goal is between 200 and 300 items, but, man....I need to get some stuff. I'm a bargain hunter....looking for closeouts, wholesalers, and all sorts of things. I was watching HSN(home shopping network) yesterday and they were demonstrating the cookware that I have....so next thing I know I'm out in the kitchen...using my cookware. These are all signs that I'm getting healthier.....my daughter didn't have to make supper last night, and the other one didn't have to do dishes. Mom's coming back! Did I ever tell you guys about the rooster? Some neighbors on a road behind us got chickens at the beginning of the year and a couple of months ago they wandered into my brother's yard. Something began picking them off one by one and we ended up with a very lonely rooster. Whoever owned them doesn't miss them and doesn't even try to find out if they are alive. Anyway, the rooster now roosts in a hemlock tree in our yard but on the neighbors line. He follows my neighbor around like a puppy dog and when my kids go out he runs to them, waiting for the feed. We have named him Benjamin and are worried what will become of him. It used to be that my hubby would have agreed to a coop and fence and some lady chickens....but in his fallen state he's negative and tells us not to get involved. (I miss the guy who rescued a duckling at the pet store the day before Easter, and we decided to buy her other baby ducks and we built a beautiful pen and house for them and we had the most wonderful duck eggs for several years and raised a couple of generations of ducks together.....that was the man I married...he would not let Benjamin perish in the cold this winter! Anyways, the kids and I really have wanted chickens (and more ducks) for a very long time and this is a golden opportunity.....I really need my Christian husband back..this athiest guy I'm married to is too touchy and negative. (Oh, but he claims he's better off now that he knows the "truth"....) It's rainy and dark here, but, the rain is good, so I don't mind too much. I need to get out to the garden and plant a big bed of garlic for next spring. That should be simple enough....(but, it will turn into a major production probabley!). We also have some fruit trees to plant. Hope you all have a fabulous day! God Bless!

That's really disappointing, Barb. But don't give up. Keep praying. God can change what we cannot.

Good morning, Barb, Maggie & Momma-Mo . . . it's pretty cool here today again, Barb. I DO love fall, tho. Barb, I think you made a big step and more progress than you're giving yourself credit for . . . in spite of what she told her sil, she will think about what you said, and likely, eventually take action on some of the things you suggested. But, even if she doesn't, you have said your piece and she knows where you stand. Nothing she says to anyone can take that away, even if she tries to ignore it and make is something it wasn't. Give her time, tho, I think she will come around. You let her know you miss what she used to be -- that had to strike a chord somewhere in her. I think I'll make my husband some hot dog & potato chowder . . he's been wanting that for a while, and it will keep fine for him, so I can do it early before Garrett & I leave for church to a pizza party we're having there. Momma-Mo, I hope you get the store, and also pray that your husband will come to his senses. Maggie, are you having a good prayer time? I pray your doctor's visit is helpful today. I'm off to fix us some lunch . . . think I will let Garrett share my tamales today -- just spicy enough that he might like them. He's home cuz the school thought he had a touch of diarrhea yesterday . . he may have, but it was nothing unusual for him. The doctor told them his stomach may always react in that way because of the colostomy.

I'm sorry things weren't as you thought Barb. It does sound like you said the right things. I went to help watch kids for MOPS at our church this morning. Speaking of MOPS, Barb, your DIL might like it. Here's a link to see if there is a group in your area. You drop off the kids, and the moms go hear a speaker, discuss, and do a craft. My oldest made Huntington chicken for supper last night, and we have leftovers for tonight. Yay! I had my follow-up mammogram this morning, and the unofficial word is that a biopsy is being recommended. My doctor hasn't called me yet. Dee

I'm considering just plain old baked chicken tonight. It always goes over well with everyone....can't go wrong. I'll do some red potatoes, sweet potatoes, and peas and carrots too. Maybe I'll throw in some acorn squash. Tomorrow is payday. My hubby is paid every other Thursday. This time I ran out of a lot of things, but, I never ran out entirely...so, praise God for that! I'm going to super stock up this week. I'm so sorry about your DIL. What is it that makes folks go from nice to not so nice, and they don't see the difference? It's a spiritual blindness I suppose. My husband is really turning everything upside down here.
