ekserekseez -> Question about "restorative justice" (9/27/2008 1:10:01 PM)

A friend of mine introduced me to a friend of hers, and she started telling me about this thing called "restorative justice." Apparently some church sponsors it or something. Anyway, the woman trying to explain it to me made it sound like some sort of halfway house to rehabilitate criminals, only for violent offenders instead of addicts. She also said that part of it involves criminals and victim debates.

This woman was not the world's best communicator, and I didn't really get her explanation. Does anyone here know where to get information about "restorative justice?"

Thanks, I'll read about it. To tell the truth, what this person was trying to explain to me sounded crazy, so I thought I'd see if anyone knew of a good source.

I've read some of the links on this site and have some questions about this. Does anyone here have any first hand experience with this "restorative justice" and is willing to discuss it?

Thanks!

I know three individuals who are currently working in this field. However I cannot respond to its basis or whether I would support it. Many times these are worldly answers to spiritual problems and fall far short of the true need. But does that make them pointless or bad? I cannot say.
