ORIGINAL: Consecrated2God We were both partly right. According to one of the stories, it was a German immigrant who ran a restaurant in New York that had Jewish ties. The other main story was that it originated in Nebraska. And a 2nd is likened unto it: the Manhattan. I am not really sure what the difference is between a Ruben and the Manhattan. Neither would be kosher because you cannot mix meat (corned beef) and milk (swiss cheese).

Yeah, I know, which seems really strange to me that a Jewish sort of person would invent one. I dunno!

ORIGINAL: Covaan_Meshuga Here's something I don't know and can't seem to find information about. When I was a teen, I read a novel in which the peasants were mutilated in order to give them the look of having a perpetual smile. This novel was purported to be based upon history. Did someone really do this kind of mutilation? Can you find this in the Internet and show me? I actually read it just a few years back it was part of my English class, when I was getting ready to pass TOEFL, engl as a second language test for college It is based on historical facts in France when poor orphans were mutilated on purpose and sold for circus, and even poor peasants wold sell their children for that. Plot:A gothic fantasy about a man whose face has been torturously carved into a permanent grin, and his journey from circus freak to aristocrat, and back again. Book is called The Laughing Man by Victor Hugo. Orig written in french. An Excellent piece. (generally dont lounge, but saw this thread and wanted a one evening break from the theol folder zoo i usually live in ) blessings, O Wow! Thank you! I don't even remember the title! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You are welcome dear Abiya, glad i happen to remember it. Interesting look into eternal issues of how endlessly evil people are, how deceiving is the power of beauty and money and how priceless true friendship is. Good book. quote:

What would you like invented, m'am? I am, for example, terminally Jewish, as bad as it gets, so i can invent anything. 100% Kosher pig if needed - and if the tuition goes up one more time, I might just as well do it.

One time I googled the top 100 ways to kill yourself! Just once, idiots on there thinking that if you should want to kill yourself, you should make it as interesting as possible. Sickos.

I've found out that some people on the internet have sick twisted humor about Jesus. Through the image search that is... One of the pictures is the figure of Jesus seen in a dog's butt! HOW CRUDE!! I've also meant to find pictures of Jesus smiling. I haven't found a normal one that I like yet.

Oh oh, I've done countless searches for baby names these last few months seeings as my friend's baby was going to come into the world, and has come into the world now... I was disappointed to learn that Jael means lousy mountain goat because that is what I wanted to name my first Daughter. Except to make it Jayelle, looks more feminine. I just love the story in the Bible.

I've googled searches on snakes because one of the bloody suckers came onto our front porch. Crept up like Satan on our porch. It turns out that it was a harmless, black racer! yo And you should have seen what we did to avoid that snake and get to a neighbors for help! Talk about escaping through the garage and searching for the nearest man-looking person!

I've done google searches for specific types of crib bedding. Lambs to be specific. Hours and hours trying to find Lamb bedding, but we found it. Yay. And through google we found everything else as well. I must have spent days on google looking for baby stuff of all sorts... Oh once we looked for a onesie for the baby that says, "Jesus is my homeboy." But I didn't like that and so I convinced my friend to go with, "Pastor Watford is my homeboy."

Speaking of Pastor Watford. I've done google searches on him. You probably shouldn't tell him about them though. He might think that is creepy. I just wanted to know more about him is all! I love my Pastor to pieces!

And of course, I'm sure most of us have done searches for scripture. Good ol' Biblegateway. And then there is bluebook I think? Where it shows you the scriptures in Hebrew-Greek. Like an on-line concordance. I like it as a resource!

What else? Oh shhh. I was naughty when I was in highschool and I couldn't find enough time, or didn't take enough time to write my french essays... I would google for good translation sites and then I would translate and switch some of it to make sure that my teacher didn't know any different. She never caught me, unless she uses this site. Then she caught me now! Feels good to confess that one anyways!

I've used google for looking for books that I didn't know where to find. Or looking for them for cheaper than what I found them some where else. Mostly Bibles is what I would look for. And not even for me, but for my best friend. She has like every version of the Bible, no kidding. She has like a Bible fetish or something. I couldn't think of the right word...

I've had times in my life where I would want to cut myself...and so I would google the easiest methods to cut yourself... What objects to use and where to do so.. You know? I learned that dull razors and pepsi cans don't do too much justice!

Just the other day I found out someone close to me might have TB and so I googled all the facts on TB. Google, however, didn't ease my mind and so I talked to our nurse at the church about it. And she totally eased my mind. THANK YOU JANIE! Whoop Whoop!

I've used google to find some of the ingenious avatars I used on here. I think I really like the avatar I am using now though. However, I might google later how to use an avatar that moves. I want mine to move, but I can not figure out to get it to work! blah...

Hmmm? I've used google when I first meant Abiyah. I wanted to know more about Messianic Jews. And also I wanted to study some of the language. Which I am really far behind on doing. :( Sorry Abiyah!

I've used google to find recipes that I might want to cook or to bake. Although, I've found out that I'm a much better cook then a baker. All my baked food turns out awful. Perhaps I should google a way to make sure the baked food is actually done or too done. It never seems to be just perfect. I don't always fail at it, but most times...

Ohhh I remember! Just one moment ago I googled feminism quotes because I wanted one for my signature. Not because I am a feminist, just because I was upset... Not a VERY good reason, huh? And now I have to find a better one!

When I was in school I used to google to find websites that would help me with homework that I just didn't understand and that my parents couldn't show me how to do. Mostly History and English questions. Some French questions too I guess...
