Wow. I've never heard of the peace symbol meaning anything other than being a symbol of peace. I suppose anyone could claim anything means something really bad.

I could be (a) completely and utterly ignorant to what others think I "should be" thinking ... and it is not uncommon for something to change meaning from one era to another (what do you think when you hear the word "thong"? LOL), or (b) I haven't read any more into it other than what I have always understood it to mean - which is peace (from the 60's and 70's hippy days).

I didn't know what the origin was, so I looked it up. It's actually a very recent invention (1958), and has its origin in the semaphone signals for "N" and "D", standing for "nuclear disarmament". It has since expanded in meaning to encompass a number of peace related issues, and for others it's just a retro 60's era decoration.

As a child of the 60s, that's what I always understood it to be. I heard a few preachers that also said Rock music was straight from Satan claim it was something else, but I didn't believe them on either count.

If I wear a peace sign...it means just that...Peace

Back in my day, there were people screaming it was a crow's foot and associated it with the Omen movies...or that it was an upside down cross...or whatever other conspiracy idea they could think of...to include Nero's cross and Satanic ritual. Course this is the same crowd who swears that when playing some rock music backward you're hearing part of some cultic ritual.

It's just a "peace" symbol and it's been a part of fashion, etc. since the 60's.

I agree with doinkdom.

If I spent time worrying about everything SOME Christains associate with demonic, pagan whatever ...I wouldn't even have a Christmas Tree.

Now lets see if I have this straight:

Peace symbol = Bad.

Preemptive War = Good.

Does it ever occur to anyone out here that this is just a BIT topsy-turvy?

Ummm... No.

Why? Your assumption that a person who believes one must therefore believe the other is wrong. There is no connection between the two statements.

1+1=2

A dog is a canine.

Therefore, it will be sunny today, right?

No. You must first establish a logical relationship.
