quote:

There is no such thing as "good" people.

Then God wouldn't have told us to be good if He didn't think we could do it.

He also told us to be perfect but we aren't. He commanded us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind... we fall short.

Jesus is the only one who lived up to these commands. Not us. We are not good, never have been and won't be, in this life. We will be once we have finished this life and know as we are known. Until then we deceive ourselves and we don't even know our own heart... but God is merciful and treats us good, though we are not.

We are to live in the Spirit and when we do we walk in obedience and our works are good. Our good works are not in obedience ot the law but are works of faith, for the just shall live by faith. Still, we are not good but rather, when we walk in the Spirit our works are good, for they are His works, done by us in obedience. It does not make us good.

In this life we are totally dependant on Christ's righteousness, not ours. If you think that you are righteous... I don't know what to say. If you think that some of your works, even most of your works are righteous I can accept that. That is very possible through walking in the Spirit.

If you want to see just how good you really are, stop reading your bible and praying for a month. Then you will begin to bear, once again, your own fruit. Yes, you are still you, and you are still no good... apart from Him. It is not our goodness, but His goodness that produces good works in us.

Good works are not to be confused with good people, for there are no good people. Good God, good works (through faith), not good people.

I agree with you though that there are people who use no self control, who live for themselves and their evil selfishness makes them seem like bad people... or rather it makes some other people look like good people.

Julien
