Ok its a new shool year and a I go to a secualr school.A new student came to my class and he was a christian and he sat down right next to my friend and they started to talk.Then my friend told him that I was a christian.So as like anyother christian he would talk to me and learn about eachother.So he asked me what kind of music do I like and I said I like Christian Rock and some Secular rock.Then after I said that he just got mad and said ANYTHING THAT IS ROCK IS WRONG!!!!!!ITS FROM THE DEVIL!!!

Then the thing that shocked me was he said I WAS GOING TO HELL.And I was Like WHAT!?!?!?!The he told me to go to this one website


And so I checked it out and I found the testimonys to be pretty weak .But then I saw the question will listening to Rock music send me to Hell!So i clicked it and it says no i won't.Now why would a christian tell me to go this site when the answer is no?He says that question from the site is wrong and it should say yes.Im not sure whats wrong with this guy but hes telling me im going to hell for some music genre........WWWOOOWWW!!!

I don't see anywere in the bible which music is bad and which music is wrong.Every year people get smarter and new things come along.Im pretty sure that christians were wondering if a piano would be used in chruch.And of course there is a yes and no answer.But now thousands year later not many christians have anything with the piano.

Am I going to hell for listening to a certain music type?Im pretty sure the answer is no......





Oh and he also said listeing to rock or anything rock is a SIN!WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Is this true?

Here's an interesting Question young man. What did Christians listen to before there was "christian" music? Even the hymns we sing in churches in America, alot of them originated in bars way back when and the lyrics were changed to "bring glory to God." So, I'd relax if you are saved and you have been redeemed the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, trust me your as much a christian whether you listen to Switchfoot or Metallica!

He actually said that? It's no wonder the "world" thinks we're a bunch of freaks! Rock on my friend! Just pray for that dude, donty get in to a peeing contest with him not worth it, just pray for him.

That's really sad that the guy would say this, and I don't know where he got his philosophy from. But at the same time, I can't label one genre good or bad. This issue is a lot bigger than music. It's about the heart. As it says in 1 Samuel 16:7, "... the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
When I listen to music, I try to look at the hearts of the artists. Are they really serving the Lord, or are they just in it for money and fame?
What are the motives of the songwriter? Did the artist just decide on the way that he wanted to worship the Lord, or did he sincerely read God's word and pray to find out how God wants to be worshiped?
So do I believe that all rock is okay? My answer is that it depends on the artist. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not condemning rock. I like rock a lot, lol. But I don't just label a genre good or bad, I try to see as the Lord sees. That's why we have to constantly be asking God to give us eyes to see as He does.
I strayed from the topic a lot, lol. Botttom line: I DON'T KNOW WHERE ON EARTH THE DUDE GOT THAT PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO ROCK ARE GOING TO HELL!

There is no "Christian" style of music....only lyrics. I faced the same thing when I used to listen to Jimmy Swaggart, a former popular televangelist. The funny thing was that Stryper, who was the big rock act of the time, like me - were into his ministry. Swaggart said all rock music was evil and was incongruant with Christ.

Around the same time, I came across a pamplet from Keith Green's ministry, "Confessions of a Rock Hater" by David Wilkerson. In Romans 14, he quoted that there are things like "meat sacrificed to idols" that are neither good or bad, but is a matter of conscience. It really opened my eyes to the TRUTH from God's perspective.

Dude, I was such a Stryper head back in the 80's!!!! Man, I seen them live they were amazing. It was so sad to see them get ridiculed from the world and the church! Its hard for anyone to survive spiritually like that. Like Michael Sweet used to sing.."Come on, Rock, Rock , Rock!"

I'm old. I can remember when "Christian rock" was extremely rare. There were a few artists, and one was the late great Larry Norman. I used to listen to him a lot back in the early 70's. He had one really good song that asked the question, "Why does the devil get all the good music?"

The Bible School I went to in '93 made all freshmen attend a 4 night seminar by Bill Gothard! OMG, it was the worst 4 days of my life that I can never have back! This dude teaches a "Basic Life Principles" seminar on the Christian life. He teachings include how to rear children, live in harmony with your spouse, however at the time the man had never been married or had any children. His teachings are a "tad" extreme.

I doubt any supporter of Mr. Phelps would be at a public school. Most likely they'd be homeschooled. But your description is accurate IMHO.

True! I loved the moniker, "Jesus Christ Rocks" and the Bible throwing to the audience. I was actually introduced to them from a girl metal-er (along with Holy Soldier) who wasn't even walking with the Lord.

I do remember when Stryper went "Against the Law" and opened for Ozzy. A friend of mine and I were at the college right across the street and really began praying for them. I'm sooo glad they're back!

i seen Michael Sweet in concert in Nashvile, TN back in 1994. At a standing room only joint. I couldn't believe Stryper used to sell out arenas and Here I was fighting for elbow room to see the show, lol!

Something to ponder though bro's and sista's, A christian rock band opening for a cecular band might not actually be such a bad thing. Think of the opportunity for them to be a light in dark places.

When I was growing up in a Baptist church many of the older members of the church felt this way. The only instruments allowed in my old church for service are the organ and piano. They also feel that dancing is not a good thing. (some of the dancing I see going on is probably not a good thing... but they don't make a distinction)

It is most likely something he has been brought up to believe from a very young age. As he matures he may change his opinion after being able to explore more of the world for himself. He may not. I would try not to take it personally and just avoid the subject with him all together.

Also, it is not for him to decide whether or not you are going to hell. Read the word yourself and structure your life around the things you find there, not the things other people tell you.

I can appreciate the concerns possibly being brought up, but (and this is a bit of a generalization), these anti-CCM/Christian rock/whatever types need to avoid generalizations and ad-hominem attacks. Also, they would need to get some up-to-date info, because seeing what they use as "examples", you'd think it was 1994/95 at the most recent, and most importantly do their homework. I remember one website dedicated to challenging some of the anti-CCM/rock arguments (can't think of link, just type in Christian Rock Apologist or something like that) where the guy running the site mentioned how he was invited to one of their seminars when he had "backslidden" and the guy speaking warned of the dangers of a Blue Oyster Cult that he called "Don't Fear the Reefer" and claimed it promoted marijuana use. This guy knew the title was actually "Don't Fear the REAPER" (emphasis mine) and was allegedly about teen suicide.

The research part is where these guys tend to be weakest.

True, music can be used also to make a connection between the performer and the listener. They may have something to share that another can relate to and therefore help them. Such as life experience. We honor God by helping others.
