Does anybody know if it's safe to take an inhaler while pregnant? I can't remember the name of it right now...I'll have to check when I get home.

My doctor told me it was much safer for my baby to have the effects of my inhaler than to have the effects of low oxygen levels for several minutes. But talk to your doctor. There might be a better way to treat the problem than an emergency inhaler, especially if you are having to use it often.

Mine is Symbicort, which means it has steroids, so not feeling so good about taking it. I will have to wait for it to pass. I am almost 12 weeks. It seems to be going quicker this time...Maybe because it's Christmas time and it's just plain busy?

Yolanda, I'm not familiar with Symbicort. I googled it and found this Wiki article. When I was pregnant, I know for a fact that I used Pulmicort which contains one of the (same) active ingredients that is found in Symbicort. According to this website, it is a category C medication during pregnancy. From other reading, it appears as though it SHOULD be taken if the benefits outweigh the risks. With my asthma, taking medication to improve breathing outweighed any potential risk of harm to my son when I was pregnant. He's a healthy 5 year old Can you call your doctor to find out if it's safe for you to take?

I don't really need to take it, I was just hoping it would help relieve my cold symptoms and terrible cough. It just doesn't seem to be getting any better. Chelsea, I'm wearing a few mat things...I have a pair of pants that I've never stopped wearing after I had Chase, they are the "Now & After" pants from Thyme. They are just normal khakis with elastic in the back of the waistband. Oh, this is so so so funny. We have been teaching Chase to point at my belly when we ask "where's the baby?" and we finally think he's getting it. So last night we started asking him, and now he only points to his own belly!!! That kid cracks me up!

Yolanda, I would talk to your MD/OB/Midwife about it sooner rather than later. I started out with what seemed to be a tough cold about 3 weeks ago, and am now fighting bronchitis. I am on Pulmicort - 1 puff, 2xdaily. My doctor & midwife say that it's safe, it doesn't go into the bloodstream. I'm also now on antibiotics because of the bronchitis. Today my boss sent me home from work and told me not to return until Monday. I'm pretty sick. But it started out as just a cold a few weeks ago. I'm not trying to scare you, but I'm so sick and so tired that I can hardly stand it. I've been begging God for mercy! I want you to be healthy and strong! So, hi all! I've missed you! I have been so busy with school, and so tired when I come home that I feel like I've abandoned you! I hope everyone is doing fine. I only read back a few pages, so I have no idea what's going on with anyone! We're 30 weeks tomorrow, and (as I said) so SO sick! I had such an easy pregnancy until I got this cold. It's draining and I'm exhausted. I started losing weight because I don't feel like eating, so now it's hard to ensure that I eat for baby, but not feel even sicker! heehee.... isn't life interesting! :) I am loving you all! You're in my thoughts daily!!! Don't forget those pelvic exercises ladies...even when sick they need to be done! HUG! Leah

Oh my goodness, I have been STARVING the last 3 days! I can hardly get any work done here because I have to keep looking for something to eat! The other weird thing, at the very beginning, I had a stomach bug and was throwing up and stuff for about 4 days, and I lost 10 pounds, I was only 4 weeks pregnant at the time. Now, I'm 12 weeks, and I still haven't gained any weight. This is totally different from my last two pregnancies, I gained a lot of weight at the beginning with those ones.

Hey, that's funny. I gained a lot in the beginning, but now in my third trimester I'm rarely hungry and often have to be reminded to eat.

I remember when I was pregnant last time, I was hungry like I've never been hungry before. I had never ever been that hungry in all my life. THEN, I had him and was breastfeeding....WELL, I was HUNGRY, like I'd never been before! It was crazy. I think I'm heading there again!

I am upset with myself because I am not in as good physical shape as I was last pregnancy, and as much as we try to kid myself, taking time to take good care of myself will result in a much easier pregnancy. With my son I did prenatal yoga, took regular walks or even hit the treadmill, and I haven't been doing that this time around. Well, now I'm paying the price for my laziness. My right hip is getting progressively more painful, and I'm incredibly lucky to sleep 6 hours in a night, most nights it's less (although part of that is a certain 20 month old who sometimes has trouble sleeping these days). Even so, I still need to take responsibility. I can still do a few minutes of yoga each day, and today I'm going to be on my feet a lot. We're going to the Georgia Aquarium (Nathan's first time), and that's a good bit of walking. So, pray for me!

Sidways, I'm praying for you, but as well don't be so hard on yourself. You can only do so much, and it is much more difficult to keep up with the workout routines with a 20 mo old in tow.

Ruth, it may be the difference between how your body reacts to carrying a girl vs. carrying a boy. Seriously. My boys gave me way more pain than my girls. I think it had to do with the different amounts of different hormones involved.

Yeah, I was active with Gabby's pregnancy as much as possible. I even swam while on bedrest and I still had loads of hip pain, well... if I wasn't seeing a Chiro. When I was seeing him I was pretty much pain free.
