ORIGINAL: Ps103 Do you have proof of this, Randy? Yes. I have seen a time too many where only one person is warned from the argument, when the other is just as guilty. I view it as unfair treatment. I don't believe the moderators are expressing favoritism (at least, I hope that's not the case). I don't, however, understand how one can be blamed while the other is pardoned without anything being thrown at them. quote:

ORIGINAL: SonInMe1 This is a forum, a place where ideas and ideals are debated and discussed. If an opinion contrary to your's forces you to quit this site....you probably were not equiped to be here in the first place. No, this is supposedly a Christian forum. Ideas and concept can be debated without malice on either end. As hard as it is to believe, it CAN happen. By your statement, those who quit aren't equipped with the means of being a member to a community that embraces such debating, discussion, and conflicting opinions. This isn't true at all. I have made close, personal friends from this community. These are the same users that have been here for years. These are also the same users that have considered leaving because of the blatant rudeness and malice they receive from other posters.

The "Report Post" button is at the bottom of every post But brand new people don't even know about the report button. I didn't even know it until -Cinderella- explained it to me when I asked what tickets were in feedback and information. I don't think TOS explains about the report button, or if it does, I've missed it, even though I've read TOS many times over. But what I referred to in my first thread isn't even really reportable in the traditional sense.....it just seems like when a newcomer comes, the group as a whole will attack them, and in such way that EACH INDIVIDUAL post isn't a TOS, but if you could add up the posts as a group together, it would be a TOS..kwim? I feel like that happened to me when I arrived here, and it happened to that lady in WO..and it's happened elsewhere. I've also seen people pounce on a poster, not realizing that that poster may not be in the U.S. I saw one poster get pounced on because she was an adult and lived with her mother....finally downthread someone realized she was from China...then she confirmed she was...things are different there..their people struggle financially..moving out isn't as simple as it is here. And the whole mistreatment could have been avoided if they had looked at her username.it said right on it she was from China. None of the individual posts were really a TOS violation, but put together as a whole were an attack.

Calling me cooky? Randy, if you're referring to what I said, I didn't call you cooky. I said "He may sound a little cooky," which is different than calling you cooky, and fwiw, I was actually trying to DEFEND you. However, in light of the fact that I raised this whole issue, per this thread, I should have chosen my words more carefully. I see now that that was offensive to you, and thus was wrong of me to say. Will you please forgive me for the sin of using the word cooky about you in a way that was offensive to you?

ORIGINAL: Ps103 I have seen posts in a thread that I thought were incredibly rude, but they were not breaking TOS. Then another person will come along and personally attack the first poster, which *is* a TOS. I've been attacked in about five threads today alone. You moderators vow that someone personally attacking a poster is in violation of TOS. Yet, it's completely acceptable that your forum members parade around mocking me? Calling me cooky? Young and incapable of understanding things? This is freakin hypocritical and the most outrageous thing I have witnessed since signing up on this community and NOTHING is done about it. I will not stand to be demeaned by the users of this community while you all preach "if anyone is personally attacking another user, they're violating TOS". Well, I now understand where you're coming from, but I don't consider what you are referring to as a personal attack.

And I highly recommend reading Restored's post. (Because I just read it. ) While I don't advocate anyone being mean, and I think sometimes our newbies tend to naively walk in where angels fear to tread...having someone question your intent, or your understanding of scripture, or your perceived lack of expertise, or your style of communication is not what I would consider a "personal" attack. If several people told me I had not communicated my ideas well, then I would see what I could do about restating my ideas in a way that made them clear. Before I was married, when someone told me I didn't have a clue about marriage, it annoyed me. But now that I'm married, I realize they were telling me the truth. I have a lot of experience in raising children, but I've never been a parent. I recognize that there are some things in the parenting folder that I simply can't comment on for that reason. When I was 20, I had people who were 30 telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. They were right. When I turned 30, I had people who were 40 telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. As I approach 40, I realize they were right. (I guess now the 50-year-olds will start. ) A lot of the problem at CW, and everywhere else, is ego and pride.

About a week or two ago there was a thread in parenting about when is a family too big......I was participated in it, and so did a lady who is married but has no children...and by then the topic had drifted to familes who are on welfare and keep having babies..now, even though I don't have children, I AM a taxpayer, and I can certainly have an opinion about how I want my taxes used. This lady came in there and started laying into me that I didn't know what I was talking about because I had no kids..then she proceeded to state that the more children one had, the wiser they were, and that everybody needed to listen to her, no matter what because she had six kids..(even though they were from 2 different marriages)...then she proceeded to basically claim that the # of kids one had proved how wise they were...she said people with more kids were ALWAYS wiser than other people NO MATTER WHAT..even if they were in JAIL. Well, I'm sorry, but I don't think someone that COMMITS A CRIME AND GETS THEMSELVES ARRESTED IS VERY WISE.

People usually read what is intended. Of course, sometimes we read what we expect and get ourselves in all kinds of hot water.

I have never been given a list of untouchables who can flaunt TOS. And even if one mod has a favoriste poster that breaks TOS, that will not stop another mod from banning them or even the mod who considers that person a friend will ban them too if warranted. Even though it hurts I have banned members I've really liked. It broke my heart but I did it.

O.K. You can look at my post count and tell I am not a newby. But I desparately want to be one of those members that parade around saying anything they want to and flaunting the TOS. Where do I sign up. I am afraid I am one of those that Randy is referring to because of a post I made in another thread which was completely misunderstood. I consider Kath and Ps103 to be two of my forum friends. To their credit I can't count the times I have received warnings, nudges, and have had posts deleted because of TOS violations. I try not to violate TOS but when I have believe me it has not gone unnoticed. As to the OP. I think we should be more considerate of others new or not. I even bloged about the same thing.
