Well, add Morality and Ethics to the list of places I need to avoid. I just found out there that I'm not pro-life at all - only because I could support an abortion in case of extreme danger to the mother's life, especially if the baby stands little to no chance of surviving to viability anyways (like an ectopic pregnancy).

So, since I'm apparently not pro-life at all, I guess I can vote for Obama with a clear conscious now! Oh what a relief to have that out of the way. (In case you can't tell, I'm being heavily sarcastic.)

Well, I guess that makes two of us. I'm an evil, awful conservative because I'm not voting "yes" for a pro-life amendment in our state.

Zippy, I'm only on chapter 2...it's good so far. Supposedly the 2nd book is really great. I'll try to remember to keep you posted.

I've decided on the outfit for Josie to wear for her pictures today. I was hoping it wasn't too small and it's not! The legs of the pants are a bit short when she sits but part of that may have been the cloth diaper and she'll be wearing a disposable for the pictures so that will help. Of course I'll take an extra just in case. LOL

BTW, if anyone is interested, Wal-Mart has a really nice package for $4.99 right now. I always just get the one-pose package at Sears for $9.99 and this package actually has a better supply of pictures.

Ruth, I can really relate to missing the job. I've been dealing with some of that myself. Praying for you especially today. How sweet that Greg took Nathan and spent quality time with him while you rested.

I'm starting to show Josie some signs (for food and drink). I'm sure it'll be awhile for her to sign but I figured I'd go ahead and start. Oh, and we've shown her "no" too! LOL My step-father is deaf so the signing will thrill him!

So is having to terminate a pregnancy because of an ectopic pregnancy truly considered abortion? When I was having such pain and bleeding in the beginning of my pregnancy, that is what they were suspecting and I've wondered what I would do...it's bothered me since then. Or is this topic only for the Morality and Ethics thread?

My brother has been "missing" since last Tuesday evening. He has been in and out of alcohol rehabs and walked out of his most recent place last Tuesday evening--and onto the streets of Oakland, CA (if anyone isn't aware--that's a very dangerous city to be living on the streets in). Thankfully he called my dad last night and he's in a detox...not sure where he'll go from there. Any prayers are appreciated. He needs the Lord.

The problem with making termination of an ectopic illegal is that it will almost always kill the mother. In rare, rare cases will it not cause rupture but the majority of the time it does and with the rupture comes massive hemorrhaging. I don't know any pro-lifers who would dispute that an ectopic has to be terminated. Medically speaking, it is considered an abortion.

The bill up for vote here determines that "person hood begins at fertilization". Normally I would vote for such a thing, but it opens up an entire can of legal worms that I'm not sure I agree with.... Right now I am planning on voting "no", but I do still have time to change my mind.

No, but it would fit better in Kicka than in here, if you want to talk about it more.

The Walmart photo packages, is it one where you have to take the first pose, or can you pick your favorite from a bunch of poses. I'd rather pay more to be able to select my favorite picture from 15 different poses, even if I only get one pose in the end, KWIM?

I think you can pick what you want. We usually go to Target, they have a good coupon on their website for a free 8x10+ $3.99 per sheet after that so we usually spend less then $20.

When I've been to Walmart, we've had to use the first one we keep for the package. We don't go there any more though, after a really bad experience when Levi was a tiny baby. I prefer Sears, and we really don't end up spending more than we do at Walmart because I can always find Sears coupons.

Wal-Mart always makes you choose the first pose you say "yes" to, then they take 6 more and it stinks if one of the others turns out much cuter and you can't choose it for the package. I like Sears or Target because you can look at all the poses and choose. Although I do use Wal Mart sometimes for the sake of convenience, as it's the only thing nearby.

That is a good point about that bill. Usually an ectopic pregnancy requires emergency surgery; I have a friend who had one that was discovered while her dh was out of town. They didn't want her to leave the hospital because it could rupture.

((((((((((((((((((((((((Tammy))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Lord, I pray that you send the Holy Spirit to meet Tammy's brother right where he's at. Give him the strength to know he can overcome this addiction. Give him peace to know he's not alone. Let him feel you in a way he's never felt you before. Amen.

Tammy - I went through that with a family member. It's so hard and so scary. You are in my thoughts!

Tammy, I will pray for your brother too. We've so BTDT with my brother. It seems that God has finally gotten through to my brother these last few weeks...AMAZING how much he has changed in such a short time. I finally have my brother back! Actually, it's been years and years and years since I even felt like I HAD a brother at all. And now...well, I pray a similar experience for your brother.

(((Tammy))) We have a similar struggle. We have an alcoholic brother who we can't get into rehab.

Walmart portraits - a girl I worked with went to Walmart and they asked her to hold up the background for her daughter's portrait. When she got her photos back you could see her hands. And Walmart didn't see the problem at first and she had to fight for free retakes.

Hmmmmmm...I might take the ectopic pregnancy discussion to Kicka. I haven't been in there so long that I hate to jump in and start a discussion.

Ruth, to answer your question, it is indeed the first pose. I wasn't aware of that because at Sears you can choose from all of them as long as it hasn't been modified (adding a border, etc. to it) so I assumed I could at Wal-Mart.

Honestly I was highly disappointed. She only took one pose in front of each background. I asked if there was something for her to stand up against (she's standing so good and I just felt like the kid would smile easier if she was standing up) but she said only 6 or 7 year olds, who stand up well on their own can do it. Okay.... She was also high-pressured about the pictures even after I explained I only had $5 to spend today. *sigh* NOT going back. I'll go to Sears, thankyouverymuch.

I actually had to run by Sears to get some boots for Austin that were on sale. I decided to stop by the photo place to see what specials they had running. I just wasn't crazy about the pictures at WM and thought since she was already dressed, I'd just see how the Sears ones turn out. I have a $5 coupon but it was at home. The only special they had was for $129.99...well since I was already going over my $5 limit, I decided to pass. LOL

I didn't know Target did pictures. Do you have to come back to get the pictures or do you pick them up in an hour or so? If they had 1 hour service, we could do that next time we're in Jackson. Something to look forward to since we're hopefully getting a Target! I'd like to try JCPenney too but ours doesn't do photos.

Janine, Donna, Lexie, and Zippy your words have comforted me and brought tears to my eyes. How very sweet and thoughtful of you!

Sandy, good for you! Your mom must be a sweetheart!

I've been satisfied with JC Penney for pictures. Their coupons/packages and quality are very similar to Sears.

Target doesn't have the one hour prep, but I'm pretty sure that ours said they will mail the pictures to you, and they are ready for viewing within minutes so you can pick poses and stuff.

The thing I like best about Target and Sears is that they take the poses in the floor instead of up on one of those platforms and my kiddos do so much better that way. My kids hate sitting up on the platforms, when they're toddlers they're scared sitting on it unassisted.

We visited my mom and the kids she nannies. Nathan was so sad to leave he really cried.

Mom also offered the gift of a house cleaning service, is it nuts that I almost feel a little defensive at her offer? Especially with the 3rd trimester and a new baby on the way?

We got our photos done at our grocery superstore...I was so blown away by how well they were done. At first we were skeptical because the girl taking the photos looked like she was 12, but she was so good with Akeelah, offered a lot of ideas and poses and was very patient.

Then they take you to the computer and give you groups of photos and ask you to pick the best one from there. Then they narrow it down again and the keep doing that until you get the poses you really want. We ended up taking three. We will definitely be going back there again.

Ruth - I can understand feeling defensive at first, but she surely didn't mean to be offensive. (I probably would have had the same reaction, but upon thinking it through would be thankful the chance to relax.)

I'd love for someone to offer me that gift! Do you think she thinks you're a bad housekeeper? Maybe she just realizes that with two kids, you'll want to devote your attention to them instead of cleaning?

After over two weeks, I have my truck back. Yay!!! And after the dealership had a talkin' to from my hubby, they decided to not charge us a dime because of the trouble we had with them. A $1200 bill they decided to put on the house. This happened yesterday and I'm still shocked. But thankful. God is good. I didn't even ask Him for that.

I've had a horrible time sleeping lately. I didn't get to sleep until after 7:30 this morning.

I would love to have a house cleaning service after I have our third...and I would have loved that gift after Jael was born. It's much harder to keep the house clean when you're recovering with two in the house not to mention that it's hard for any dh to keep up with everything including taking care of his wife.

It's actually funny that you mention that...today when I was in the shower I was thinking that if we end up having another girl and someone is nice enough to throw me a shower that I would ask for diapers/wipes and possibly (if anyone wanted to pool their money) a gift of a house cleaning service for a few months after the baby is born. What a blessing and a load off that would be!

I don't think you're nuts. It's hard for me to let other people clean my house.

BUT...I think you should graciously accept the offer and then sit back and enjoy while someone else cleans your floors and windows and you get to enjoy your kiddos. There will be a lot more to do with two kids and if you don't have to do it all, that is a blessing to be thankful for!
