I love it, Sandy! You have a real gift for writing. Your style is so homey and you say what needs to be said without belittling. I did find two small mistakes that you will want to take a look at:
Typo:
"All do no feel."- in 4th Paragraph.
Theological mistake:
Give thanks to God for all things- Eph 5:20

Maybe, "all do not feel the same" or "all do not feel"? I'm assuming you meant something like that.

Sandy, I love it too. When you are finished, do you mind me sending it to my mom? I was thinking of writing her a good long letter, and get to preaching the good news to her.
For the sentence in paragraph 4, I had to read it couple times to get what you meant. Maybe put "All do--no feel" or "all do, and no feel".

I think I understand why I've been glum today. I feel disconnected from my old life, from my career. I do not wish to be a WOHM, especially now, but even with this economy I get a call from a headhunter about 3 times a month or more, asking if they can lure me back into the job market. Apparently there are still plenty of jobs for mechanical design engineers out there.
I got another one such call, and she was very polite, but it sent my mood down again. Greg took Nathan out again because I am quite tired. My day was productive, and Greg came home early, and I had a nice dinner prepared...
Ah well, I guess I just need to shake it off. I am still maintaining my license (it was to much of a pain to get in the first place, and there's no reason not to maintain it), but sometimes I still look back at once was.

For anyone who doesn't know, the tests required are first the EIT, Engineer In Training - 8 hour test, but I took it my last semester at college, and it wasn't to terrible (except I'd been sick the night before and the stupid proctors were cold, so they jacked up the heat in the room).
The second test is taken after a minimum of 4 years work experience, and that's the PE test, also 8 hours, but you're far removed from school, and most folks spend at least 2-3 months preparing. It's open book, and you will see folks taking in an entire suitcase full of reference materials and building codes.
The second test is ugly, and has a much lower pass rate. I passed on the first try.

First try? That's impressive. My FIL who has his in multiple states, many taken after years of experience, has failed on the first try in many of the states, especially the ones that have vastly different engineering regulations from the south, like California.

Well, I passed the main test on the first try. You usually don't have to take the full test twice, as it is a national test. There's a nasty amount of paperwork to get a PE in a different state, and sometimes you have to take a smaller test to show knowledge of the state codes, but it's not nearly as bad.

(((ruth))) I am praying for you and thinking of you. I know what it feels like to be out of your job, but still feel its important and best to be at home. I get asked frequently to go back to teach too, and it does send you down a little.

Aw thanks.
Well father and son spent some time together this evening. I get really tired these days. But Greg took Nathan to Wendy's where they split an order of fries and a milkshake. Then they went to our local park where there were several ballgames in progress. And where there are school games, there's a concession stand, so Greg bought Nathan popcorn. (He spoils him a bit.) They ran up and down some hills, played in the dirt and watched planes fly overhead.
The only problem was Nathan did get a bit pushy with other toddlers, and when Nathan was thirsty he had trouble communicating that to Greg. Nathan kept pointing to the concession stand, but Greg had already bought popcorn and didn't understand Nathan was asking for a drink (there was water in the car). Verbal skills are still very much a work in progress. But he really understands a lot.
I was happy to have the time to rest, and it sounds like the boys had a great time. No wonder Nathan only has eyes for daddy whenever dad is around.

Oh Ruth, that is so great that Greg takes him like that and wants to spend time with him. That made me smile. Its good for you to have a little break and good for them to bond  It's hard for some dad's I think who aren't around alot or just don't pick up on what kids may be needing (like a drink).

Could you teach him a sign for "drink"? We are finally getting Gabby to do some, although the sign she is currently using for "drink" also means "eat" so it can be confusing. Oh if she would just talk, lol.

How old is your niece? Gabbs has been quite the booger about signing, she refused to for the longest time but I think she is getting desperate now since she IS verbal but it's still jibberish.

My niece is 29 mos. She can talk, but she signs or signs and talks a lot because that's what she learned. To her, certain gestures just go with certain words.

Dh is forever saying to me "what did she say?" after Akeelah says something to him, and I always "translate" for him. It's funny though because while he hears her using words all of the time he's still in the mindset that she is babbling.
Yesterday we were waiting for an elevator and Dh came up and she said "Daddy, there a fly!" Dh just nodded and said "yes sweetie" and then looked at me for help. I said "honey, there's a fly" and pointed to the door where the fly was.
Busy day today. We're going to go to playgroup this morning, then swimming and the library this evening.

I am getting out of the house today and visiting family. My glum mood has continued and I didn't sleep well last night.
Well, add Morality and Ethics to the list of places I need to avoid. I just found out there that I'm not pro-life at all - only because I could support an abortion in case of extreme danger to the mother's life, especially if the baby stands little to no chance of surviving to viability anyways (like an ectopic pregnancy).
So, since I'm apparently not pro-life at all, I guess I can vote for Obama with a clear conscious now! Oh what a relief to have that out of the way. (In case you can't tell, I'm being heavily sarcastic.)
