Obama is showing his true colors and also showing how insecure he is about being upstaged by a great duo.

"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough," he exclaimed to a standing ovation.

In accepting the party's vice presidential nomination, Alaska Governor Palin joked at the Republican convention last week that the only difference between a hockey mom like herself and a pitbull was "lipstick."

Conveniently, you left out what Obama said before the "lipstick on a pig" comment. But to put in context, what Obama is saying is that McCain can have the same failed polices as Bush and call it "change", but behind the illusion of change, he's still more of the same. That's what he meant by the analogy. It's an old analogy that been around for a long time.

I know exactly what he meant. And i didnt leave anything out. I posted a link to the entire article.
He said what he said. Its there. He is so many things the good Lord wont let me say. A vote for him is a vote for this world going to hell. Ive seen so many sides to him now it makes me physically sick. Like i said - i question the morals of anyone who agrees with him on this kind of strategy.

The phrase "lipstick on a pig" is on urbandictionary.com. Obama didn't make it up. Obama wasn't calling her a pig. Obama's record, positions, and policies are problematic enough - downright terrifying. To some extent the soundbites and jabs (both ways) are designed to get the attention of Americans with little to no attention spans - that's a reality. But it goes too far when we start playing "gotcha" with every little thing that comes out of a candidate's mouth and making up reasons to retort in a press release and feign offense. Then people just start to tune it out and we're squandering the opportunity to show Obama for the danger he really is. This kinda stuff is counterproductive.

If this is his "true colors" what is he showing? At worst, maybe he's a little mean spirited (but I think that's really reaching from this silly little comment). That's not a road you want to go down with McCain on the other side - he's got a very biting sense of humor and often calls people names much more shocking than any vague allusion. I'm only saying we should be focused on his TRUE colors - socialism, marxism, giving up our sovereignty, taxing us into oblivion, etc.

Oh i see...so you are saying that Obama should because you think McCain does? Is that what you are saying? Hmm...dont agree at all.
And just so ya know, McCain has never ever ever called Obama or Biden a pig. Ever. For any reason. What Obama said is as clear as day. I dont care how many times its mentioned on urban dictionary...lol
What does that matter? So just because he didnt make it up then its alright to call her a pig? Thats what he did. End of. Only a few people will actually see it for what it is.

The term "lipstick on a pig" is a very common anology. John McCain himself used it a year ago! A Chicago Tribune article published in 2007 during the Democratic primaries cites McCain criticizing Hillary Clinton's health care plan. "I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," McCain is quoted as saying about Clinton's proposal.

Here is a fair question. Did Obama use this expression before Sarah Palin referred to herself and other women with the lipstick joke? If not, why did he wait until he found a woman who talked of wearing lipstick before he said that pigs wear lipstick?

Even I've used that expression in the past. Not in relation to any presidential race though...

But it shows how far he is willing to go to win what would be good for HIM.

Geesh Bob can't you tell the difference between a guy talking about healthcare and the other guy who smears a team with a woman on it?

Obama is tone deaf for sure.
He probably just energized a few million more women to vote for McCain/Palin.

If you're going to make the claim that Obama is calling someone a "pig" rather than just making an analogy, then really the only person he could be calling a pig is McCain. Because he says McCain has based his campaign on experience and now that he's got a running mate who has no experience he has based his campaign on change. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. McCain is a pig. Palin is the lipstick. But underneath the lipstick, he's still a pig. That's IF you want to make the claim that Obama is talking a person. He's not. The pig in lipstick is the McCain campaign. Not McCain or Palin themselves.

I am a diehard conservative many of you will note from several other posts. I have to say that with what Bob_George has stated here is one of the first two thoughts that I had. That the "ONE" was basically calling McCain the pig and Palin the lipstick. but...BUT! I guess I think this is "manufactured outrage" and really "much ado about nothing!" Again, I am rather conservative so don't think this is a statement by an Obama supporter trying to hide the facts. I do think it is a gaffe on Obama's part because it is exactly statements like this that tend to get turned around just as this one has and may indeed hurt the Obama campaign. And to quote Tony the Tiger... "That's Grrrrrreeeeeaaat!"

This whole would-be "lipstick" controversy proves two things: a) in the closing weeks of a political campaign, context doesn't matter anymore, and; b) people who are predisposed to believe the very worst about a candidate need very little to validate those beliefs.

Either way, this manufactured outrage is just lame.

psst... FYI... both sides do this. [;)] Radio and TV ads are mostly for swaying voters that don't have the time, inclination or attention span to "study" candidates.
