If McCain truly wanted to take the high road why did he approve the ad in the first place?

He only backed off from his campaign's claim that Obama called Palin a pig when he began taking heat on it from people on the right (much to their credit).

If conceding that Obama did not refer to Palin as a pig is "taking the high road," then what is it to first make that mischaracterization and capitalize on it? The middle road?

I dont know - im not McCain. lol
But i would assume because he agreed with the ad, just as most people did as well. But eventually you need to move on and thats what McCain did. He took the high road and moved on from it. Unlike Obama - which will be talking about it from now till the end of time.
