We are very much teetering on the brink. IMO, that's what this election is about. You just made my point. On the brink of what? You're talking ghost stories. I believe if you'd read the thread one poster said, we already have socialism so why not take it further and then another poster said, we are on the brink of socialism if we don't vote for freedom and that's what the big issue of this election is about. Just to catch you up.

Now for the real reason of my post...why is this thread still going? We all know what was implied by the comment but now it's time to let it go and move on to the issues -- anyone for Town Meetings to discuss the issues?

Well sarah, is pretty, and not a pig. A little lip-color would help. In seriousness, he ment to say it you could tell the look on the Bo's face.

Exactly. It doesn't have to be true, just smear, smear smear and I guarentee those throwing these kinds of accusations certainly wouldn't stand up to the same scutiny. What kind of people support Obama? (disclaimer -- I know there are those "believe" in him - I'm talking the ones willing to put this kind of stuff out) You know the sad thing is there are those out there that will believe some of this garbage. Do slander laws matter anymore?

I cannot believe there are 11 pages on this. Wow! The whole thing is subjective. Yet, everybody is trying to prove what he intended to say in his heart. God is surely laughing at the foolish pride of man.

I find this quote from that article far more telling: “I just do not trust the American people,” said <an Obama supporter>, 58, a computer programmer, who, along with several others, joked she would move to Canada if Mr Obama loses. “I cannot believe that 80 per cent of this country thinks we’re headed in the wrong direction yet 50 per cent are supporting McCain and Palin. I guess it’s like at school, there’s always got to be a bottom 50 per cent.” (Emphasis added and name deleted) I see and hear comments like this constantly from the liberal side. "If you don't agree with us it's because you're stupid." (The other side is not innocent, mind you, but in my experience such an attitude disproportionately comes from the Left.) And they wonder where the "elitist" label comes from? Did it ever occur to this woman that even if 80% of the population believed we're on the wrong track, 50% could still think her preferred candidate's track is even worse? Apparently not. -Robb

Wow. Today McCain finally admitted that Obama did not call Palin a pig....sort of.... quote:
Even the Arizona senator admitted today that Obama didn't call Palin a pig, but defended the ad anyway. Obama "chooses his words very carefully," McCain told reporters today in Florida, after saying "no" when asked if he thought Obama called Palin a pig. "He's very eloquent," McCain said. "It was the wrong thing to say." http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=5807555&page=1

ORIGINAL: LivingParadox So Todd_T, how is one of our favorite Obama operatives on the CW boards? I'm an Obama supporter, but no operative. I actually was a McCain fan back in 2000. I just found it amusing that McCain finally backpedaled on his "Sarah Palin is a victim" hysteria which so many folks took to heart with nary a brainwave.

I am an Obama backer, to be sure. But I'm an independent, not a Democrat. And again, I did back McCain in 2000 (before Karl Rove's slime machine ended his campaign in SC) before switching to Gore. This season, however, McCain is cozying up with people he swore he never would back in his old maverick days, which is why I don't think he's a maverick at all anymore. Now, McCain's just another politician willing to say or do most anything to get elected.

And I'm not naive enough to believe that news loses its bias so long as you don't admit that it's biased. Are you suggesting that there's a well of unbiased news sources that we could be drawing from?

I was pro McCain in 2000, enough to ask for a Republican ballot in the primary. This was a first for me. I ended up voting for Bush over Gore, although the decision was quite a close one for me, as it was for the country. I still like McCain. The Democrats are going to have to win me back. So far they haven't done it. Obama is not an evil man. He's just too liberal for me. I was iberal once. I am not liberal any more.

And conversely, I might invite you to go up to the nearest woman you see and call her a "pig." -Dave quote:
ORIGINAL: todd_t quote:
And the libs/Dems came all apart when the guy in Georgia put out a tee shirt of Obama/Curious George. Could we possibly have a double standard here? How do images of pigs have anything to do with sexism? This would-be comparison has no validity whatsoever to racist Curious George cartoons with Obama's name under it. If you don't believe me, go up to the nearest African-American you see, good-naturedly call him an "ape" or a "chimp" then watch what happens.
