ORIGINAL: rageofcreation Man, the ignorance and hatred here is astounding. I am a believer of nearly 3 decades and it still amazes me how any true Christian can vote for people like John McCain and Sarah Palin. I will leave you folks to enjoy your little club here. Thanks for the warm welcome. Recap: I am a believer for 30 years and you people here are ignorant and hateful. I will sorely miss your braggadocio and arrogant Christian self.

I frequent several fora and there seems to be a movement afoot where "new members" come on board and say things like "Palin is backfiring" or "Palin is a racist" or "Palin is really a tax and spender" or "Palin had a space alien baby." All the while they try to give the appearance of being a Republican or conservative or Christian. I think the hatred and fear of her is so virulent, the leftists may be logging on to forum they would never frequent otherwise in a desperate attempt to discredit her. It's referred to as "astro-turfing". You show up, claim you've been a Republican for 25 years and say something like "I've always been a loyal Republican, but..." Fake grass roots...astro-turfing. Plus, it's been reported in more than one story that part of campaigning these days is sending volunteers to message boards and chatrooms. So, not surprising.

Thessa, I am only quoting your post as an example ... I hope this isn't too preachy ... I am speaking to me as well ... WE need to be a bit more Christlike in the words we choose ... remember in 1 Cor. 13 as stated in the Amplified Bible when talking about God's love "Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]." We need to quit assuming the worst in an individual and assume the best. Our greatest weapon is the love of Christ. It always prevails. When we come against someone who is seemingly against the things of God we need to remember: 'Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.' (Romans 12:19-21) It is easy to assume the worst about someone's motives (I know ... my first reaction to some of the things I read here make it challenging). But we are charged to show His love to the world, and unless you know for certain (which I would think is impossible in a forum setting) the motivation of the person writing ... then I think as His representatives, we need to extend grace.

We have this in financial and Christian forums too. Con men show up saying they have been a christian for so many years, set themselves up as some money making wiz guy and try to con us into buying some garbage from them. They try to get us to seek their financial wisdom "off the forum".....ROFL.... they cannot teach us their stuff in public because they know real financial folks will blow them out of the water. I just love how people think Christians are idiots. It's fun to watch them "try".......

We have two candidates who have the most liberal voting record when it comes to infanticide (up to birth and surviving an abortion attempt) and who promotes graphic sex education starting in the 4th grade. I marvel that someone who calls themselves Christian could vote for them. But I suppose even good Christians occasionally have terrible judgment and make grave mistakes.
