ORIGINAL: OneJohn410 Thanks for the additional input- very good. Creating a virtual church is what this is starting to become, and I'm thinking there's more of a reason for everyone to consider their own church and their individual role in it for the building up of the kingdom. Urf, I hope you were not injured? Ok, Bible genuises, did Christ build the church on Peter, while at the same time taking the cornerstone position, or was it built solely on Christ, with Peter somewhere in the mix? I am doing fine, thanks for asking. I am no genius, but I will give it a shot... Matthew 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros--a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra--a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it]. There is a not so big rock and a Big Rock in this passage. That makes two rocks, and Peter is not the Big Rock. The simple answer is that Peter is one of the Apostles who make up the foundation and Jesus is The Rock, The Cornerstone. This is, of course, not an interpretation that all agree with, and that is putting it mildly. Peace
