ORIGINAL: lightshineon Man you and the MusicanDad sure put God in a box, saying what he will, and will not do. Total fabrication. What I pointed out was the your use of the Holy Spirit's name didn't change the fact that your argument is specious and that you have no idea what the Holy Spirit is saying to anyone, other than yourself. I also pointed out that He is sovereign, which is the oposite of "putting Him in a box". Are you really reading these posts, or are you just making it up as you go? quote:
ORIGINAL: lightshineon Even thowing stones at BeBo Norman, who by the way has been more sucessful than Musicandad, as far as that goes so has Britney. Lol. Aside of you not knowing what kind of sucess I've had, or not had, way to go for the personal attack (again) instead of backing up your argument. I guess if I had to argue something as stupid as what you are aguing, I'd be tempted to say something like, "you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny" too. Too funny. quote:
ORIGINAL: lightshineon I know that is hateful... You forgot and dumb quote:
ORIGINAL: lightshineon ...kissing Musicandads BoBO... Haha! Man, I just can't wait 'til a few post from now when lightshineon starts telling us all, or maybe just those of us who disagree with him/her, that we shouldn't use personal invective.

Thanks for this, I felt the ssame way as BeBo, when I saw the e-true Hollywood story. Iused to scoff at her too, laugh at the Jay Leno jokes, and such, then I saw her as a child of God, who needed love, and she looked so lost, and confused. Yes, she is responsible as anyone, but since Jesus Christ has lived the only sinless life, we are all unworthy of his grace. I am praying for her, and her children. FYI Musican dad, I am the female. quote:
ORIGINAL: ccmed We just posted a "Story Behind the Song" with Bebo. He talks candidly about the story behind "Britney." Plus, we also just posted a new Q&A with Bebo over at ChristianMusicPlanet.com.

Maybe the fact is that you've actually paid attention and followed Britney. Most of us haven't. That's why I don't have anything to apologize for. She's just another person. However, she does seem to want to invade my household on television and in magazines. I'm a rock and roll guy. No interest in the likes of "entertainers" like Britney.

How does one not hear Pop? One thing I do like about Pop music are the great hooks. That's also what I hate about it, since if you hear a Pop song, especially one that you hate, it'll be in your head all day.

I've found it ain't as hard as I once thought it would be. I guess I just get too into living my own life and a lot of my interests don't fall on the "pop side." quote:

How does one not hear Pop? I don't listen to the radio much at all, except for XM's "Boneyard" and "Squizz" (the metal channel is too dominated by cookie monster vocals). I ignore MTV and most of the other "culture channels". CDs and DVDs are my friends. I actually wish I were a little more up on the pop stuff but I don't want to know about it bad enough to suffer listening to it. But if other people like it good for them. Of course its easier for me, no wife or kids. Not that it can't be avoided if you have kids but its easier for me, I'm in charge of the audio & video with no limits.

Yes it would be great if Britney were saved, as it would be for any who need salvation. But why pray for her specifically?. There is a world full of people who live and die in obscurity who are just as deserving of your prayers. Nobody sold her a bill of goods, as was stated in an earlier post, if anything she is a willing partner in a devils bargain. Is her case somehow more tragic because she is young and pretty with great wealth?. None of us can pray for everyone, and quite frankly i will reserve my prayers for those people i am aware of around me who do not have a fraction of what she has and who's lives are infinitely more desperate than hers.

There is a world full of people who live and die in obscurity who are just as deserving of your prayers. Honestly I've wondered that also. You are right about those among us who go unnoticed and don't have many people praying for them. Then again Britney has come to the attention of many people. Some of whom have kids who look up to her (maybe not so much anymore but I'm not sure). Maybe some have a burden for her and there isn't anything wrong with that. The only thing I resent is when I'm told I should pray for her because as you stated she is no more (and no less) worthy of prayer than any other lost person. I usually do pray for anyone after I comment about them. I figure if I can take the time to comment I can take the time to pray for them. But truth be told this is more of a philosophical issue for me. I hope she turns her life around but I don't really know her or connect with her entertainment so its hard to be emotional about it, at least for me. There are literally billions of lost souls in the world, all of whom are destined to the same fate unless they repent and believe in Jesus Christ, declaring him Savior & Lord of their lives. God wants them all to come, famous or not. But hopefully the prayers offered for Britney will result in a change of heart. God is willing but Britney has to heed the still, small voice ...

Britney is not the only lost person, I pray for, gee do not pray for her if that is not what you want. It is so nice to see love in action. I have the same burden for Angelina Jolie (sp). I do not see Britneys actions any worse than I have seen on this forum, honestly. The world sure could not see any difference I am sure.

If you have a burden for them go for it. My point was more about those that tell me I need to pray for certain celebrities (which you did not say). Angelina Jolie is mostly a 180 from Britney Spears (respected artistially and personally, social activist, not self destructive) but just as lost without Jesus (if that is indeed the case, don't know about her spiritual beliefs).

I sure haven't seen anybody in this forum going commando or flirting with lesbianism. Seriously, I think it's good to remember that it's God, not us, who decides how offensive a sin is. Saying "so & so's actions are not worse than anyone elses" is a judgement, by the way. It's the vary type of judgementalism that we are not supposed to participate in.

Well... I didn't read what everyone posted, I got the gist it was just a bunch of bickering but anyway. I think the song sucks but I do feel for Britney :( I've felt bad for her for a long time. I could tell even before she went ballistic she was having it tough mentally and crying for help inside. I mean ya, part of it was her fault but I just saw someone who just really wanted to be liked and accepted and did whatever to get peoples attention. It's hard watching old interviews when she was just starting out. She was so cute and innocent. Sure even her early music videos were a little racy and her clothing at concerts I'm told were pretty scanty and I know for a fact the managers and such pushed for that at the beginning (not that shes completely innocent though). Then watching those videos of her just trying to go to a store or whatever. She can hardly drive through the parking lot cause theres so many paparazzi around. Sure you could say she asked for it but doesn't matter. Of all the people in hollywood and the music business, shes really the only one I really feel for. She needs some help. She just needs someone she can really talk to who wont judge her for all her mess ups. I just think she wants to be loved. REALLY loved. I'll continue to pray for her though. Wish it was a good song cause I'm sure she could use something like that but really... this was so blah...

Britney Spears was not able to control the actions of those around her but she is completely responsible for her actions and no one else, regardless of what they did. The people around her must answer for what they did but it doesn't let Britney off the hook. I know that sounds harsh but IMHO the most compassionate thing others can do for her is to hold her responsible for her own actions. If she doesn't have control over it how can she fix it? quote:
shes really the only one I really feel for. She needs some help. She just needs someone she can really talk to who wont judge her for all her mess ups. I just think she wants to be loved. REALLY loved. I'll continue to pray for her though. Why not you? Seriously, why not? I'm sure you would be that person if she sought you out. There are other people who posted here who I am sure would listen to her and not judge her. I'll listen, I won't condemn her but I'll give it to her straight. I want her to get better, not to feel better. The feel better part will take care of itself. The thing is I highly suspect that help is available for Britney, I'm sure plenty of people are out there that will do exactly what you're hoping for but she has to avail herself of it. I know I keep posting and I try to resist but personal responsibility is a biggie for me. So its more about that concept than piling on Britney. What would be the point of that? If you look at my other posts you'll see I'm tough on myself as well.

Taking the responsibility and apologizing for other people's sins is a sign of a Savior Complex, not evidence of Salvation or a true Spiritual virtue. I don't know what condescension or the, "Oh, I guess I'm just the only one with this much grace and all these other folks just don't understand the pearls I have, poor me" thing is a sign of but I know it ain't a spiritual virtue.

You know, hayseed, Musican dad all you want to do is bicker, and slander. I do not want to be part of the darkness of that anymore. If I have caused you offense, which I am sure I have. I ask for forgiveness. I will step up with personal responsibility and ask you to forgive me. I just started this thread, because two things. 1. my husband loaded the song on my napster, I did know even exsisted, and I listen to Christian Music, as I work at night. I thought it was a good song, I fiqured out, what or who it was about after awhile. 2. This last summer, I had watched the show about her on E, and I had a burden. I thought back, and remembered I could see her falling apart, even in her interview when she was pregnant with her second child. I do not feel responsible for her sins, as I have not ever listened to her music. I have laughed at her when Jay Leno and such, made jokes about her. I watched her on CNN, shave her head, and made fun of her. Then the Holy Spirit last summer touched my heart last summer, not feeling reponsible for her sins ( please get that straight), but mine for laughing at her, liking to watch the drama and gossip on the news and such. I will pray for her, because everyone is someone, and just because she seems to have it all she has nothing. So again guy's I am sorry if I caused offense to you in way. I am a Christian woman, and the behavior I have shown is not in keeping with my faith and love for the Lord. That is my stepping up, and doing what is commanded of me. I do think the song is good, has a good sound too. quote:

I'm not bickering or slandering. Where have I ever said anything that is bickering or slandering? But you have been the one casting stones at us with your accusing us of not having as much "grace" as you do or "trampling your 'pearls'." You miss the point entirely.

Hayseed, I ask forgivness, did you ignore that? What you did or did not do is between you, and the Lord ( Whose us anyway?) I ask forgiveness for my part in acting in an un-Christlike manner, let us act like Christ, the one we follow. quote:

Lightshineon, I don't agree with your accusation of slander or bickering or much else that you've said in this thread, and I refuse to take anything anyone says on the internet personally. So you don't owe me an apology. Nothing for me to forgive. I have no problem with you whatsoever. I just think differently from you.

I'm not saying it's not forgiven. And honestly, like MusicianDad, there was nothing to forgive. I take very few things personally. Actually, less than I probably should. Honestly, I am concerned with way more pressing matters than Britney. I'm not in her sphere of influence so there's not much I can do for her.
