I need some help trying to understand what is happening:

1. Sarah Palin is criticized for having a speech writer but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

2. Sarah Palin is criticized for having 5 children because it will distract her from her job as Veep but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

3. The Boston papers ran a story on Sarah Palin's hairstyle but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

Since when did it become acceptable to slam someone and not get called for being such a sexist pig???

Um, here's a starter - your questions are decades old ;)

Peace and God bless,

How can they possibly be decades old when Palin only recently started getting criticized for these things????

Politicians: Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi have ALL faced the same criticism - to say otherwise is ridiculous.

And then there are the everyday women in the same shoes that face the same scrutinity - only they don't have as glamorous of a job. And to say otherwise, is even more ridiculous.

Peace and God bless,

So you seem to be saying that because someone else did it before that makes it acceptable now? Are you seriously deluded?? If it's wrong to say about any of the folks you mentioned then why is it not unacceptable to say about Sarah Palin?

And for what it's worth I was specifically asking why it is acceptable to do so of Sarah Palin; maybe you would care to answer that question instead of attempting to evade it by talking about other women

Wrong - you said you had never heard these things asked of a man and I corrected you - these criticisms have been leveled at women FOR DECADES. Challenge me on this.

Peace and God bless,

Anyone else notice the double standard with this whole Palin sexism thing? I heard Sean Hannity say today something about the Democratics picking on an "innocent woman". I'd like to be able to play back to Hannity all the things he's said about Hillary Clinton that could be viewed as sexist or over the line. I've never heard the Democrats say anything close to "how do we beat the ****?" So enough with the double standard. I don't think Palin has endured anything like what Hillary has endured and she never will.

Thank you and very well said.

I presume the no.1 sexist right now are the femi-nazis, screaming that this woman cannot be VP because she has a family to care for.

What happened to all their tripe about equality and the "Glass ceiling"?

Thanks
RC

Nope - just that these are the same scrutinies that working women with families have faced for DECADES - in a large part from conservatives. Yet now, when they have a very strong, independent women on the ticket, she's getting a free pass.

Now, let me make this clear - I think Sarah Palin is awesome. However, the criticisms of her regarding 'sexism' have been posed so many times before to working women with families it's laughable that this subject is even brought up - and NOT just women in politics with the glamorous jobs, but everyday women like me. And this criticisim came LARGELY from conservatives. Please, don't kid yourselves.

Peace and God bless,

Not really since Hillary Clinton is a piece if work and what she has had to endure is because she a nasty person, not because she is a woman...

I saw first hand some of those "little" women bring in Victoria Secret catalogs to work make comments and engage in conversations with some of the men at work and when one of those men fell out of favor two of the woman filed sexual harassment suits... Sorry I don't buy in the poor little women getting scrutinized everyday victim mantra... Just about everyone who works gets scrutinized everyday and most of the times job performance is the last thing spoken of...

Can you post some links to where senators or news journalists have criticized Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi for this? (and not a political pundit or commentator, some here do not understand the difference between a news journalist and a commentator).

It would seem your bias is much more... I have openly criticized the current President, who I didn't vote for, for his war in Iraq and his ungodly statements in reference to Christians and Muslims worshiping the same God, I have criticized both the currant candidates for their ungodly stance on abortion, fairly pointing out that Mr. Obama stance makes McCain weak stance against it look more pro-life than it is...

Try again...

Excuse me, but you do know that Hannity is a commentator and not a news journalist don't you? On the other hand, there are news journalists from the mainstream media that are SUPPOSED to be unbiased yet they can't seem to control themselves.

I hope you also know that it was a random person off the street that asked "how do we beat the ****?" and not John McCain that said that. If you haven't heard anybody call Palin a ****, either you are ignoring them or simply aren't aware of them.

Here is commentator Randi Rhodes doing just that: Youtube LINK

Peace and God bless,

I take it the answer is "No I do not have links, but it sounded good".

As for your question, how about Washington Post reporter Sally Quinn?
quote:

Is she prepared for the all-consuming nature of the job? She is the mother of five children, one of them a four-month-old with Down Syndrome. Her first priority has to be her children. When the phone rings at three in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make?

I can post links, but you specifically named Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi and I was wondering if there was any truth behind it.

I never denied that women have had these criticisms leveled at them. I'm simply asking why the double standard.

FWIW I'm still waiting for your response to the qustion

That may be in bad taste, but it definitely is not sexist, and sadly you had to go back 10 years to find a quote that you "thought" was sexist.

Rockwall, isn't this about the media, political pundits coming down Palin? - correct me if I am wrong.

Otherwise, which non-political pundit, senator is coming down on Palin for this?

Dude, you're joking, right? For Hillary start with Ed Klein (former editor in chief at NY Times) and his best-selling book, The Truth About Hillary Clinton. While you're at it, look at the scathing reviews of it saying that he personally attacks her. Then while you're at it, watch some Rush, Coulter, late night jokes - the pant suit jokes, the lesbian haircut jokes...please!

I'd have to dig for Ferraro since that was so long ago. Pelosi is the same as Hillary - just do a google search. She's constantly made fun of about her plastic surgery.

Peace and God bless,

I must have missed it. In what post did you correct me concerning these things being asked of men? And what does the fact that they have been asked of women for decades have to do with anything? I never denied that women have had these criticisms leveled at them. I'm simply asking why the double standard.

FWIW I'm still waiting for your response to the qustion

I guess I'm not understanding you. You are complaining that the media is hard on Palin - when they have been equally hard on Hillary, Pelosi. You haven't heard Letterman make jokes about Hillary's 'lesbian haircut'? You haven't heard people alledge that Obama has a speech writer. I have heard all of the aforementioend. Please!

Peace and God bless,
