Hi Earthless,

Is this still a thread where we can ask you questions? I have some questions about WOF theology.

(1) Has earthless ever tried grits?

(2) Would earthless like to try some if he ever gets out of the car in Alabama?

I could have used you out on this county road last night. Some Hazzard County wannabe was burning rubber and whooping it up out there. He must have brought his grade up to a "D" or some big event like that.

Yes, I have tried grits.. but they were from a Cracker Barrel up north.. so don't kill me!

And I don't think I would get out of my car in Alabama unless I had a southerner from Alabama with me.

I know what you're saying...but there are only pockets to worry about like anywhere.

I don't know where I got it but I have a nationwide map of Cracker Barrel locations on the wall at work. Looks better than plain wall!

The right Cracker Barrel can be good.

The problem locally a couple of years ago, and I've cut back on Cracker Barrel attendance significantly as in almost never because of it, was that (according to a waitress I talked the info out of...I'm just that way!) the manager was griping on the cooks for giving out too large of a portion on everything. My buddy and I noticed whenever we went there if he got onion rings and I got fries, we had great servings of each, but if we both got one or the other the portion was cut in half, split down the middle between us. That is..._not_...the way to keep me plunking down my hard-earned shekels.

Aahh...not really. I've let my cool lingo lay low for the longest due to my attempts to have clarity and a certain-sounding theological certainty in my pristine posts, but occasionally I may return to the ways of coolness in a low-pressure thread like this.

I'm really wondering about those other Cracker Barrel probz, humble. Got any info?

Jimbo! Hope to see you again soon.

Earthless,

In WOF theology, they give satan a lot of power, don't they? Do they not teach on God's sovereignty much?

Is there something I should understand about how they view satan?

I'm asking because my SIL said some things to me about satan, and I want to better understand why she said the things she said.

What's more troubling to me is their statement, "God has no legal authority, etc..."

I heard Creflo Dollar say that the other day as well.

If your view of the Sovereignty of God is skewed, then it seems the other beliefs, including satan can be skewed as well.

Yep. It goes something like this, if I remember correctly, "God created the earth, gave man legal authority to have dominion, man gave it to satan when he sinned, so God has to send Christ to the earth to buy back, as it were, legal authority from satan."

Something to that affect. It's been a long, long time since I heard sermons on this, until Creflo the other day said it.

I will see if I can find the clip on youtube.

I'm not sure I want to watch it. But thank you for the link. I will try to watch it without throwing up.

So just how common is this teaching on satan? Is it only in certain circles? I'm not sure, but I believe my SIL goes to a Christian Life Center--I don't know if that is a denomination, but I know hers is very WOF.

My poor SIL has had three deaths this year--her mom, her MIL, and her husband. She said that she feels satan has taken all of them and is trying to take her and her kids too.

I just can't understand the utter deception she has bought into! What I do understand is that she is in immense pain, and she has not been well-equipped for dealing with sorrow from a Godly perspective. She is not well-grounded in solid theology.

She said a lot of other ridiculous things. I intend to very gently open a discussion with her by writing her a letter, and encouraging her in the Lord, sharing verses with her that will help her know she can rely on God, God is sovereign, etc.

I do not want to get her defenses up, so I have to start with just encouragement. She is a very emotional person anyway, and her situation has brought much more emotion to her life.

I'm composing my letter over the next couple of days so pray that the Holy Spirit leads me.

The clip is short, with someone offering up a 10,000 dollar challenge to show him from Scripture where what he said comes from.

Does your SIL bind satan a lot over her life? I found this to be very prevalent when I was involved.

I actually used to do it all the time, until one day I realized I was praying more to satan than I was to God!

There is a belief that satan is some type of mafia boss, looking to take believers out.

Many of them are not willing to accept the fact that God's providence could possibly be involved at all.

It can be difficult, but loving her and being there for her is important. I dare say that all her WOF card are coming tumbling down, and she will need someone their with the truth and love to help restore her.

Error begets error.

Most WoF circles present a view of Satan as something on par with God. It's rather disturbing, especially when they get into their views of Jesus in Hell, being reigned over by Satan and the demonic.
