Prairiehiker -> Another first date question (9/2/2008 8:14:10 PM)

Other than your date showing up, what would be the one thing that your date can do, not necessarily for you, but just anything that he can do that would make you think....hmmm, wow, I think I like this one. In other words, what is one thing that your date can do that would make a good impression on you while being completely unaware that they are making a really good impression?

Just being a true gentleman - opening car/other doors; pulling out my chair when I sit at the table for dinner; ordering for me......just normal manners on a gentleman - but, there are SO few out there - they really stand out when they do these things for me....especially if/when then know how independent I am naturally.

(I have a friend who smacks my hands if/when I reach for a door when we're together.)

Those are always good. I think I normally expect those things, so when I'm out, I stand by the door waiting for the man to open the door, and I remember once that my date asks why I'm not going in, lol.

I think if I'm out with someone who I've known for awhile, I'd be impressed if he remembered little details, whether important or not, of the things that we've talked about. Like, a man remembering that I have a cat, (which is reallly so not important) would tell me that he listens.

And another thing. If a man asks a lot of questions that suggests he wants to know more about me, but does it in a non interrogating way, I'd probably be impressed. OFten times, the men I've gone out with, they never ever ask questions, but could talk on and on if I ask them something.

And if a man can defend his faith with intelligent reasonings, I would be blown away.

The thing that makes me feel best, is when I can catch them smiling at me when they don't think I can see them. It makes me feel they are really enjoying being with me. And that is a priceless feeling.

Long long ago, before I was married (and before I was saved) I dated a girl who had one habit which just melted me. Everytime I kissed her, she smiled. It was automatic. Made me want to kiss her more just to watch the smile.

If he listens intently and looks as though he's hanging on to my every word... And when he remembers little details, that shows he's interested.

Hmmmmm, I have to think about this for a moment.......

Regardless of where we are and what we're eating I would be blown away if he asked to pray over the food.

I have dated a few Christian guys and some just forget or don't want to integrate into the date but I truly like it.

I melt at the little sideways glances. *sigh* They just make me feel beautiful. [:)]

Don't they, though? I've got a guy who does that to me on occasion at church. Always puts a smile on my face. [:)]

Mine is similar. Eye contact and listening to me as if he will be tested later. following up with questions that show me he was listening.

Also, having the evening planned out to a T. This shows me that he was thinking about our date before hand. Stopping to get a paper to see what is showing or having to call for directions to a resturant or even stopping at an ATM is not very impressive IMO.

This is a huge one for me.........when a man doesn't remember things he and I have talked about it just says to me I don't care enough to listen to you.........

Eye contact is another big one for me. If a man looks me in the eyes with a gentleness and softness I am very impressed.

Being a gentleman - but not making a big production of it (I'm more convinced it is a habit that way).

Laughing!! :)

Being a little spontaneous - if we were just having coffee or something, asking if I have time to go for a walk too (if the coffee chat was going well).

Honest compliments always go over well.

RELAXING... just being himself. Let me tell you, I don't see that nearly often enough. Dates shouldn't feel that much like job interviews. I want to know the real person, not their "stories good for telling on dates" that they've rehearsed ten times over.

Those are all really good things! I like it when he remembers little things you tell him and doesn't call you his ex-girlfriend's name!(Yeah, had that happen before!) And he wants to talk about his relationship with Jesus Christ, that is really a plus for me. But, being a gentleman ranks #1 in my book ALWAYS!!!
