TheRefinersFire -> Pastors and full time ministry leaders... (9/1/2008 10:40:52 PM)

How could one tell if God is calling him to bible school?

I have had this intense conviction that I should go to bible school. Last year I did start, but I let a sin in, and I had to leave bible school. Now I have a conviction over leaving bible school, and an intense desire to go through a four year bible school program that would give me pastoral training.

What I would like to do is go through the four year bachelor of Theology program, plus take as a second major in the bachelor of Psychology program. But that's what I would like to do.

I spoke to one of my pastors about this, and he suggested I wait until it is confirmed by others, especially those with the gift of prophecy.

I need an answer to this. Of course I have prayed time after time over this issue, and for God to confirm it, but I am either not seeing His replies, or perhaps He is confirming it with my feelings on the subject.

Thank you and may God bless you!

Hi Shawn,
In this instance, is it against the rules to let the prophets of your church know what it is you feeled to do? Something so that they know they are needed to be called on deciding something? That looks like the only thing that is missing from you getting a more expedient answer.

I have never asked. I thought it may be more confirmed if I waited and allowed the people with prophetic giftings to come to me.

I have taken spiritual gifts tests and they all point to pastoral -type ministry. Leadership is high, mercy, administration, pastor, giving, discerning, and wisdom seem to be some of the common high giftings.

Hey, Shawn. I do not know your pastors, but waiting for a human to confirm what the Lord has purposed in your heart might take a while. Sure, I do understand what your pastor has told you, and where, scripturally, he is coming from, but oftimes God wants to take others out of the picture entirely so that He can tell you personally.

It sounds to me that you have the answer already, that you already are aware of what it is. Continually 'seeking a sign' will get you nowhere fast.

Shawn, base your decision on what you feel in your heart is right, not upon what another person will or will not say. This can be an easy target for the enemy to set his sights on you, to send someone, a sheep in wolf's clothing if you will, to tell you a word that will be a disappointment to you.

And who knows, you may have already had the 'Word' you have been searching for, but since you are waiting on that right 'Word' you may have second-guessed it and missed it altogether...does that make sense..?

Stop looking for a word to come from a man, but listen for the still, small voice of the Lord; He will whisper it to you in a way that you will never, ever forget.

Hello TheRefinersFire

Have you considered an online course of study? It costs little and you don't have to change from your regular job. While you are studying, see if your pastor can arrange for some speaking engagements. The evaluate the fruit of it.

Hello TheRefinersFire

Have you ever considered an online course of study? It costs little and you don't have to interrupt your regular job. While you're doing that, why not ask your Pastor to help you find speaking engagements. Then, evaluate the fruit of it.
