We laugh at work because the complaints come up in abbreviated form in our call queue, no puncutation. So we'll get something like "103 rectal vomiting." Ummm, rectal vomiting? Now that sounds unpleasant.

I need to run through the shower so we can leave.

Oh that is nasty sounding.

Things have calmed down here since the other day.

Jen, if this helps any....Ds went to school last year. I guess you can say that he learned how to appreciate homeschooling.

Jen--I hope things work out for you.

You would love the game "Man Bites Dog". It's a game where you deal out cards with words ont hem and you have to make a headline. It can get pretty funny!

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I just can't handle this heat and humdity! Hello--it's the begining of September. I've been dealing with the heat all summer. What's up with not being able ot deal with it all of the sudden!?

My run this morning was simply miserable. 70* and 95% humidity. Although, if it's pea soup fog, might it be up near 100% humidity?! It was an okay run--as in I turned in decent numbers--but it was tough. Hopefully this all will break soon! I run much better when it's cooler. I actually enjoy winter running.

I just had a church member stop in to visit. She saw me nursing Noah and said "Are you still breast feeding" and laughed when I told her yes. You could tell she was "biting her lip" to voice her opinion on it. I know, by her personality, that she thinks Noah is too old for it. Good thing she doesn't know about his tooth decay problem!!

We had a good school day, everything got done except for 1 thing because I couldn't find the book. I also learned that I really don't like the "learning to read" stage. They do their work sooooo pokey... it's like snoozeville! . I guess I already knew that I didn't like this stage, but had forgotten.

Doesn't it hurt to breathe in cold air? I find it painful! Does your body get use to it?

I'm the proud new owner of an overhead projector I also got a new desk chair, and a table that will be perfect for my sewing machines (I have been making do with one nasty table that only fits one machine for quite some time). Oh, and a DVD rack that will fit inside my closet (Cindy, you tell Ash about that!).

The table isn't here yet, though-it rode home in another homeschooler's van and won't be here till later today. And I have already promised to loan my projector out to a mom who only needs it for one day and didn't want to take one and then not have anything to do with it.

Annie,

Thank you for posting this. I thought it was only my blessing doing this..that and my lack of patience. It's good to know that someone else is bothered by the slowness too.

I just spent hours figuring out one dance for practice tonight. All the steps are written down, but no sequence was given and that's what I spent most of my time on-the sequence. There's 3 parts, but you have 3a and 3 b and sometimes the parts repeat three times, then sometimes two, then sometimes we only do one part of the part of the dance....

I finally had to stop to fix dinner. Hopefully the rest of the sequence will come to me at practice. And we really don't want to be too unskilled as this Friday we are having an open house and Ted Pearce in concert. It would be good not to have too many mistakes when we have guests.

Terri Camp was in chat late last night. Said life was "absolutely terrific"! She is a realtor and doing well there and will be starting up an online Mom community soon. The community will be a place where moms can be real and say they feel like a failure, etc...

Aw, homegrown, Noah is still so little and cute! How could anyone possibly think he's too old to nurse?

We are real busy around here, so I'm only lurking in bits and snatches, but I wanted to stop in and say "hi".

((((Jenn)))) I hate it when people assume they already know what I am thinking on a subject. I wish Brandon's Dad had spoken with you too.

((((Ez))))) No I have never been to Raliegh, but maybe this year should be the one for a field trip?
We are studying the 1700s right now. I'm sure you've got something in one of those museums we could appreciate.

(((((cynthia)))))

Judi, glad to read things are settling down.

Narnia, hoping your dance comes out right.

His, ooh ooh my dh is gonna run a 1/2 marathon in December! First race in many, many years.

Well, back to the salt mines.....

Shadow--that's great! Which one is he doing? I think the half marathon is my favorite distance. Long enough that you have time, short enough that you are not dead at the finish.

FYI, the Smithsonian has an 'Art to Zoo' unit study on the presidential election process. It's a 15-page adobe doc. I'm printing mine now.

Did I mention Jody is coming tonight? Or rather, he might be. You never can tell when your location and speed are up to the BNSF. Anyway, he might be here to have dinner with Nate and then he'll probably take Nate for the weekend and go visit his three younger sibs. Nate's younger sibs, that is.

I'm with Ellie - it would frost me! (We must be related to Jeff Allen's wife! )

I watch Jay Leno on Monday nights just for headlines (I actually usually turn it off right after headlines)! Some of the things that make it into print are hilarious!!

His - we'll have to check out the "Man Bites Dog" game! We have Mad Libs card game & chuckle over it!

Annie - It really irritates me when people want to impose their arbitrary age limits on someone else! I guess at least this lady wasn't rude enough to come out & say it - although the attitude sometimes irritates me more than someone being blunt about it! My favorite story along these lines was when ds was 2 (he was big for his age). We were in Wal-Mart & my mom was pushing him in the cart. Some lady had the audacity to come up & say that he was "too old to have that thing in his mouth" (he was a binky kid). I was an aisle or 2 over. My mom had the best comeback! She told the lady "well, I'm not his mother & neither are you so I guess it's none of our business"! I was yelling GO MOM in my head!!!

Jen - sounds like some good finds!

Well - I got all the stuff from last year put away & all the new stuff out! That is progress right? I was feeling a bit down when I looked through what we did last year. This is usually a good time for me when I realize we did a LOT more than I thought we had! But this time it left me feeling like a bit of a slacker! I realized we did little to no Art or Science since January! Of course, dh did have surgery in the Spring & things were a bit hectic around here. BUT I have been saying that we have GOT to QUIT putting those subjects (& History some too) on the back burner! So, this is confirmation to me that it is true! I'm feeling better about it all now! Funny - even though it seems like we did less, the kids section for last year was just as thick as any other year! (they each have a 3 ring binder I keep stuff in). So, we did do a lot! I just have things I want to finish up before ds is in high school & that is next year (GASP ). I also have some books I want to read before then (including the Formula one Jen is always touting!) and I want to check out hs tracker or some other computerized tracking system (so transcripts will be easier)! Anyway - I think I'll make a goals list for the year. Oh yeah - need to add cleaning system to that list (getting it organized & actually making everyone stick to it - including MOI )!

I'm trying to figure out how to get Nate interested in art, as he says he has no use for it.

LOL! He is the one that I got that phrase from. I don't listen to comedians on my own, but we were at some relatives' house and they loved him and wanted to watch him with us. I don't remember anything else except for that phrase.

ROFLOL...yeah, I agree...GOOOOOO MOM!!!!!!!!!!!

ok.....dancing smileys time.....
Paul went to another dr today to get another profile, and this time IT'S PERMANENT!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He thought he was going to ahve trouble getting it because she kind of played it off at the apt and made another apt for the 16th...thwn when he pulled into the driveway she called and said she got it written out, signed, and would have it at the desk tomorrow so he can pick it up!!!!! Now we wait 7-10 days for them to process it, then they have to let him go before a board to give his reasons for wanting an MOS (job) change. He could have done that before, but there was not much guarantee they would let him out of his MOS because it is one they always need more people in, so they tend to hold onto them tightly. BUT with this permanent profile stating basically that he can't do his job they are 99% sure to let him out of that job!!!!! (He says if they ask him what he wants to do he wants to put in for Chaplains assistant...he has been trying to change to that one for years but is never able to because of mechanics jobs being so hard to get out of). Sooooooo....we will see what happens with this new info!!!

Cindy, be glad you don't work in Sweden. Apparently some magazine published a recipe that said, instead of 2 pinches of nutmeg, to use 20 whole nutmegs. At least 4 people actually followed the recipe and were poisoned.

Yeah, I heard about that on the radio. I thought it was pretty funny. If people don't have the brains to figure out that they shouldn't put 20 whole nutmegs in anything, they deserve to hallucinate.

Ash is very proud of you for finding the DVD rack.

His,

It's here in Charlotte on December 14th, but I don't remember the name. Way too far for you to come run with him, but if you want to, we have room for you and all the fam too! I'd even feed ya'll.

He hasn't run any race for years, but he has completed several marathons back in the day...like before we got married. He was never into biking or swimming though.

He loves soccer. My first exposure to sports was on his co-ed soccer team after my oldest was born. Then I used to run a bit, so I could be a better soccer player. Then I started lifting weights, for the same reason.

But he took a traveling job, and I started home schooling and that was sort of the end of that.

Ellie-Maes shoes make me start to daydream about maybe someday jogging/running again...

but for now, it's only the elliptical trainer at the gym not nearly often enough to do me much good.

Good night everyone.
Great to read good news for your hubby, peculiar!

I didn't know there was such a thing as "whole nutmegs". I guess it doesn't grow in those little jars!

Please pray for me. My moods are swinging wildly... I know that I am exhausted, and the heat, and trying to get 400 projects done on the house, and stuff with hubby, and house not selling, and being in "limbo", and stress over money, and getting school started, and my job going "bust"... it is just a little too much right now.
Thanks,
Melissa
